Kindred spirits in both music and life, the pair released their first split EP entitled Devotion in 2018, sharing the same artistic values that make their music deeply moving in all senses of the word. Their DJ sets, meanwhile, light up the dancefloor — their back to backs can be as bombastic and high-energy as they are personal and emotive, speaking to a healing force that seems to drive all of their work. The Dirty Ducks project was born in 2011, a collaboration featuring two friends from Modena, Italy. Alex Ratti and Federico Gualdi, always united by their passion for DJing and music production, started working together on new tracks that drew the attention of many important DJs and producers. One of their first singles, “Titan”, was released on well-known Italian label Time Records and played live for the first time by Michael Calfan in his first appearance on the Tomorrowland main stage. In the meantime, they remained hard at work, improving their production and DJ skills by playing in some of the most famous clubs in Italy. Their DJ sets are dynamic and energetic, ranging between different musical genres while maintaining coherence. In 2014, they were chosen to remix the iconic track "Space" by Micha Moor, and their track was released on Scream and Shout to lots of support and positive feedback. In 2015, they released an "unofficial" remix of Major Lazer's hit "Lean On”, teaming up with Italian producers Merk & Kremont. It quickly became one of the most lauded remixes in the genre, played and supported by Diplo himself. The turning point for Dirty Ducks came in 2017, when Dutch superstar Afrojack asked them to officially remix his platinum single "Used To Have It All". They also signed their collaboration with the Dutch DJ Charlie Ray "Karma" to his label Wall Recordings, reaching the Beatport Electro House Top 10 in less than a week. Their constant will to prove themselves, as well as their commitment and determination to make quality music, makes Dirty Ducks one of the most promising projects in the EDM world. ------------------ Tracklist: 1. NATURAL RHYTHM 44: LINO & MANU Bio Lino & Manu is a well-established duo who has been together for a while now. Their DJ-sets have always been characterized by an eclectic mix of techno and minimal sonorities, although always being grounded in the most radical House Music. Their background builds on highly musical research, which has been contaminated by an accurate and transversal growth. Evolving from the unmistakable sounds of Miles Davis and Coltrane, to bands that have influenced the world music such as Depeche Mode, Radiohead, Kraftwerk and Massive Attack, Lino & Manu's music encompasses influences from more innovative artists as Björk or Alva Noto through to the most experimental House and Techno of the 80's and 90's. Their love for these soundscapes drove them to create two bootlegs – one of Thom Yorke and the other of Björk – supported by many artists and producers. Their experience involves many gigs with hugely talented DJ's such as Matthias Tanzmann, Ryan Elliot, Laura Jones, Livio e Roby, AlexKid, Nicl Curly, Anthea, Guti, Yaya, Barem, Hobo and Alex Celler. In parallel their project “White Rabbit” is a collaboration with a trustworthy group of contributors. Since 2009 it's been giving birth to a great mix of music, vjing and animation, with riveting and experimental parties leaving their mark among the night scenes. In recent years Lino & Manu have moved to production, with tracks being released under different labels like Alboratory, Not for us Records, Basswalk, Pild, Diva Records & Wave Impact Label. Besides their Italian experiences they have had the privilege to bring their music to clubs such as “The Egg” in London for the party “Paradox”, and to “Der Visionaere” in Berlin for “Dunkle Dummies”, strengthening their international presence and ensuring that they're always growing and evolving. The UK has certainly been at the very forefront of the recent rise in popularity in house and techno worldwide. UK artists have provided their own distinctive sound, bringing new fans to the scene as well as rejuvenating existing house and techno lovers, showing them a new side. David Robertson aka Reset Robot is one such artist. His unique style blends high tempo tech house infused with chunky, dark techno elements. This style has led him inevitably to some of the most forward thinking labels within techno, with a string of productions being put out on the likes of True Soul and 8 Sided Dice. 2013 saw the Portsmouth lad hit the big time with tunes such as ‘False Widow’ being supported heavily by the likes of Tale Of Us and Richie Hawtin. However, it hasn’t been any easy journey for the rising star. Failed promises from his previous management led him having to completely reset his production plans. This would deter most, but his sheer determination led him to eventually to release on the infamous Dubfire Records.Constantly moving forward and looking for new opportunities, he and fellow techno superstar Alan Fitzpatrick announced recently the arrival of their new joint label, Whistleblower Records. What’s in store, who knows, but it certainly does wet the appetite if their solo efforts are anything to go by. We caught up with David after his recent set at Egg London alongside Mihai Popoviciu and Martin Eyerer to pick his brains. Hey, so this set was recorded on Saturday 12th July at Egg London, how was it? It was a great night, a little slow when I started but the room picked up nicely. I hadn’t seen it since the work had been done. It looks great now. UK artists seem to be enjoying somewhat of a golden period in house and especially techno at the moment. Artists such as yourself, Alan Fitzpatrick, Scuba, Dense & Pika and Perc have enjoyed great success. What do you think has led to this and how has techno changed over the last few years? Yes, it seems there are quite a few guys doing pretty well. I’m not sure how its ended up like this to be honest but dance music has always been a massive part of our culture. I think Techno has become more accessible, people didn’t even know what Techno was when I was at school or thought it was Gabba. It’s something that lots of people listen to now even if they don’t know it. The UK has also seen an exodus in talent, who now reside in foreign cities when producing, most notably the trend to move to Berlin. Do you think your surroundings effects your productions and do you think we are in danger of losing our identity when it comes to musical talent? Detroit can be seen as an example of this, with very few artists now remaining there.I guess your surroundings might affect your productions but I haven’t really produced anywhere else so I can’t say from experience. I think Berlin has a great musical energy and people who move there are immersed in it. Having been there I can see why people might want to move there but there are always going to be others that don’t. You have a very unique sound, whop would you say are your biggest influences when it comes to both your productions and your DJ sets?Matthew Dear has been a big influence since I first heard ‘Leave Luck To Heaven'. Bill Patrick and tINI are also very influential at the moment. Their DJ sets are fantastic. So, you have just started up Whistleblower Records along with Alan Fitzpatrick. Can you tell us how this came about and what you aim to achieve with the label? Is there a certain musical route you will stick to?Yes, we’ve just started up the label with Rhymos and Con Fraser. We want to release our own music and try and find some interesting new talent. We’re also looking to tour with the label at some point. It would be nice to DJ together for a change. You had some big releases in 2013, whats planned for the rest of this year?I’ve got some new music coming on Intacto, Whistleblower and Dogmatik. I’m trying to secure some new stuff on Truesoul as well. It would be nice to get some more music out with them!Anything else you’d like to shout about?Look out for the next release on WB. It’s by Mister Woo and has an amazing Mark E remix with it. Then we have an EP from Rhymos with a BLM remix. We’re buzzing about the label at the moment. It’s great to be doing it now.
