Sorry we missed you last week. But in all seriousness, we gave you MISTER MIZ the week before, so, call it even? We're back and obviously a lot happened since we've been gone. Not all of it makes sense. If they're just gonna have everyone wrestle on both shows-shouldn't they just say that? What's the need for a "Wild Card Rule," exactly? In Segment 2 (33:47) we make our picks for Money In The Bank. Who will be holding the briefcases at the end of the night? Will anyone cash one in during the show? Will Becky still be #Becky2Belts? In Segment 3 (50:50), a great conversation with former WWE Cruiserweight champ TJ Perkins, discussing his incredible career as he's already accomplished an insane amount before even being 35. What's next for him? We also geeked out about the Cruiserweight Classic and he told us something surprising about what happened in the locker room after he won. And we wrapped by discussing Bray Wyatt's reveal, a no good very bad week for Lars and big AEW news.
Anthony Nese is an American professional wrestler currently signed to WWE, where he performs on the cruiserweight-exclusive 205 Live brand under the ring name Tony Nese, and is the current Cruiserweight Champion in his first reign. Tony Nese refers to himself as “The Premier Athlete.” A mainstay of the American independent circuit, Nese brings a certain confidence to the Cruiserweight division. And, to be fair, that confidence is not unfounded. With the most impressive physique in the division, a resume that includes clashes with the likes of Matt Hardy and Paul London, as well as a beyond-impressive 450 Splash, Nese has it all. The Premier Athlete lived up to his considerable hype at WrestleMania 35 when he defeated Buddy Murphy to win the WWE Cruiserweight Title at MetLife Stadium in front of 80,000+ people!!
WWE's cruiserweights has more layers in the onion then you would think. Their history actually dates back to the late 60s and goes across 4 different promotions including WWE, UWA, Michinoku Pro and NJPW. That's not including it's J-Crown adaption. Yes, the WWE Light Heavyweight title was apart of the illustrious J-crown. Hear about it all in this in depth episode of Shellpod. TJ Perkins is the first-ever WWE Cruiserweight Champion, but he's no overnight success! He's been wrestling for 18 years, and he's wrestled everywhere - New Japan, TNA, Mexico, and Ring Of Honor. He's received advice from the late, great Roddy Piper, made TNA's Dixie Carter cry on TV, tried hard to follow in Eddie Guerrero's footsteps, went broke & lived in his car in Florida, rode to shows in the equipment trucks sitting on the turnbuckles, and partially caused a riot at a match in a Texas border town.
