Welcome back to The Lawcast! This time we're covering Hog Wild 1996, WCW's original venture to the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. It's pretty much universally buried, but one of our hosts doesn't hate it as much as you would expect. We have the newly heel Hollywood Hulk Hogan challenging The GIant for the WCW Title, Scott Hall and Kevin Nash against Lex Luger and Sting, Harlem Heat against The Steiner Brothers, Chris Benoit vs. Dean Malenko in a mat wrestling clinic, and Rey Mysterio Jr. vs. Ultimo Dragon.Plus we discuss AEW All In and make our predictions, talk about AEW booking a stadium show in Dallas for 2025, and talk about the resolution of the G1 Climax Tournament in New Japan.
We head back to Japan for, unfortunately, the last time, as we close out the WCW / New Japan Supershow series with Supershow III - a heavily (and awkwardly) edited version of Fantastic Story in Tokyo Dome, which unfortunately is not about elves and wizards fighting dragons in Tokyo Dome, but is, at least, a darn good wrestling show. Jushin "Thunder" Liger faces Ultimo Dragon in a dream match (okay, so there is one Dragon)! The Great Muta and Masahiro get another chance after their Starrcade 1992 effort underwhelmed us! Sting faces Hiroshi Hase in a contest for most naturally likeable wrestler! Plus, just what the heck is going on with commentary in that six-man tag match, and what big match got left on the cutting room floor this year? For all this and more (but no ceremony or presentation, goodness no), let's go to the ring!Music by Michael Gary Brewer at https://www.instantmusicnow.com/Follow us on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/LetsGo2theRing/

In episode 27 ACEFIELD RETRO returns with MIKE BELCASTER to discuss two hearty episodes. We take on the NOV 18th MONDAY NITRO & WORLD WAR 3. We are getting the culmination of a great build to a very unique WCW PPV. We finally get the debut of RODDY PIPER on NITRO but it is overshadowed by ERIC BISCHOFF turning his back on WCW and joining forces with the NEW WORLD ORDER. WORLD WAR 3 was a fun night of wrestling but how does the concept hold up? ULTIMO DRAGON has a stretch of two amazing matches on both the NITRO and WORLD WAR 3. WHO wins the 60-man battle royal? Is it better than the ROYAL RUMBLE? We talk about the impact of the PILLMAN/AUSTIN infamous gun wielding segment that happened on the other channel. What was the reception to this reality-based programming? Did WCW have an extreme response? MR. PERFECT is heading over to WCW but what does he have left to give in the ring physically? Will he have an impact on the product in a positive way? MACHO MAN is still unsigned and continues his conversations to come back with WWF. What could have been to have Randy Savage back in the Fed through 1997? As per usual, we do some diving into Dave Meltzer's newsletter as it happened in real-time to bring in CONTEXT and help us travel completely back to 1996 to get an idea of what this event meant to WCW's drive to overtake WWF in the MONDAY NIGHT WARS. What was the rating like? Is there more drama to unpack? As always, this episode is sure to be an amazing time with the main homie MIKE BELCASTER. If you're a collector who's been to big wrestling conventions in the past, then you may have been disappointed in the carny game that was WrestleCon this year in Philadelphia. Certain promoters, "up-charging" on items, and if you brought something they deemed, "rare," you were paying for it! These promoters had advertised prices on wrestlecon.comExamples:Tony Hunter Promotions w/ The Hardy Boyz wanted an extra $40 because we brought a early Matt Hardy Series 2 EliteClub Hollywood Promotions advertised Honky Tonk Man as $90 on his new Legends elite, but if you went to WrestleCon, he was $125 and NO PHOTO!Gimmicked Promotions with The Godfather, this promotion advertised The Godfather as $50/50/100. On of our friends had the new Kama Legends Elite, he was charged $70. Twenty minutes later, our host with the SAME figure they wanted $100!These were just a few promoters pulling bad moves, we've been promoters with Ultimo Dragon, Sonny Onoo, Karrion Kross, Scarlett, and The Iinspiartion and NOT ONCE ever pulled what this carny show pulled. As we said, The Promoters Put The Con in WrestleCon!Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/perchedonthetoprope/donationsAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

In this Dailycast episode of Wrestling Coast to Coast, Chris Maitland and Justin McClelland have no summertime blues because they watched Dreamwave's Summer Spectacular, a great show with a main event of Christian Rose vs. Matt Cardona for the Dreamwave title, El Hijo Del Vikingo vs. Gringo Loco in an amazing lucha spectacle, and Wasted Youth defending the tag titles against Aramis and Flamita. For VIP, they keep the summer vibes alive with matches from Dreamwave's Those Summer Nights - Masha Slamovich vs. Brian Keith in a match every bit as stiff as you'd imagine it would be, and returning legend Ultimo Dragon against indy fave Matt Cross. This show is part of the Spreaker Prime Network, if you are interested in advertising on this podcast, contact us at https://www.spreaker.com/show/3276210/advertisement

The Jericho Chronicles hit London in July, and featured stories about some of the biggest matches and feuds of Jericho's career. Hear details behind his first-ever match which was at the Moose Hall in Ponoka, Alberta, Canada, his time with CMLL in Mexico, and how he made his way to Japan. He details a couple of the best matches he had with Ultimo Dragon while in Japan, and how a young Mick Foley happened to be in the audience and went back to the States to tell Paul Heyman about what he'd seen. Chris describes the year-long effort it took to get to ECW and Heyman, how that segued into WCW. He breaks down the mask vs title match he had against Juventud Guerrera. He runs down all the circumstances leading up to a trifecta of different matches with Triple H once he got to WWE – including Last Man Standing, and Hell In A Cell Judgement Day. He remembers his favorite Shawn Michaels feud, working with Rey Mysterio in 2009, and Kevin Owens and the Festival of Friendship. He talks about Kenny Omega at the Tokyo Dome, the Mimosa Mayhem on AEW Dynamite during the pandemic, Stadium Stampede, and taking the giant swing from Claudio Castagnoli on top of the cage at AEW Blood and Guts. Please support our sponsors!Toyota: Visit https://toyota.com/GRFamily to find your perfect Toyota!FanDuel: download the FanDuel app & use promo code JERICHO to get a “No Sweat First Bet” up to $1000Cynch: download the Cynch app or go https://www.cynch.com/ and get your first tank exchange for $10 with code JERICHO.Bosch Tools: learn more at https://www.boschtools.com/us/en/SlingTV: check out https://www.sling.com/ for special offers STAY CONNECTED:TikTok: @TalkIsJerichoInstagram: @talkisjericho @chrisjerichofozzyTwitter: @TalkIsJericho @IAmJerichoYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/ChrisJerichoFozzyhttps://www.webisjericho.com/
