Hello friends! We had to dig deep into the techno sandpit before we found this artefact. This week we present UK based DJ and producer Rich Jones aka. Operator. He has put together this massive set for us compiled of a span between hypnotic deep sticky grooves and atmospheric melodies. Where is my mind? -BIO- Making his name with intricate, percussive, big-room, club friendly, yet hypnotic and tough techno, Rich has grown from strength to strength since becoming a weekly fixture on Richie Hawtins twitter tracklist in 2009. He has since gone onto sign music to labels as influential as Soma Records and Minus, and was one of the key artists during the peak period of Alan Fitzpatrick's 8 Sided Dice imprint. Rich also has made a name for himself on the flip-side, as his house alias Lamech, releasing quirky, percussive, deep, stoney techno-house on the ever dependable Greta Cottage Workshop. However, his creative path has led him to his spiritual home in the electronic music world: making deep techno that has tons of energy and power. This is where Rich's new pseudonym Operator comes in, and with it he has finally been given freedom to release all the weirder, deeper, tougher, purist techno backlogged on his Hard-drives. With this alias, Rich continues to show the breadth of his studio creativity, something he has painstakingly honed now for over a decade. Whilst keeping the groove very much for the dancefloor, Operator showcases the full spectrum of Rich's love for Techno and IDM, and also reveals his soft spot for atmospheric, old-school Detroit Techno, especially spacey, futurist melodies and chords, and psychedelic, mind bending, moody dystopian synth' textures. Through the launch of his own label, Gnosis Records, and his alias Operator, Rich has fully allowed himself the creative freedom to release exactly the kind of techno that is closest to his heart, as well as showcasing other similar, like minded, deep techno artists. As Operator, or simply as Rich Jones, expect to hear his sound grow, and mature, and, at some point, melt your mind on a dance-floor somewhere around the world... The UK has certainly been at the very forefront of the recent rise in popularity in house and techno worldwide. UK artists have provided their own distinctive sound, bringing new fans to the scene as well as rejuvenating existing house and techno lovers, showing them a new side. David Robertson aka Reset Robot is one such artist. His unique style blends high tempo tech house infused with chunky, dark techno elements. This style has led him inevitably to some of the most forward thinking labels within techno, with a string of productions being put out on the likes of True Soul and 8 Sided Dice. 2013 saw the Portsmouth lad hit the big time with tunes such as ‘False Widow’ being supported heavily by the likes of Tale Of Us and Richie Hawtin. However, it hasn’t been any easy journey for the rising star. Failed promises from his previous management led him having to completely reset his production plans. This would deter most, but his sheer determination led him to eventually to release on the infamous Dubfire Records.Constantly moving forward and looking for new opportunities, he and fellow techno superstar Alan Fitzpatrick announced recently the arrival of their new joint label, Whistleblower Records. What’s in store, who knows, but it certainly does wet the appetite if their solo efforts are anything to go by. We caught up with David after his recent set at Egg London alongside Mihai Popoviciu and Martin Eyerer to pick his brains. Hey, so this set was recorded on Saturday 12th July at Egg London, how was it? It was a great night, a little slow when I started but the room picked up nicely. I hadn’t seen it since the work had been done. It looks great now. UK artists seem to be enjoying somewhat of a golden period in house and especially techno at the moment. Artists such as yourself, Alan Fitzpatrick, Scuba, Dense & Pika and Perc have enjoyed great success. What do you think has led to this and how has techno changed over the last few years? Yes, it seems there are quite a few guys doing pretty well. I’m not sure how its ended up like this to be honest but dance music has always been a massive part of our culture. I think Techno has become more accessible, people didn’t even know what Techno was when I was at school or thought it was Gabba. It’s something that lots of people listen to now even if they don’t know it. The UK has also seen an exodus in talent, who now reside in foreign cities when producing, most notably the trend to move to Berlin. Do you think your surroundings effects your productions and do you think we are in danger of losing our identity when it comes to musical talent? Detroit can be seen as an example of this, with very few artists now remaining there.I guess your surroundings might affect your productions but I haven’t really produced anywhere else so I can’t say from experience. I think Berlin has a great musical energy and people who move there are immersed in it. Having been there I can see why people might want to move there but there are always going to be others that don’t. You have a very unique sound, whop would you say are your biggest influences when it comes to both your productions and your DJ sets?Matthew Dear has been a big influence since I first heard ‘Leave Luck To Heaven'. Bill Patrick and tINI are also very influential at the moment. Their DJ sets are fantastic. So, you have just started up Whistleblower Records along with Alan Fitzpatrick. Can you tell us how this came about and what you aim to achieve with the label? Is there a certain musical route you will stick to?Yes, we’ve just started up the label with Rhymos and Con Fraser. We want to release our own music and try and find some interesting new talent. We’re also looking to tour with the label at some point. It would be nice to DJ together for a change. You had some big releases in 2013, whats planned for the rest of this year?I’ve got some new music coming on Intacto, Whistleblower and Dogmatik. I’m trying to secure some new stuff on Truesoul as well. It would be nice to get some more music out with them!Anything else you’d like to shout about?Look out for the next release on WB. It’s by Mister Woo and has an amazing Mark E remix with it. Then we have an EP from Rhymos with a BLM remix. We’re buzzing about the label at the moment. It’s great to be doing it now. CHRIS COLBURN  (Rohmaterial/H-Productions/8 Sided Dice/Driving Forces Recordings/Decoy Records) Since 1993, techno has been Chris’ passion. After debuting in Brighton, UK, he played sets at various locations in Britain before finally beginning to produce tracks in 2005, teaming up with Huw Jones in Wales to produce 2 EP’s on Huw’s Native Collective print. Chris returned to the studio a couple of years later, having moved back to his hometown, Southampton. His first solo work, Stone Town EP was the first of 6 solo releases on Alan Fitzpatrick’s 8 Sided Dice label between 2010 and 2012, with the most recent ESD outing, Destiny EP, included Cari Lekebusch on remix duties. Chris also delivered a few remixes during this time and during 2012, released solo tracks on two more labels, GSR and Decoy Records. Now based in Berlin, he has started his own label, Rohmaterial. The 4-tracker launch for this new project, Stick Or Twist EP, was released in March 2013. The EP received great support from DVS1, Cari Lekebusch, Alan Fitzpatrick, Rebekah and many more.  Tracks from Chris’ Dilemmas EP, have also been regularly played throughout 2013 by the likes of Ben Sims, DVS1, Richie Hawtin, Len Faki, Drumcell and Slam. Over the last year, Chris has enjoyed working many of the clubs around Germany, as well as visits to Hungary, Russia, Belgium and UK.

Sasha Carassi is one of those artists who exudes the air of a seasoned veteran, but this is not just because of the years he has been making noise in the industry; it's his unparalleled skill and work ethic that places him in such a revered position. 2010 was a seminal year for Sasha, as he managed to rise above the flux of producers hailing from his native Napoli. By leaving his mark on labels such as Drumcode, Harthouse, Sleaze, Respekt, 8 Sided Dice and many others, he established himself firmly in the world of serious Techno which nods slyly to the dark side. Sasha Carassi's plan could not be complete without his Techno love-children, Globox Recordings and Phobiq Recordings. Artists such as Brian Sanhaji, Spektre, Slam, Adam Jay, BCR Boys, Matador and a slew of talented producers pushing the Techno envelope have all graced the labels over the past few years.

Rich Jones aka Operator (UK) - NightVision Techno PODCAST 49 Pt. 3 Bio: Making his name with intricate, percussive, big-room, club friendly, yet hypnotic and tough techno, Rich has grown from strength to strength since becoming a weekly fixture on Richie Hawtins twitter tracklist in 2009. This is where Rich's new pseudonym Operator comes in, and with it he has finally been given freedom to release all the weirder, deeper, tougher techno backlogged on his Hard-drives. Tracklist: 01. Alexander Kowalski (DE) - NightVision Techno PODCAST 28 Pt. 2 Bio: Kowalski was born in 1978 in Greifswald, German Democratic Republic. He moved to Berlin with his family in 1986. In the beginning of the 90's the first techno releases from Detroit came to Berlin, and Kowalski was a big fan of those. Later on, he started making music on his Amiga, and in 1997 he bought equipment with a friend and arranged a studio. His first production "The Wide Theatre" was then released on the Tresor Headquarters Compilation (Tresor 094) under the name DisX3. That kick-started his career. Techno has many faces - and in recent years, with the emergence of Alexander Kowalski, the German Techno scene has gained a new shooting star. At the end of the nineties he became known through his first live acts in Berlins' most known techno club, Tresor. In 2002 he made his musical break-through with the release of his second full length, "Progress", an album which was highly acclaimed by both fans and critics alike. Today Alexander Kowalski is a new star in the Techno sky, and a greatly demanded live act, producer and remixer. Kowalski elegantly fuses elements from classic Detroit and historical Berlin techno sound. His affection for sophisticated bass lines, deep beats and challenging arrangements breathes new life into Techno. He knows perfectly how to program his tracks to sound straight, deep, housy, dubby or funky - and this versatility is one of the reasons for his reputation under both ravers and underground-oriented techno nerds. In August 2003 his new album "Response" appears on the German label Kanzleramt - and the critics are already enthusiastic: Kowalski is on the front cover of Raveline and Groove (08/2003), the two most important German dance music magazines. DJ Upgrade got in touch with electronic music at early age thanks to Chris Liebing show Cosmium - it was in 1996. First personal contact with music scene was after one year at legendary club in Brno - Under Planet. In his age he was surprised by this music and he decided to record his first mix. It was small step to start with training. He was influenced by Adam Beyer's mix on Orion Hall party. In 2003 he bought own equipment and he started with training on 3 turntables. In 2007 comes the opportunity to play on wednesdays parties at club 7. Nebe. In 2008 comes fatal meeting with LJ Doxster when they made first party FullHouse in club Doubledeck in Brno. His next resident club is "Tesne Vedle", where did club nights called Listen2. Thanks to opportunities which actual DJ softwares offer he leaved turntables and started using laptop and CDs. In 2009 he played on many parties. He got chance to be part of Magnett booking, which helps him in promotion. He is playing in clubs like Fleda, Perpetuum and on well known party Apokalypsa, which is one of the best in Czech Republic. His actual sound is influenced by labels like 8 Sided Dice, Truesoul and Drumcode and he is playing techno with minimal elements. In 2011 he found brand MAXIMAL with his friend Nois. TRACKLIST: 1. Viva La Tech Radio EPISODE 018 Air Date: 1 April 2010 Host: Thee-O Guest DJ Mix: Erphun (Bedrock, Excentric Artists, www.erphun.com) With releases on UMEK’s “1605”, Stephan Bodzin’s imprint, Herzblut, Fergie’s Excentric Muzik, Alan Fitzpatrick’s label 8 Sided Dice , Rekluse, Audio Therapy, ViVa MUSiC and more recently to John Digweed’s Bedrock Records, his name is now instantly recognizable among the tech-house, minimal, techno world of spinning producers who globe trot his compositions to be dropped on every conceivable audience. The reaction of the listener to his slow, driving builds that weave between the almost symphonic-like movements of each of his pieces is always jaw dropping and is usually followed by an exclamatory "SIIIIIICK!". Erphun is also a highly sought after re-mixer for artists who want to hear the 4AM version of their pieces. The only way to really experience this immense talent is to see him in action. A night of Erphun's making heightens the listener's musical aesthetic and aurally illustrates his personal musical vision. Visit Erphun online at www.erphun.com. Rod B. & Alvaro Garfunk bring you the Miami Underground MovementDJ UMEKUroš Umek is internationally acclaimed music producer from Slovenia, seducing the masses with his own music blend for more than a decade. Always on the look for new sounds and determined to challenge every existing cliché in music industry, he managed to define his own vision of vanguard techno. Sure, this would not happen without the support of his loyal peers who’ve joined him on the production platforms such as Recycled Loops, Consumer Recreation and Astrodisco, with which they defined “Slovenian techno sound and successfully invested it as an important driving force on the global club scene. The year 2007 marked the beginning of new chapter in Umek’s music career. After spending enormous amount of time and artistic energy bringing his characteristics sound to the whole new level, he presented new international music therapy called 1605 – Sixteenofive. No doubt this was a very risky move for such an established artist as DJ Umek. But it was the only way for him to stay on top of the game. And it seems he picked up the right decision at the crucial time: the response to his new vision of electronic dance music from his peers, critics, media and most importantly his fans is great and his productions are supported by some top dogs in the industry.Umek recent productions include highly acclaimed club releases such as Overtake & Command, Ricochet Effect, Another Matter Entirely and Faithful Nights, but it were MTV supported hit singles Posing as Me and Carbon Occasions that stirred the most media attention and crossed over to the daily radio stations. Umek’s releases were lately included on the premiere club compilations mixed by artists such as Sander Kleinenberg, Judge Jules, Eddie Halliwell, John Digweed, M.I.K.E. or Carl Cox. He was amongst the headliners of esteemed summer music festivals such as Primavera, Monegros or Dance Valley and he conquered the South America on the joint tour with Valentino Kanzyani and Marko Nastić once more. And this was only the introduction in the Umek’s year 2008, when he plans to finally present long expected new artist album and his own live band.UMEK / 200903701. Umek - Work This Data 02.
