Today, Yoko's guest of honor is the Head of Greek Art and Mythology at the Met and Professor at Columbia University, Professor Aisha Martinez (Julia Morales @callmejules). In this episode, Yoko and Prof. Martinez dive into the world of myths and events throughout history that may have actually happened, like that time Yoko's Dad said he'd go to Yoko's clarinet recital and went to Buffalo Wild Wings instead. They discuss which Greek deity is the hottest, the possibility of Prof. Martinez becoming his new stepmom, and the most recent wrongdoing Yoko's current evil stepmom Sharon did to him. After realizing early on in the interview that Yoko's producer found an expert in Astronomy and not Astrology like Yoko specifically asked (his producer is a triple water sign, iykyk), Yoko decides to make the best of this situation and ends up having a great chat with Dr. Spu Newton (Jordan Stafford @dudewiththeabolitionistpart), Head of the Astronomy Club at the local Corcoran Community Center. They discuss black holes, Dr. Newton's love life (or lack thereof…perhaps this episode will change that!), and Yoko's newest developments in his ongoing feud with his evil stepmom, Sharon. Yoko Homo's accomplished a lot: he's a 3-time Grammy Awards Party Crasher, runner up on the only season of NBC's America's Biggest Show-Off, and an alum of Pronceton University in Pronceton, Arizona. The one thing he's never been able to achieve? His father's love. But things are starting to look up: the good people at iHeartRadio have given him an opportunity to create an educational podcast. This is his one chance to prove to his Dad that he isn't the idiot unworthy of love his father claims he is. And who knows, maybe he'll learn a thing or two. Welcome to Are You There Dad? It's Me, Yoko Homo. In this first episode, Yoko interviews the Head of Archeology at Vanderbilt University, Professor Dmitri Wipe (Andrew Knox @softknox). November 22, 2022 - South Korea holds the proud distinction of being the first independent Asian country to participate in a FIFA World Cup tournament in 1954. Still, Korea's success in soccer is forever linked with the 2002 World Cup: while co-hosting the tournament with Japan, Korea became the first team outside of Europe and America to reach the semi-finals. Howdy, friend, and welcome to Epi256 of Succotash, the Comedy Soundcast Soundcast, which I am entitling “Playing Through A Foursome” because I, Marc Hershon, have precisely four comedy soundcast clips for you in this show. More on those in a moment. Did you happen to catch last week's episode 255 of our little show? That's when your every-other-weekly-alternating-host Tyson Saner took you on a tour of a trio of comedy soundcasts, including Childlike At Best with Mike Valdes, Shut Up, I Love It, and Distractible. It's never too late to catch that or any past edition of Succotash – in addition to the fleet of distribution points like Apple and Google Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, iHeart Radio, and more, you can always resort to our homesite, SuccotashShow.com. In fact, you can dip back into our storehouse of Succotash any time you want at our website, where every episode is archived and available for listening. What's more, if you want to get to the homesite of any of the shows we feature clips from or find the socials of the hosts and guests on those shows, you can usually find links on the blog entry that accompanies each episode – again – at SuccotashShow.com. (I know that Tyson takes great pains to read those links out during his episodes but I'm the executive producer of Succotash and I am – how to you say? – lazy. But those links are up for every episode regardless of who's hosting. And as a blanket back-announce for the clips you'll be hearing this episode, all are available on Apple & Google Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, and pretty much everywhere find soundcasts are streamed and/or downloaded. As for the foursome of awesome clips I'm sharing with you this week, I've got three from Column A and one from Column B. Column A in this case are clips from shows I harvested myself, which includes The Ron Burgundy Podcast, May I Elaborate with JB Smoove, and Comedy Has An Ouchie. Column B are those clips sent in by a soundcaster or listener and, this week, we enjoy another hit off The Jock Doc Podcast as submitted by host Dr. London Smith. In unrelated news, I'll be appearing as Guy Niçoise, a chef of reclaimed food products, with a bad French accent, on The Jock Doc Podcast a little later this month. This episode of Succcotash, the Comedy Soundcast Soundcast, is brought to you by Henderson's Pants, makers of the patented Pain Pants, designed to help you lose weight quick and painfully. Just before I get to the clips, I wanted to share some exciting news with you. We don't really have a great way to track how this show is doing in terms of ratings. With some many thousands of soundcasts in the world today, it's amazing that anyone can find us at all. But I got a note from someone named Carlos Tenor at a place called Pod Status and I guess they track rankings of shows. He wanted to let me – and by extension, you – know that Succotash is ranked 200 in the category Comedy Interviews on Apple Podcasts in China, and 241 in Germany's Apple Podcasts' rankings. So, if you were dying to know how we're faring in those markets – BOOM. Pretty much tastemakers and influencers in my book. CLIPS The Ron Burgundy PodcastWill Ferrell is back for his 4th season playing the title character in The Ron Burgundy Podcast, the guy he made famous as the blustering, not-very-smart, TV news anchorman in the movie Anchorman. Along with this long-suffering sidekick, Carolina Barlow, Ron is ready to take on the world again with commentary, interviews, and a mind that still doesn't quite seem to be all there. The new season kicked off just last week and our clip is from the first episode “Ron Takes The Vaccine.” Ron seems a little hesitant to actually get the shot. May I Elaborate?Another guy that consistently makes me laugh is JB Smoove, whether he's on Curb Your Enthusiasm with Larry David or guesting on a talk show or spouting words of wisdom. That's what he's doing now, five days a week, on his new soundcast May I Elaborate? Joined by Miles Grose, who selects some tidbit of wisdom from various sources – mostly self-help enlightenment desk calendars, I think. Then JB breaks those philosophies down as only he can. Warning that the following clip is un-bleeped and has some salty language, for those unfamiliar with JB's style. Comedy Has An OuchieA pretty new entry into Soundcastland is Comedy Has An Ouchie, hosted by Steve Han, Phylicia McLeod, and Ashley Whitehurst, a trio of comedy improvisors with their roots in the Chicago scene. But their newer generation of performers, the system in the comedy world is rife with problems both on the surface and behind the scenes. Each episode they kick around relevant topics and try to come up with some solutions. This clip is from their episode last week called “Chicago Is Where It's At” and they are right in the midst of the ideal comedy venue wish list. The Jock Doc PodcastOur final clip of the show comes from The Jock Doc Podcast, literally. Host Dr. London Smith sent along a clip from a recent episode, along with this note: “Sorry the file isn't in simple audio format, but my cohost sent this brief moment from this week's episode to me today in group chat and it was short enough that I thought it might be a nice goody for Succotash.” Love it, Doc. Thanks for thinking of us and we can convert pretty much any audio format into the thin, tinny-sounding show you're hearing now. He goes on: “The Jock Doc Podcast is an improvised comedy with the premise of being a medical education podcast. Listeners can find us at all major podcast platforms or just find links at JockDocPodcast.com Thanks! Dr. London Smith (.com)” Tyson's back next week with more soundcast clip fun and I might do an interview the week after that, considering how well this show is regarded in the Comedy Interview field in both China and Germany. In the meantime, if anyone should happen to ask if you have heard anything good lately, feel free to pass the Succotash! — Marc Hershon
Chicago's comedy scene is legendary. But it's not always welcoming. Some of the city's biggest comedy players — from The Second City to iO — have recently been reckoning with accusations of sexism and racism, prompting apologies and new leadership. In the new podcast, “Comedy Has an Ouchie,” Chicago comedians share how they've tried to navigate toxic situations in the scene. We talk with hosts Steve Han, Phylicia McLeod, and Ashley Whitehurst. “Comedy Has an Ouchie” on Twitter: @comedyhasouchie Follow us on Twitter: @CityCastChicago Sign up for our newsletter: chicago.citycast.fm

We are fully immersed in the fan fair of summer at the iconic Lava Springs, the fake tanner of it all and we certianly aren't mad about it. This is the most shocking of all the HSM franchise--giving us dramatic solos on the greens of Lava Springs, Sharpay being FABULOUS and a supposed 5-star resort literally run and staffed by high schoolers. It shocks us, it makes us feel all the things and sets us up perfectly for the big budget blockbuster that is HSM3. Magical music by Eric Backus.

Michael talks with Steve about the recent friendlies between Paulo Bento's senior national team and Kim Hakbum's Olympic national team. They discuss some of the K League veterans who stood out for Team Bento, the rise of young Ulsan players Won Dujae and Lee Donggyeong, and what happens next month in Austria against Mexico and Qatar. On the Olympic side, Steve digs into just how cohesive this squad is and how difficult Kim Hakbum's roster construction for next year's Tokyo Olympics will be. To highlight this, Michael plays a little game with Steve, giving him players that are on the bubble and asks Steve whether they go to Tokyo or could be cut from the final roster. As always, check out our Stripes of the Week, with a certain NBA flavor this week to celebrate the Lakers NBA Finals victory, which Steve is ecstatic about. We hope you are all staying safe and healthy out there.
Josh Spice goes solo. It was bound to happen. On this week's episode of The Josh Spi- I mean... FCFC, Steve Han of GOAL Korea joins us.
On this episode of the Korean Gooners Show, Michael and Albert are joined by Korean-American football journalist Steve Han from Goal Korea. Steve shares about the many different clubs he enjoys watching, up and coming Korean players to keep an eye on, and talks about the beginnings of the K League season. In addition, Steve shares about his career as a journalist and gives advice for those looking to get involved in sports journalism. Because Steve is an Angeleno through and through, Albert asks Steve about watching Kobe and his thoughts on Kobe's legacy. Finally, the Tavern Watchlist gets into the Korean hip hop scene. There might even be some transfer rumors at the end. We hope you enjoy this episode and are staying safe and healthy. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app
