Back in early May we closed out our series of Top BS by recording episodes on our favorite movies of the 2010s. When Kelly went to edit them, they realized the audio files had disappeared. No trace of them on anything. Okay fine we'll just move on with out lives, no one cares what we think anyway. But then! We recorded the Marie Antoinette ep and Kelly goes to edit it and now the Best of 2010 eps are there! What the effing heck?! So anyway here they are, all available at the same time because we're still trying to move on with our lives.

Two Days One Night (2014) is a film about Sandra (played by Marion Cotillard), a young Belgian mother, who discovers that her workmates have opted for a significant pay bonus, in exchange for her dismissal. She has only one weekend to convince her colleagues to give up their bonuses so that she can keep her job.  In the film, the workplace becomes a battleground, these are struggling workers with families and not CEOs or fat cats. Sandra finds and creates solidarity, uncovering people's true nature as well as her own.                                        This Week's Book of The Podcast is: An Actor Prepares by Constantin Stanislavski Support the show (https://www.patreon.com/worklifeincorporated)Buzzsprout - Let's get your podcast launched! The moment Sandra wakes up from her sleep, I knew Two Days, One Night (Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne, 2014) had me. I knew what that sleep meant. I have also slept during the day, clothed, while others around me worked, lived, and thrived. Maybe you have too. Those expecting a stellar episode may be disappointed because recording was derailed continually by Ronnie's coughing. So much so the episode had to be stitched together from recording sessions that took place over two days. Be glad the episode is coherent as it is because it could've been a lot worse. The coughs could've stayed in, for example. This podcast is about "Devil's Night", an unsub who sets people on fire to kill them but isn't an arsonist. More importantly, it features screen legend Ernie Hudson. We're sorry, Mr. Hudson. Next time we'll be better.

Sometimes technology turns against you. You spend hours recording, and then it decides that your files just don’t exist and delete them from existence. That’s what happened in this case anyway. So sadly we don’t have a normal episode for you, but thankfully we had a plan B up our sleeves. This is our first “Special” episode. We recently counted down our best of the decade (so far), and the usual hosts Taylor Devorsky and Jonathan Romo asked fellow writers Jenny Nulf and Ryan Oliver to join them for a discussion regarding those picks (and non-picks). They discussed animated features, foreign films, and movies that just may have been underappreciated or misunderstood. Hopefully you enjoy this compensation and be on the look-out for future ones like it. [Note: Spoilers and Explicit Language Within] Also, the discussion of In Bruges was thankfully saved, so you have an extra few days to watch it in preparation for the next non-special episode. Movies discussed and time-markers: Force Majeure (2:45), Ida (10:00), Two Days One Night (15:35), The Hunt (18:25), I Saw the Devil (27:20), Toy Story 3 (38:00), From Up on Poppy Hill (44:25), How to Train Your Dragon 2 (45:30), The Lego Movie (50:45), Wreck-It Ralph (53:25), Rango (55:19), Boyhood (57:30), Her (1:03:50), Spring Breakers (1:13:00), Inherent Vice (1:29:05), Inside Llewyn Davis (1:33:35), Under the Skin (1:44:10), Killer Joe (1:44:10), Moneyball (1:50:40), Killing Them Softly (1:53:15), The Social Network (1:55:30)

The luminous Marion Cotillard has "made it" in Hollywood yet continues to work in her native France as well as Belgium, in this case with the arthouse favorites Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne.  In "Two Days, One Night" Cotillard plays Sandra, a blue-collar worker recovering from sick leave pertaining to depression.  She finds out her boss held a vote with her sixteen co-workers, the majority of which opted to get a generous bonus in exchange for her dismissal.  Sandra must convince enough of her co-workers to change their vote in an upcoming secret ballot, or else she is terminated.  This film is leisurely paced, which was a turn-off for Phil, but he loves Marion Cotillard and anyone else who does will delight in watching her turn in a fantastic performance.  Andrew was enraptured by "Two Days, One Night" and the two podcasters have a wide-ranging discussion on social realism and reality in this notable film of 2014. Saturday Review comes from the 2014 Edinburgh Festivals: National Theatre of Scotland's production of a new history play looking at the Scottish Stuart kings - we've been to see James II. Front is a multilingual, multi sensory theatrical experience telling the stories of the First World War. Marion Cotillard's new film, directed by The Dardennes brothers is Two Days One Night; in order to try and save her own job, a woman has to persuade her work colleagues to forgo their annual bonus. The shameful history of colonisation and racial exploitation is explored in Exhibit B, a 'show' that has caused consternation and extreme - sometimes physical - reactions amongst those who have visited it. Sarah Waters' new novel The Paying Guests is set in 1920s London when a mother and daughter who find themselves in reduced circumstances, take in tenants leading to complicated repercussions. Tom Sutcliffe's guests this week are Lesley McDowell, Sophie Cooke and Kerry Shale. The producer is Oliver Jones.
