A lie travels halfway around the world while the truth is still putting on its boots. Everyone has heard that chestnut, but Sinan Aral has actually proved it. He was one of the first to warn about the corrosive effects of social media with a celebrated Science Magazine cover story, a seminal book, The Hype Machine, and a vast study showing that fake news spreads faster and farther than the truth. Sinan is a marketing, IT, and data science professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, so he sees disinformation through the lens of marketing. In this episode, we will also discuss what Sinan calls “the end of reality” in political discourse, the role of professional media in its own demise, and the strategies democracies need to take to defend the truth.

Eric Sharp on the Virtual Sessions presented by The DJ Sessions 5/11/22   About Eric Sharp -   Eric Sharp combines a conscientious mindset with unshakable musical passion.    As a DJ, Eric has brought his own style of intelligent, sophisticated, somatic house music comfortably to intimate private parties, club nights, and massive festivals alike - most recently being tapped for a residency at LA's esteemed Sound Nightclub. With his personal productions, Eric has expanded his impact beyond simply a purveyor of taste and into a true creator.   In 2013, Sharp signed to Win Music (home of Duke Dumont, Tiga, and more) and released his EP “Sharp Cuts.” Fronted by vocals from Anna Lunoe and others, the release of these songs cemented Eric as a true artist. He has continued to build upon this foundation with remixes for Atlantic Records' Melanie Martinez, Major Lazer's Jillionaire, and Grammy winners Jars Of Clay.   2018 saw Eric's music reach new heights, smashing previous plateaus with the release of his Eric Sharp & Friends EP via Little Assembly. His productions remain widely lauded in press, with Take This Time holding the #1 spot on Hype Machine for 3 days and Too Much also hitting the top 20. In 2019 Eric released Monday Blues via Sweden's House Music With Love imprint, again topping Hype Machine and amassing over 450k Spotify streams.    Now emerging from COVID lockdowns with an arsenal of new work, expect an onslaught of emotive and driving dance music to come from this passionate soul while he continues to move crowds with his infectious energy.   About The DJ Sessions -   “The DJ Sessions” is a Twitch/Mixcloud "Featured Partner” live streaming/podcast series featuring electronic music DJ's/Producers via live mixes/interviews and streamed/distributed to a global audience. SNBRN on the Virtual Sessions presented by The DJ Sessions 12/14/21 About SNBRN - Kevin Chapman's introduction to dance music was at age 12 when he stumbled upon music from the likes of Fatboy Slim and Moby. In 2008 he got his first copy of the digital production software, Reason, and started producing his own dance music. Slowly but surely, he began to immerse himself in the LA and San Diego club scenes. By 2013, Kevin had completed multiple professional degrees in audio engineering and production. Shortly thereafter the vision for the SNBRN brand emerged and Kevin embarked on a new creative path. Recognizing the increasing popularity of deep house, indie dance, and nu disco Kevin envisioned a brand that combined all the best elements of each sub-genre while remaining instantly accessible. In May of 2014 the SNBRN project was launched with a series of viral covers and remixes. He was quickly met with a series of career milestones including: multiple HypeMachine chart topping releases, garnering tens of millions of plays on SoundCloud and YouTube, and direct support from Pete Tong on BBC Radio 1. With official releases on Atlantic, Astralwerks, Spinnin' Records, Ultra, Republic and Sony, the SNBRN brand has rapidly solidified itself as an overnight sensation in the indie dance and house music worlds. The first SNBRN single ‘Raindrops feat. Kerli' was released January 20th on Ultra Records. “Raindrops” has already garnered over 14 million plays on Spotify and well over 2 million on SoundCloud. It also reached #2 on the HypeM Charts, #12 on the iTunes Dance singles chart, and #25 on Billboard's Electronic/Dance Music Chart. SNBRN's official remix of Marvin Gaye's “Sexual Healing” hit #1 on HypeM and quickly climbed into the Top 10 House chart on Beatport. Simultaneously, Chris Lake and Matroda's official remix of SNBRN's single “California” went #2 overall on Beatport. Over the summer of 2015, SNBRN hit the North American festival circuit with performances at the likes of Lollapalooza, Electric Zoo, Firefly, Hangout, Electric Forest, Lightning in a Bottle, CRSSD, Hard, & more In late January 2016, SNBRN released his original “Gangsta Walk” single which features an unreleased acapella from Nate Dogg, the first ever licensed original record since his death.  About The DJ Sessions - With over 2,200 episodes produced over the last eleven years “The DJ Sessions”, a Twitch and Mixcloud “Featured Partner”, has featured international artists such as: BT, Robert Babicz, Camo & Krooked, Amon Tobin, SNBRN, Simon Patterson, Lindsey Stirling, Mako, Morgan Page, Jes, Cut Chemist, Yves Larock, Judge Jules, DubFX, DJs From Mars, Rudosa, Thievery Corporation, Sander Van Dorn, GAWP, Hollaphonic, Kissy Sell Out, Somna, David Morales, Roxanne, JB & Scooba, Massimo Vivona, Moulinx, Futuristic Polar Bears, Many Few, Joe Stone, Reboot, Truncate, Scotty Boy, Jody Wisternoff, Benny Bennasi, Dance Loud, Christopher Lawrence, Oliver Twizt, Ricardo Torres, Alex Harrington, 4 Strings, Sunshine Jones, Elite Force, Revolvr, Kenneth Thomas, Paul Oakenfold, George Acosta, Reid Speed, TyDi, Donald Glaude, Jimbo, Ricardo Torres, Hotel Garuda, Bryn Liedl, Rodg, Kems, Mr. Sam, Steve Aoki, Funtcase, Dirtyloud, Marco Bailey, Thousand Fingers, Dirtmonkey, Crystal Method, Beltek, Dyro, Andy Caldwell, Darin Epsilon, Kyau & Albert, Kutski, Vaski, Moguai, Blackliquid, Sunny Lax, Matt Darey, and many more.
