On this episode of Intentionally Overheard, I have a conversation with Nigel Barker about his modeling/photography career, giving back, to worthy causes,  and embracing the moment by being in the present.    About Nigel:Nigel Barker is an internationally renowned photographer, creative director and entrepreneur who opened his New York studio in 1996. He served 17 seasons as photographer and judge on the hit TV show, America's Next Top Model, which aired in over 140 countries, and hosted Oxygen Network's modeling competition series, The Face, starring alongside Naomi Campbell. Barker also created the VH1 Reality show The Shot, his podcast The Shaken & Stirred Show is currently in production for it's TV release. VH1 Reality content was totally inspired by the like-films that came before... And this is the one where Carolyn thinks she swindled Ashlee into watching a musical, which Ashlee argues the music in the drum-heavy 1959 visual affair, Black Orpheus actually wasn't cringey or shoe horned. This vibrant, beautiful film based on the play,  Orfeu da Conceição by Vinicius de Moraes follows the formula of enamored at first sight, jealously, surrealism, and spirituality, all surrounding the nougat that is Carnival in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. This brought up a whole lesson on Black cross-cultural exchange, exposure, experience, and simply embracing all dimensions of ourselves because let's be honest; we all trace back to one continent. The Detroit reared MC who now calls Atlanta home has a deep story. Seeing the streets first hand and having a father and uncle both being convicted of murders and his father beating a death row sentence, Se'von knows the realities of the jail system and is determined to deliver messages that stop the revolving door to the penitentiary. Speaking on his lane in the game, Se'von reveals, “I don't think the world needs another artist that dumbs music down. We need music to expand our vocabulary and we need lyrics to expand our ideals and point of views on all approaches to different things like life and love, on relationships and religion.” Gearing to release a 3 part E.P. series entitled Stadium Of Hearts that will showcase his knack for making lyrical street records as well as hitting the clubs and uplifting the community, Se'von kicks off the project with the leadoff single “Bang Bang.”  The lyrical tactician gives us his views on authenticity in Hip-Hop on the track and how he's breaking from the saturated pack.
