It's not uncommon for big musical artists to take a break in between albums, but it is uncommon for them to use that break to go to Harvard Divinity School. That's exactly what Maggie Rogers did a few years ago at the height of her success. She sits down with Tom Power to talk about that decision, how she applied her theological studies to her work as a singer-songwriter, and how trusting her instincts and prioritizing fun on her latest album, “Don't Forget Me,” changed her approach to songwriting.
Visiting all the way from the UK, Director of Photography Spike Morris stopped by the Wrap Drinks set to chat with us about all things cinematography related. Spike's love for photography and working with analogy technology morphed into a passion for filmmaking. Spike's desire for experimentation has led him to work on some exciting projects like Moses Boyd's "Stranger than Fiction" music to video and Lewis Capaldi's "Forget Me" music video - a shot for shot recreation of Wham's "Club Tropicana" music video. He's also had the honor of working as the 2nd unit DP for "Don't Hug Me I'm Scared," a show he describes as Sesame Street on acid. Tune in as we chat with Spike and Christelle de Castro who is back on the show as a lovely co-host.Let us know if we're doing a shitty job.Support the show

«Maggie Rogers ist ready for take off» titelte Sounds! bei ihrem letzten Album «Surrender». Keine zwei Jahre nach dem ambitionierten Pop-Album veröffentlicht sie nun den entschleunigte Nachfolger «Don't Forget Me». Ready for take off? Ja, aber vielleicht doch lieber mit dem Propellerflieger statt mit dem Düsenjet.

He's back! Friend of the podcast Paul Critoph returns to review the television of the last twelve months. There is much talk of elimination game shows, mostly Korean, including physical 100, Squid Game-The Challenge and The Devil's plan, as well as the James Bond themed game show Road to a Million. I explain how watching Always Sunny in Philadelphia led me to watching football documentaries, having had no previous interest in footie, which in turn led to the consuming of multiple behind the scenes celebrity docus. Paul has massive spoilers for the final outing of Barry, so be aware if you haven't yet watched that particular season. I then tiptoe around the current episodes of Fargo and The Fall of the House of Usher while Paul educates me on all things Drag Race. As it's a new year and myself and Paul chatted for England, there will be a bonuspod this week whereby we talk about recent films and American Theme park rides, so strap in for that! Please follow the show wherever you get podcasts and leave a review so we can keep on growing.Follow us on Instagram & Twitter (links below):All music written and performed in this podcast by Steve Otis Gunn*except 'Don't Forget Me' written by Hanan ElsharifPlease buy my book 'You Shot My Dog and I Love You' available in all good book shops and online, or by contacting me personally.Podcast Socials:Tik Tok: https://www.tiktok.com/@tvtimespodInsta: https://www.instagram.com/tvtimespodYoutube: https://www.youtube.com/@tvtimespodTwitter: https://twitter.com/tvtimespodSteve's Socials:Insta: https://www.instagram.com/steveotisgunnTwitter: https://www.twitter.com/steveotisgunnFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/steveotisgunn.antisocialPaul's Socials:Insta: https://www.instagram.com/paulcritophTwitter: https://twitter.com/PaulCritophFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/paul.critophProduced by Steve Otis Gunn for Jilted Maggotwww.jiltedmaggot.com Hosted on Acast. Laszlo invited Kyle Anderson onto the CHP to discuss the life of the oft-called "Belgian Schindler" Qian Xiuling 钱秀玲. Kyle is the translator of the Xu Feng book "忘记我" (Forget Me) which details Madame Qian's incredible life, growing up in Yixing, Jiangsu, and later moving to Belgium for her university studies. She married, had a family, a career, and lived a quiet life until the German occupation of Belgium in 1940. Her story and the bravery and humanity she exhibited during the Nazi occupation earned her the moniker "Belgium's Schindler". Her's was a life worth knowing about, despite her modesty and wishes to be forgotten. The descendants of the hundred or so lives she saved back in the 1940s today number in the many thousands.
