Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes follows Noa (Owen Teague), an extraordinary chimpanzee whose clan is enslaved by a mercenary ape king named Proximus Caesar (Kevin Durand). As he sets out to gets them back, he's joined by a sage orangutan (Peter Maykin) and a scavenging human (Freya Allan). The movie is set hundreds of years after the recent Planet of the Apes trilogy, but the spirit of Andy Serkis' revolutionary character Caeser still looms large over this new film.Learn more about sponsor message choices: podcastchoices.com/adchoicesNPR Privacy Policy

We explore the present state of digital payments, their impact and potential, and tech-enabled investment platforms with Caeser Sengupta, CEO and co-founder of Arta Finance. Previously, Caeser spent a number of years at Google as VP & GM of Payments & the Next Billion Users initiative. In this podcast, we begin by discussing the economic and social welfare benefits derived from the digital payments revolution of the past decade. Caeser walks us through the fundamental changes in the way business and commerce are conducted in Brazil, China, India, and elsewhere, thanks to the development in mobile payments and near-instantaneous settlements. We talk about the broader ecosystem, including the potential of super apps, safety/security, role of regulators, central bank digital money, and of course, crypto/blockchain. We then shift to Caeser's ongoing foray into creating a platform for wealth management, with enhanced customer experience and capabilities. The intersection of digital literacy and financial literacy has still plenty of room for disruption and value creation.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Welcome to The Nonlinear Library, where we use Text-to-Speech software to convert the best writing from the Rationalist and EA communities into audio. This is: Mech Interp Challenge: January - Deciphering the Caesar Cipher Model, published by CallumMcDougall on January 1, 2024 on The AI Alignment Forum. I'm writing this post to discuss solutions to the November challenge, and present the challenge for this January. If you've not read the first post in this sequence, I'd recommend starting there - it outlines the purpose behind these challenges, and recommended prerequisite material. January Problem The problem for this month is interpreting a model which has been trained to classify a sequence according to the Caeser cipher shift value which was used to encode it. The sequences have been generated by taking English sentences containing only lowercase letters & punctuation, and choosing a random value X between 0 and 25 to rotate the letters (e.g. if the value was 3, then a becomes d, b becomes e, and so on, finishing with z becoming c). The model was trained using cross entropy loss to predict the shift value X for the text it's been fed, at every sequence position (so for a single sequence, the correct value will be the same at every sequence position, but since the model has bidirectional attention, it will find it easier to predict the value of X at later sequence positions). There are 3 different modes to the problem, to give you some more options! Each mode corresponds to a different dataset, but the same task & same model architecture. Easy mode In easy mode, the data was generated by: Choosing the 100 most frequent 3-letter words in the English Language (as approximated from a text file containing the book "Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy") Choosing words from this len-100 list, with probabilities proportional to their frequency in the book Separating these words with spaces The model uses single-character tokenization. The vocabulary size is 27: each lowercase letter, plus whitespace. Medium mode This is identical to easy, the only difference is that the words are drawn from this len-100 list uniformly, rather than according to their true frequencies. Hard mode In hard mode, the data was generated from random slices of OpenWebText (i.e. natural language text from the internet). It was processed by converting all uppercase characters to lowercase, then removing all characters except for the 26 lowercase letters plus the ten characters "n .,:;?!'" (i.e. newline, space, and 8 common punctuation characters). In all 3 modes, the model's architecture is the same, and it was trained the same way. The model is attention only. It has 2 attention layers, with 2 heads per layer. It was trained with weight decay, and an Adam optimizer with linearly decaying learning rate. I don't expect this problem to be as difficult as some of the others in this sequence, however the presence of MLPs does provide a different kind of challenge. You can find more details on the Streamlit page, or this Colab notebook. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions! November Problem - Solutions The single attention head implements uniform attention to all previous tokens in the sequence. The OV matrix is essentially one-dimensional: it projects each token with value s onto su, where u is some vector in the residual stream learned by the model. The component of the residual stream in this direction then represents the cumulative mean (note, the cumulative mean rather than the cumulative sum, because attention is finite - for example, we expect the component to be the same after the sequences (1, 1, 2) and (1, 1, 2, 1, 1, 2) because net attention to each different token value will be the same). The model's "positive cumsum prediction direction" aligns closely with u, and vice-versa for the "negative cumsum prediction direction" - this allows the model to already get >50% accuracy before the MLP even comes into play. But without the MLP, the mod...

JSoth asks "Out of curiosity, if Crassus knew Caeser, then during Carrhae, why not build a heavily fortified camp the night after the first day as Caeser may have done? If the Parthians didn't fight at night, and the army was comprised of 10,000 all-mounted troops, that seems like it would have made at least some sense. In particular, if he would have been able to make palisades tall enough and simply encamped another day, thereby giving more time to come up with a proper answer to the situation." Darrell Castle talks about anti-human, anti-God, anti-life actions recommended and taken by very powerful and influential people and organizations under the guise of saving the planet from the ravages of climate change. Transcription / Notes THE LUNATIC ASSUMPTIONS OF CLIMATE PARANOIA Hello, this is Darrell Castle with today's Castle Report. This is Friday the 25th day of August in the year of our Lord 2023. I will be talking about anti-human, anti-God, anti-life actions recommended and taken by very powerful and influential people and organizations under the guise of saving the planet from the ravages of climate change. These people and organizations hate humanity, they hate God and his creation and most of all they seek to usurp his rightful place in the universe. Wealth, status, and enjoyment of the simple pleasures of life, along with those God given things that make life possible on planet earth must be taken from those who currently have them in order to save the planet for more deserving god-like people who know and understand the science of climate. The elite lead the struggle to save the climate and with it the planet, they are bound together by blood, class, education, marriage or some combination and the rest of us are merely sheep like voters for their power seekers, and cannon fodder for their wars. We ordinary people are far too busy with our personal lives, with earning a living to understand or care about the agenda of our betters. The desire to dominate, to be the alpha, is I suppose, inherent in the human species. One is slave and one is master, one wins and one loses, one lives and one dies. To control these primitive urges mankind forms together into groups, tribes, factions, nation states and alliances. That system has worked fairly well for mankind's existence except for the occasional wars between the tribes, but the system that has organized mankind for its existence is collapsing under the weight of technology that allows worldwide, synchronized, propaganda, under the guise of saving the planet from the ravages of climate change. Yes, it's an old story about dominance, control and enslavement that has been told since ancient days but now, finally, the technology has been perfected to allow those who master it to achieve control of the whole world. These people and their groups, tribes, and diabolical organizations are not just masters of technology, but masters of the propaganda that is necessary to panic the herd and drive them into the corral. I realize that the preceding introductory paragraphs are very bold statements and therefore I will give you a few examples of what I am talking about. Professor Jim Skea is a professor of sustainable energy at Imperial College in London and chairman of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change which is the top UN body on climate change. Professor Skea, in a recent interview with the Evening Standard Newspaper, said that climate change, the worldwide green agenda, and the movement away from fossil fuels must be forced on the world. He means that through governmental action, backed by relentless propaganda from controlled media, the masses will voluntarily submit to their enslavement in order to save the planet. This is just one geeky scientist, right? No, this is the United Nations speaking and that speech is backed by the World Economic Forum. I saw a video recently from Klaus Schwab, head of the WEF and he said quite clearly that we should just get used to our new lives because they are coming whether we like it or not. Their approach is no different from that made by Caeser, Nero, Caligula, Genghis Khan, Nepoleon, Lenin, Stalin, Hitler, and many others. Their directives to us have all been the same enforced with the existing technology of the day and that was then and this is now. They tell us subtly, there is a new world coming and I run it but you do not. You can do nothing to stop this world so you might as well get used to it and adjust and who kn...
When we think of ancient Rome, we tend to think of Caeser, Gladiators, a vast empire that stretches over enormous amounts of land. But Rome has a had a long history and has done things at times that roman people themselves and people in modern times think “what the hell are yall doing?” One of these times would be an end of an era, caused by deprecatory leading to a year of war that would stretch across continents. A time when all of Rome was up for grabs for any who had the power to lay claim… this is the Year of the 4 Emperors.
Welcome to ancient Rome. In this episode you will be walking the along the historic streets of the Roman Forum which was the heart and soul of the Roman Empire from 800 BC to 400 AD. You will hear about all the temples, basilicas and emperors of Rome in that time. We take you down the main boulevard of the Forum where the emperors would parade with their spoils of far away victories, which always included gold, plants and many exotic animals that no-one had ever seen before. We tell you all about the most famous leader of all – Caeser – his life and how he died. Palatine Hill overlooks the forum area and this is where the emperors built their palaces. Listen as we take you up the 7 levels of the Imperial ramp with its 35 metre high ceilings to the top of Palatine Hill. We share the views from the top and also the remains of the palaces and their private grounds, including a swimming pool and private arena. Walk with us as we leave the Forum past Titus's arch and enter one of the most well-known historic buildings in the world – the Colosseum. We were able to visit the arena floor which is where all the action happened and get a great insight into the tunnels, cells and trapdoors (spoiler alert - there were 88 of them). Listen as we transport you to those ancient times when the Colosseum was at capacity with 50,000 screaming spectators enjoying the “entertainment” of the day. You will want to stay listening to the end to find out exactly what that entertainment was – you might not call it entertainment and also what the crowds had barbecued for lunch. And no, it wasn't another shrimp on the barbie. The co-hosts discuss “Trump's Kryptonite,” an opinion survey and analysis recently issued by a Jacobin- aligned thinktank. Jacobin proclaims that the study shows that “economic populism can help progressives win more working-class voters,” but the co-hosts find that there's less here than meets the eye. After detailing some of the weaknesses and ambiguities of the study, they discuss the dangers of a politics centered around hating on “elites” and they explore Jacobin's devolution—from ranting against “Democratic Party shills” to its current role as the Party's (unsolicited) communications-strategy advisors. What, if anything, makes this a “socialist”study? Plus current-events segment: Recent Supreme Court rulings mostly continue to be horrible; why are a few non- horrible ones being thrown into the mix?

In this ClimateGenn episode, I am speaking to Dr Levke Caesar about the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation, or AMOC, about what would happen if this vital piece of the climate system either slowed dramatically or even shut down altogether. [Visit https://genn.cc for more information on ClimateGenn and support this channel via https://patreon.com/genncc ] To date the models have been poor anticipators of the speed of localised climate changes. Levke gives an insightful and sincere perspective on the importance of the AMOC as a critical piece of the climate system jigsaw. In the next episode, we stay in the oceans and speak with Dr Shaun Fitzgerald, Director of the Centre for Climate Repair in Cambridge, about the collaborative effort they are involved with to develop kelp seaweed for both carbon sequestration and the benefit of marine ecosystems and more. Subscribers via Patreon can also access another episode with Professor Bill McGuire discussing his new book Hothouse Earth and, very shortly, a new interview from my visit to the Monaco Scientific Centre to interview Dr Nathalie Hilmi about the centre's work in ocean research and conservation with corals and whales among other marine ecosystems on the agenda. Please also check out the Sustainability in Alentejo wine series that I have been posting. This interview contains some amazing chart analysis on video, so if you are able to watch on video we highly recommend heading to our YouTube channel using this link Are we Headed for a Move to The Upside? Crypto Caeser puts his case forward for why he believes we are more likely to be headed to the upside rather than the downside. This includes macro analysis of Bitcoin, on-chain, fear to greed index and dormancy flow. Despite the analysis looking promising, we also discuss the importance of implementing a risk management strategy, only investing what you can afford to lose and having patience when investing. Is it Time to Buy or Sell? There are some strong indicators that are suggesting it is a great time to buy, the market is in extreme fear, the on-chain hash rate has been hitting new all-time highs and the dormancy flow level is suggesting the market is about to or has bottomed out. This all indicates now could be a good time to buy but as always, we recommend dollar-cost averaging in and making sure you manage your own risk tolerance. What must I do to be saved? This is a popular question—and an important one—but it is not the gospel. It is a response to the gospel. For many the gospel has often been reduced to a sales pitch of what Jesus can do for you. But, the gospel isn't about what Jesus can do for you. The gospel is a declaration of what Jesus has done, solving the three biggest problems facing mankind—defeating death, sin and domination by demons. Hank is joined by Fr.
