In this week's Flagship Flashback episode of the Wade Keller Pro Wrestling Podcast from five years ago (3-20-2019), PWTorch editor Wade Keller is joined by guest cohost Todd Martin from the weekly PWTorch VIP podcast, “The Fix with Todd Martin.” They discuss Raw and Smackdown in-depth including the latest WrestleMania 35 developments, react to A.J. Styles re-upping with WWE, reaction to the big Johnny Gargano-Tomasso Ciampa angle on NXT TV last week and the follow-up to Ciampa's injury regarding realigning Takeover New York, the disappointing ROH/NJPW G1 Supercard line-up taking shape, New Japan Cup update including the Will Ospreay push, the latest from Impact Wrestling including the Jonnny Impact turn and a rising star on the roster, and the latest UFC event review and preview, plus the T.J. Dillashaw news.
Probably our biggest episode so far in terms of talking content. Scott breaks down NXT Takeover New York and some big talking points from G1 Supercard and the Hall of Fame. They have a helpful guide through another entertaining episode of Frasier. To cap it off we break down the biggest show of the year WrestleMania 35, how it compares to recent Manias and talk about whether or not it lived up to the hype. All that and so much more random topics in this near 3 hour episode.
We can finally say, with confidence, that belts ain't just for holdin' up your pants anymore! There's so much to cover in this episode, we're just going to say it covers TakeOver: New York, WrestleMania: Almost New York, Raw and SmackDown Live: Close Enough To New York, the fallout from all of those shows, and a bit of AEW news as well. And today, everything gets shaken up! AAAAAAAAAAAHHH too much wrestling! --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/pro-grapplers/support
Wooo-boy - there's been so much wrestling in the last several days. We mainly focus on TakeOver: New York and WrestleMania but manage to sprinkle in some tidbits from the G1 Supercard and miscellaneous other happenings. Last weekend, we collectively watched probably 1000+ hours of wrestling. Not really, but it sure felt like it. And overall? Pretty good stuff. NXT was all killer / no filler (as per usual) with TakeOver New York. WrestleMania was the marathon of wrestling events, but mostly delivered the goods. New Japan Pro Wrestling brought their A-game, as well, despite Ring of Honor's misguided efforts to be edgy or interesting or whatever. Don't worry – we won't break down all the cards. That'd take forever and frankly – you wouldn't want to hear it. But we do hit the highlights (and lowlights) of the weekend and its aftermath. Next week, things are about to shake up! After the huge weekend of wrestling we're back talking about NXT's TakeOver New York show as well as NJPW/ROH's SuperCard from Madison Square Garden. Lots of praise all around as TakeOver delivered per usual with a night a good to very good matches (plus a Kushida sighting). The G1 Supercard show was a little more divided but still contained some incredible matches. Plus, and it goes for the whole weekend, the crowd was on their A-game.

We always jokingly say that WrestleMania is so long that the pre show starts right after SmackDown Live goes off the air. Now of course that wouldn't be smart, considering that WWE was already competing against itself as "205 Live" was running on WWE Network at the same time the second season of "Miz & Mrs" premiered on USA Network. I guess Vince figures if people are watching something WWE, even if it watching one causes the other to lose viewers, it's OK. Tonight NXT presents its go home show prior to TakeOver New York. While the matches are all known, you have to wonder if there will be some surprises tonight that will make what is always a must watch event even stronger. AEW is certainly making sure their name stays in the conversation with three new hires in the non wrestling area, including two former WWE personalities, one we had talked about last night which was made official today. There is also a new mini series about some of the less glamorous side of wrestling. There are several stories that have had "official" versions that have been told, but now, they are being told by people on the inside who aren't afraid to tell the truth. All of these stories and more, including news about the possible long awaited debut of a former NXT star...TONIGHT

We predicted one more bad Raw before WrestleMania arrives, and surely that will be the only one, right? After railing against Angle's choice for his final opponent and Ricochet's first-ever match with former WWE Champion, Jinder Mahal, the guys focus on the positives, including Kofi's amazing run through the gauntlet on SmackDown. Some non-main roster stuff comes up, too, including a surprising cruiserweight title contender, where did all the women in NXT UK go, Steve's love for Primate, Gallus' love for Coffey, Dunne and Walter's addition to the TakeOver: New York card, Ciampa's fond farewell, and a baller five-way on NXT for the championship contendership. If you want more of wrestlers having fun with one another, check out this rendition of Shayna Baszler's theme and this dad joke, masterfully presented by non-dad, Dean Ambrose. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/pro-grapplers/support

What a weird week it was for TTR. The Crusierweight Championship #1 Contender's Tournament came to a close on 205 Live, with a somewhat unexpected result.
