Nate and Mitch are Friends Episode 46!Thank you for taking the time to hear two friends talk for an extended period of time and also for reading this overview. On today's episode, Nate and Mitch discuss some tasty brews that Nate is sippin' on. Nate has never fully watched a fast and furious movie. Sylvester Stallone, his movies, and a possible lost son(?) or at the very least look-a-like get brought up based on the more distinct features of him. Tommy Pickles quotes and inventiveness gets talked about for a total of probably 3 seconds which leads into Nate's new tattoo and Mitch thinking about maybe starting to think about getting a new one. Novelty vehicles in the form of Oscar Meyer mobile and the Planter's peanut mobile get discussed. Nate tells an extremely dumb and over complex joke. For the majority of the rest of the ep, the boys talk about poop, pee, and puke. Normal every day talk for them. Things end with an appreciation for Stone Cold Steve Austin and his IPA.  Again, thank you for listening. It's much appreciated! Peace and love to you all!**New episodes every Friday at 10am CST**Follow us on social mediaTwitter - @Nate_And_Mitch https://twitter.com/Nate_And_MitchInstagram - @nateandmitcharefriends https://www.instagram.com/nateandmitcharefriends/Facebook - @nateandmitcharefriends https://www.facebook.com/nateandmitcharefriends

Mortal Kombat marks the return of the legendary video game franchise to the big screen for the first time in 24 years. Considering its wild success on consoles, the gap is hard to fathom. Certainly Annihilation sort of poisoned the well, but the 1995 original remains popular, as does its techno theme song. The one thing most would agree on, though, is that 95's lack of an R-rating kept it from truly being a Mortal Kombat film. That is no longer an issue. 2021's film boats buckets of blood, and gruesome fatalities that are as true to the game as is probably acceptable for theaters. This is the adaptation die hard fans of Mortal Kombat have been waiting for. But it is not a flawless victory. As I noted in my review, Mortal Kombat suffers from silly plot contrivances, an expedited pace, and an uncharismatic lead. Those issues, however, do not prevent it from rising to the top of the video game film ranks. There is just too much fun to be had. General audiences seem to agree. In its opening domestic weekend, it grossed $22.5 million—the second largest premiere of the pandemic, behind only Godzilla vs Kong. Worldwide, it's already generated over $50 million, nearing its $55 million budget. With a decent critical reaction (56% on Rotten Tomatoes with 211 reviews), box office success, and a built-in sequel tease, it appears a follow up is definitely in the cards. That's good because there are elements here that are noticeably absent. Bring on round two! Now, sit back, uppercut a can of "Stone Cold" Steven Austin's Broken Skull IPA from El Segundo Brewing Co. into your mouth, and attempt to channel your Arcana! I, the Thunderous Wizard (@WriterTLK), Capt. Cash, Chumpzilla, Mayor McCheese, and a special guest are helping Jax pump up his tiny robot arms! This Week’s Segments: Introduction/Plot Breakdown – Heaps of hemoglobin and gnarly fatalities? Count us in! (00:00)   Lingering Questions – We tag in The Double Turn Podcast, and then we tackle the serious questions: Best fight? Best fatality? Most improved character from the 1995 version? And More! (1:04:11) The "Get Over Here" Trivia Challenge – I challenge the field to a series of trivia questions about the movie, as well as the video game series. (1:35:12) Recommendations – After a word from our pals at Hop Nation USA, we offer our picks for the week, and next up: It's the second of our "Hops and Favorite Flops" series, The Chronicles of Riddick! WELCOME TO THE WEDNESDAY NIGHT SLAM! We took our Beer Crew and threw them into the ring with nothing but a pile of empty IPA bottles, a steel chair, a 2x4, and a bag that may or may not have a snake in it. Who will win!? The big winner here is this Steve Austin Broken Skull IPA from El Segundo Brewing Co. in California. Inspired by wrestling and this beer's eponymous namesake, we chat all things wrestling from the WWF days through WWE and WCW. Ric Flair, the Steiner Brothers, Shawn Michaels, Hacksaw Jim (Hooooo!), Hulk Hogan, and more. If they wielded a piece of lumber, furniture, or reptile in the ring, we talk about them. Dive into our barbed wire trivia discussion, which, you would think a crew in Nebraska would know a little more about. No worries, we'll get a roll of it and wind it around Steve Ryan's truck to prepare it for 2020 TWO: The Revenge of Quarantine (Please be joking). Join us for a beer and a chat! We can't say we're gonna whoop your ass (because, legally, our lawyers advised against it), but we do open up a can of this IPA and would definitely recommend it. That's the bottom line, because A Beer With Atlas says so. (And because we're out of beer.) Cheers! (Side Note: I've been to the barbed wire museum, and it was actually pretty dang cool.)

On this episode of the Extraordinary Culture podcast, there is a lot of Disney and Star Wars news as Rick recaps D23 and we look forward to the launch of Disney+ in a couple of months. Dave Chappelle dropped Sticks and Stones, but maybe he should have just held on to them. The final trailer for the Joker dropped and boy, oh boy, are we excited! Lots of new music to talk about this month as Dan and Dan talk about the almighty Bad Religion rocking the Palladium a few weeks ago and the forty year old dads that ran to get Tool’s new album dethroning Taylor Swift from the top of the charts, and a surprising entry into the listens this month. In sports we are nearing the World Series so of course some of the guys are excited. AEW had their latest PPV All Out and Xavier is ready to say “fuck those foos” to the Young Bucks. Finally Antonio Brown was a Raider, then he wasn’t, then he was a Patriot, now he might not be? We are mad for another reason though. Let me hear an “Oh hell yeah!” for this month’s beer share as it Steve Austin’s Broken Skull IPA from El Segundo Brewing Company. We feature even more music from Darker Places. All this and more on this episode of the Extraordinary Culture podcast. Thanks to our sponsors Crown and Stache Barber Company, Chino Valley Brewery, and Made Shop Riverside. This week a cold-ridden Tim Kail hosts a traditional three-part episode of The Work of Wrestling podcast. For The Lock-Up Tim Kail does a real-time tasting & review of Steve Austin and El Segundo Brewing Company's Broken Skull IPA. For The High Spot Tim questions how we deal with falling out of love with a particular art form or artist, opening up about his increasing disinterest in videogames (a form that was once incredibly precious to him). Then, in The Finish, Tim tells a story about how he's recently fallen back in love with something he once believed had lost all of its magic. Follow Tim on Twitter @MaximusWrestler!
