another dumb podcast about movies. but mostly actually about music! movie soundtrax to be specific. kinda. it's the OST. hosted by kelly and phillip.
Part 2 is where we actually get into the meat of it all. And let me tell you, it's a flawless victory of a fatality of a killer soundtrack. Follow us as we continue to revel in the greatness that is 1995's cinematic masterpiece, Mortal Kombat, and its perfectly accompanying soundtrack!
The new Mortal Kombat is finally out! No, not the new movie from Warner Bros! Our new episode of The OST about Paul WS Anderson's seminal 1995 martial arts master class in cinema. That's right, after almost 8 MONTHS, we're back with A Very Special episode. Let it be known: we recorded these episodes way back in August 2020 with the intention of releasing them immediately in celebration of the film's 25th anniversary. For some reason it just never happened, but as it turns out who cares? Just keep that in mind! In celebration of the new movie, we're finally releasing them to no acclaim. There is a ton of talk about things that have either occurred by now, or are currently happening. We hope you enjoy, and as the great Shang Tsung says: "Treasure these moments." (Producer's note: There is a short reference to Elliot Page. We recorded these episodes before he came out as trans. We support all trans people, and mean no offense to Elliot by using his dead name.)
In which we explore the soundtrack for Batman Forever! But first, we discuss our thoughts on the current state of HBO and what we fear might be the future of "premium cable." We recorded this episode in early August, before the premiere of Lovecraft Country, and for the record we love it so far. We also love the soundtrack for Batman Forever, so join us as we dive into it!
The OST returns to Batman for our very special first anniversary episode, and we're talkin about Batman Forever y'all! Join us as we explore why we think the 1995 romp into the caped crusader's neon fever dream world is a supremely underrated festival of lights and sounds inside a singular Gotham containing a wide spectrum of joy, terror, sex, and adventure only a weirdo visionary like Schumacher could conceive.
We're having our cake and eating it too with more discussion of Marie Antoinette! This time, of course, though is all about the soundtrack, and it's a big one. Join us as we go through the entire soundtrack, and find out if we know anything about Vivaldi!
Back in early May we closed out our series of Top BS by recording episodes on our favorite movies of the 2010s. When Kelly went to edit them, they realized the audio files had disappeared. No trace of them on anything. Okay fine we'll just move on with out lives, no one cares what we think anyway. But then! We recorded the Marie Antoinette ep and Kelly goes to edit it and now the Best of 2010 eps are there! What the effing heck?! So anyway here they are, all available at the same time because we're still trying to move on with our lives.

Well, hello there! We're back again again, and this time with a whole new season! After the endless best-of eps (which are arguably the worst), we've decided it's time for a new season because why not? A few things: First, down with the Bourgeoisie! We're not ignoring the protests and the BLM movement - we decided it was important to discuss our thoughts at the top of this episode. To be clear, we believe in and support the BLM movement. Simple as that. For more details though, check out the episode, duh. Second, the reason there is no Best Movies of the Decade series is because after recorded them Kelly's track disappeared! So we decided to just move on with our lives and get on with the new season. We'll make a proper post about it soon. THIRD: this episode is about a movie we both love, and though we sound tired (because we are), we're really excited to talk about it. Can't wait to talk about the music soon!
Surprise! A quick sequel! We're actually sorta staying consistent finally! What else is there to do, amirite? Anyway it's part 2 of our favorite movies from 2019! Check it out!
We're so close y'all. We're finally talking movies again, and this time it's our favorite movies of 2019! I'm sure all 10 of you are on the edge of your couch seats waiting for these eps. Also this might be our best audio yet - due to the stay-at-home orders, we're now recording from our separate homes. It's the safe way to podcast!
Continuing our excruciating series on our favorite TV of the decade, here's part 4! Full disclosure: Kelly's track got lost after editing part 1, there was some discussion about whether we should just re-record the whole thing, we decided to just release the series as-is and get on with our lives. So we know the audio ain't great in these next few parts, but it's the audio we have! Sorry! We love you!
Continuing our excruciating series on our favorite TV of the decade, here's part 3! Full disclosure: Kelly's track got lost after editing part 1, there was some discussion about whether we should just re-record the whole thing, we decided to just release the series as-is and get on with our lives. So we know the audio ain't great in these next few parts, but it's the audio we have! Sorry! We love you!

QUARANTINE SCHMARANTINE - no seriously stay at home. And while you're staying at home, how about some TV?! And what better way to know what to watch than a podcast?! Our podcast?! This is the first part of our series about our favorite TV shows from the last decade. Enjoy please.
StRaNgE tImEs indeed! We're actually staying consistent! Because there ain't nothing else to do... Anyway, here's part two of our Best TV of 2019!
Folks, in these strange times TV, movies, podcasts, musi-- STREAMING CONTENT-- have become one of the only ways to pass the time while we're all stuck inside. Luckily we here at the OST still have episodes that we recorded weeks ago that we didn't release because busy-ness. Well now we have all the time in the world! So over the next week or two, we will be releasing a steady stream of episodes to help fill your time (and ours), and to help suggest to you some TV to watch. So here's Part 1 of the best TV of 2019. WASH UP AND REMAIN INDOORS.
Can you believe we're still on our BS? In this episode, we're going through our favorite albums of 2019. If you listened to our faves of the decade, then you shouldn't be surprised what our tastes are. But we really think these albums are great, so join us as we ramble on about our albums of the year, including the song of the year too!
This is it. We've finally made it to our top 6! We're sorry it turned out to be so long, but also we're not sorry because we think this has been fun. And we're not done yet. So stay tuned as we finish up our favorite albums of the decade, and then coming up very soon is our favorite TV series and movies of the decade and of 2019! Eventually we'll get back to soundtracks okay? Stick with us kids, we have a lot of thoughts about things!
Another week, another hour of us talking about the music we loved in the 2010s. Join us again as we continue through our list of our favorite albums - this week it's 11 though 7! Do you agree or disagree? Let us know! Email us at theostpod@gmail, or DM us on instagram at theostpodcast! We'd love to hear what y'all think!
It's awards season! What an important and special time for media and content! So we decided to finally reveal our very important and special opinions of our favorite content. First up is music! In the following series of episodes, we're going to be breaking down our top 15 favorite albums of the 2010s. It's a roller coaster of sounds, opinions, and emotions!
It's a new month, new year, new decade, but it's the same ol' OST. We accidentally took another long break - thanks to the holidays, etc. BUT it is time to finally finish our exploration of Richard Linklater's School of Rock! Join us as we discuss Classic Rock 101: The Soundtrack, featuring so many bands you know and may or may not love, as well as a few you may not even be familiar with. Special Bonus! Snoring Max the poodle throughout almost the entire episode! Sorry for the atrocious sound quality, hopefully this is the last of our audio issues. Hopefully. h o p e f u l l y.
The legend of the OST continues! We're back (again) from another unfortunately long break, and we're talking about Richard Linklater's School of Rock! We like Linklater, love Jack Black, and adore this movie. Join us as we discuss all things School of Rock and JB, and why we consider Linklater an experimental filmmaker. ALSO: The soundtrack is an interesting topic that we'll get to in next week's Part 2 episode, because we're doing things slightly different now! We're now going to be offering our episodes in two separate parts: first the discussion of the movie and surrounding elements; second the discussion of the actual soundtrack. This way, we can break up the long episodes from one 2-3 hour treks, into two separate 1-2 hour parts. It makes it easier on you, more appealing on new audience members, and easier on us when editing and recording! We're changing sorta and that's exciting!
It's the most wonderful time of the year - it's Halloween! We're celebrating with one of our favorite horror movies, The Blair Witch Project. Join us as we discuss why we love the movie, and what our thoughts are on the found footage sub-genre in general. Spoilers, we mostly like it. Then of course we delve into the depths of the soundtrack - I bet you didn't even know the Blair Witch Project even had one! Well now you do! Splendid!
we're back baybeee! it's another patience test of an episode, but we're talking about a movie and soundtrack that we both love and we just can't help being long winded. also, sorry about the audio, we're working on it. we're no longer in the studio where we recorded our first 10 episodes, so we're using our own equipment and figuring everything out along the way. it's a learning experience for everyone!
Hey it's our 10th episode! And we're celebrating by talking about 2 Fast 2 Furious! What fun! Phillip's seen every Fast and Furious movie, and Kelly's only seen this one, like a week before we recorded! And they liked it! And the soundtrack is pretty good too! Exciting huh?!
Look out! Here comes another Spider-Man episode! Folks, full disclosure time: we went on separate vacations in August and didn't plan the show properly. That's why we missed last week, and it's why we're releasing our second Spider-Man episode so soon. But it's a good thing! Because it's a fun time, AND it's a special episode we recorded earlier in July with our very special guest - our friend Mariana. So hang tight with the three of us as we discuss why we think Spider-Man 2 is still the best super hero movie ever made, what our thoughts are on Objectivism, and most importantly... who is vindicated, and who was meant to live for so much more.
On this very special episode, we celebrate Kelly's birthday with their unvarnished choice: Lost Highway. Why? An excuse to talk about all things Kelly loves: David Lynch, Nine Inch Nails, etcetera. Buckle up kids, cuz we're going on a long trip down the Lost Highway as we try to figure out exactly what the heck just happened, as well obviously it's fantastic soundtrack. It's fuckin' crazy, man.
On this very special episode, we celebrate Phillip's birthday with his unvarnished choice: Shrek 2. Why? An excuse for Counting (Down Phillip's Choicest) Crows. Also included: nuts v seeds, shipping (not UPS), and the teen choice awards from two post-teens. It's a real swamp party, if you know what I mean.
Quentin Tarantino's newest film is out in theaters, which means it's The Return of The Discourse. We begrudgingly wade into this with a conversation about what may be Tarantino's least talked about film (if that even exists): 2007's Grindhouse car-sploitation homage Death Proof. Pay special attention to our thoughts on the grindhouse aesthetic, the career of Kurt Russel, and our PPs (pizza preferences).
and so then we just kept on talking. if you listened to our last episode, Orbweb Slinging Teen, then you'll remember we cut it off abruptly because we finished talking about the soundtrack; but we didn't stop! this is what we kept chattering about. bare with us because at first it's just rambling. but we figured it turned into something interesting, so we wanted to release it anyway. but beware: a lot of it is us talking out of our asses - don't @ us. love you!
Look out! Here comes us! Talking about the soundtrack to Sam Raimi's classic superhero melodrama, Peter Spiderman. To some, it's a classic. To others, it's not good. The episode hopefully is, though! We both love the movie, and we have lots of thoughts about both it and the soundtrack. You'll be so high, you can hear heaven.
Surprise it's another train episode! In this episode, we continue our series on trains with Jim Jarmusch's fourth (4th) film, Mystery Train. We unravel the mystery of said train by examining the film's soundtrack, piece by piece. Join us for discussion of Jarmusch, the influence of Elvis Presley, and America's Most Actor, Steve Buscemi. Keep on chuggin chuggin faithful listeners. Carl Perkins.
three's a magic number, and sure enough our third episode is a magical, delirious trip. join us as we struggle through various bodily noises and ramblings as we try to figure out how to talk about Wes Anderson, whether or not we like The Rolling Stones, if we're able to pronounce foreign language, and what our top five Beethoven symphonies are. the movie's not a disaster, but this episode almost is!
What do you get when you take Godzilla to New York? A disaster of a movie AND soundtrack! In this episode, we discuss Godzilla's life and career, including the 1998 American tragedy, specifically Godzilla: The Album - what might be the worst movie soundtrack ever. Including quite possibly the worst song ever too! What fun!
join us for our grand opening, sorta-practice sorta-pilot, in which we dive deep into prince's batman soundtrack! it's the best! come for conversations about the film, why people care about the joker, and the ancient moviefone hotline. a solid start? maybe? also we know it's a long episode. but don't let that discourage you! break it up into parts! listen to it over a period of time! either way it's a real goof and spoof. please enjoy.
