This week, we bring you the first ever live recording of You and Me Both before a sold-out audience at Symphony Space in New York City. Hillary was joined by singer, actor, and three time Tony Award winner Patti LuPone, while writer and comedian Amber Ruffin served as MC.   Patti is best known for her roles in the Broadway productions of “Company”, “Gypsy”, “Sweeney Todd”, “Anything Goes”, and “Evita”, among others. She's also appeared in many films and television shows, including, most recently, Beau Is Afraid, and the forthcoming Marvel miniseries Agatha: Coven of Chaos. She's currently putting together a new concert: “Patti LuPone: A Life in Notes”. Patti and Hillary talk about her early music education on Long Island and at Julliard, the challenges of performing in “Evita”, and why these days you will find her everywhere but on Broadway, as she seeks out new theatrical experiences as a performer and theatergoer. Together with Hillary, she laughs, she cries, and then she sings!   Event MC Amber Ruffin is an Emmy and WGA Award nominated writer and performer for NBC's “Late Night with Seth Meyers” and her own “The Amber Ruffin Show.” She and her sister, Lacey, co-authored the New York Times bestseller You'll Never Believe What Happened to Lacey: Crazy Stories of Racism and The World Record Book of Racist Stories, and they now co-host the podcast, The Amber & Lacey, Lacey & Amber Show! Amber is also writing a revival of the musical “The Wiz” which began touring America this fall and lands on Broadway in the spring of 2024. She joined Hillary and Patti for an audience Q&A.   See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Meet Nate Carroll.A father of three and a full-time employee.  But did you know Nate know is a Guinness  Book of World Record holder.Nate just completed the world record for most push-ups in one year, totaling over 1.5 million pushups! But how/ why did he do it?From humble backgrounds, Nate felt the need to give back.  He witnessed with the rest of the world, the impact 9/11 put on us.  He saw some run into a burning building to help those that are stuck and ultimately gave their lives to save others.  Seeing this, he knew that he would do something big and give back. With some planning and a purpose, Nate joined up with Tunnels To Towers Foundation to help raise money for those that truly deserve it.  His passion to help give back helped him to get over 4,000 pushups a day.But that's not all.Just like a small business owner, who has to self motivate and show the worls that anything is posdible, Nate wanted to show his kids that they can do anything they set their minds to.Tunnels to Towers Story: Firefighter Stephen Gerard Siller was the youngest of seven children born to Mae and George Siller. At the age of eight, Stephen lost his father, and a year and a half later his mother passed away, leaving him an orphan to be raised by his older siblings. For a while Stephen went through a period of struggle, but thanks to the love of his siblings, and the values instilled in him by his parents, he grew up to be an extraordinary individual and dedicated firefighter. More than most, he knew that time was precious and accomplished much in his 34 years. On September 11, 2001, Stephen, who was assigned to Brooklyn's Squad 1, had just finished his shift and was on his way to play golf with his brothers when he got word over his scanner of a plane hitting the North Tower of the World Trade Center. Upon hearing the news, Stephen called his wife Sally and asked her to tell his brothers he would catch up with them later. He returned to Squad 1 to get his gear.Stephen drove his truck to the entrance of the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel, but it had already been closed for security purposes. Determined to carry out his duty, he strapped 60 lbs. of gear to his back, and raced on foot through the tunnel to the Twin Towers, where he gave up his life while saving others.Stephen had everything to live for; a great wife, five wonderful children, a devoted extended family, and friends. Stephen's parents were lay Franciscans and he grew up under the guiding philosophy of St. Francis of Assisi, whose encouraging and inspirational phrase “while we have time, let us do good” were words that Stephen lived by. Stephen's life and heroic death serve as a reminder to us all to live life to the fullest and to spend our time here on earth doing good – this is his legacy.Author and family friend Jay Price wrote: “Every momentous event, even a tragedy, has its symbolic figures. September 11th was no different; it just had a few more of them. Rudy Giuliani, Father Mychal Judge, the four guys on United Flight 93 … a hundred more … a thousand. None bigger than Stephen Siller, whose stature only grows with time as New Yorkers and people from around the world follow his footsteps.”Check out this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pn5dBHi4IHQSupport the show (https://www.patreon.com/healthfitnessredefined)
