"Navdušen učitelj lahko zelo navduši učenca. Preizkušati je treba različne strategije in razviti dober odnos med otrokom in učiteljem. Ko je vzpostavljeno to zaupanje, je mogoče iz vsakega šolskega predmeta narediti 'najpomembnejši predmet', otroka je mogoče navdušiti tudi za branje," trdi ravnateljica OŠ Ivanjkovci Nada Pignar. Bralna pismenost, ki omogoča razumevanje prebranega in povezovanje znanj, je namreč zelo povezana tudi z dostopnostjo do knjig in časopisov v domačem okolju. Tudi PISA 2018 je na primer pokazala, da 15-letniki, ki prihajajo iz socialnoekonomsko šibkega okolja, v manjši meri dosegajo osnovo raven bralne pismenosti. Ker veliko šolarjev te šole izhaja prav iz takih pogojev, so že pred leti pristopili k projektu Opolnomočenje učencev z izboljšanjem bralne pismenosti in dostopa do znanja. Učenje so prilagodili otrokom in njihovim sposobnostim in individualno spremljali njihov napredek. "Ker mnogi otroci živijo v družinah, kjer malo berejo, nimajo naročenih časopisov in so knjige slabo dostopne, smo v šoli odprli krajevno knjižnico. Ta je pet dni v tednu odprta vsem. Otrok gre lahko vsak odmor v knjižnico, morda sprva le uživat v vzdušju ali posedanju na udobnih kavčih in stolčkih. Temu se bo slej ko prej pridružilo prebiranje knjig ob osebni bralni mizici ali v skupini. Tak otrok bo slej kot prej dobil notranjo motivacijo za branje. In ta je najpomembnejša," pravi ravnateljica OŠ Ivanjkovci Nada Pignar. In rezultati tretješolcev, s katerimi po teh metodah delajo že od vstopa v šolo to potrjujejo. Še pred leti so njihovi učenci dosegali rezultate pod državnim povprečjem, zdaj tretješolci že presegajo povprečje vrstnikov po Sloveniji. OŠ Ivanjkovci je za ustvarjalnost, inovativne pristope v delu z mladimi in uspešno sodelovanje z Zavodom RS za šolstvo minuli teden prejela tudi priznanje Blaža Kumerdeja. Hkrati pa je odličen primer, kako je socialno pravičnost mogoče doseči tudi le s srčnim, strokovnim in predanim delom učiteljev. OŠ Ivanjkovci je ob 20. februarju, svetovnem dnevu socialne pravičnosti , s tem lahko tudi zgled šolam, ki takega odnosa do otrok iz najmanj spodbudnih okolij (še) nimajo.
