This we on the show Maine and Adam recap the UFC BJJ 9. We run through every single matchup on the card and discuss how many first round finishes took place and overall the general matchmaking that led to that outcome. In the Co-main event Gilbert "Durinho" Burns vs Horlando Monteiro also ended in Rear-Naked Choke in the first round. In Nick Rodriguez vs Joao Nicolite we talked about Nicky Rods body lock passing and turtle attack to a first round Rear-Naked Choke win. In Ffion Davies vs Amanda Bruse we talked about Bruse initial triangle from the back sequence then Ffion escaping to top and passing to the back then finishing with an Armbar in the first round. In Bella Mir vs Nichelle Johnson we talked about the two rounds of control Bella had ending both rounds on the back looking for the RNC then finishing with a Kimura to Armbar transition in the third round. In Achilles Rocha vs Filipe Pimentel we talked about the quick pace and first round Heel Hook win for Achillies. In John Chandler vs Raphael Ferreira we talked about the come from behing third round last second Triangle Choke win from Chandler. In Mourece Ramirez vs Victor Delibero we talked about the back and forth and Unanimous Decision the for Ramirez the only decision of the card. This week on the show Maine and Josh recap Polaris 36 and preview UFC BJJ 6. In the recap section of the show we break down the entire Maine card and every title fight on Polaris 36. We kick off the recap discussing Ethan Crelinsten vs Shai Gerena we talked about Shai pathway to this title fight and career directory as well as Ethan's rear, naked, choke victory in round one to retain his title and UFC call out in his post fight interview. In a recap of Kendall Reusing vs Anabel Lopez we talked about Kendall returning to competition after a number of years away from submission grappling competition and then her fantastic top pressure performance and Armbar submission win to retain the Polaris Openweight Title. In Owen Jones vs Gianni Grippo we discussed the pacing that Owen implemented in the first two rounds and his fantastic Armbar attempt in the second round then we discussed Gianni turn around in the third round with Owen and taking the Unanimous Decision in win the vacant Polaris Featherweight Title. Then we discussed great interest in his call out of Keith Krikorian for his first title defense. In PJ Barch vs Shane Fishman we discussed Barch moving up in weight for this match up and then his Unanimous Decision victory. We also briefly discussed Ross Nicholls vs Sam Gibson where Ross took a Unanimous Decision win. This week on the show Maine and Zak recap CFFC BJJ 16.We kick up we kick off with the recap section of the show discussing how CFFC BJJ is now a direct feeder to the UFC BJJ adopting the same rules used in that organization with the three round system and the same judging criteria.We talk about the main event of Oliver Taza vs Andrew Kochell we discussed some of the passing work from Taza coupled against the entries that Andrew was attempting to make into the legs. We discussed the back in the end of the first round for Taza and then discuss the finishing triangle for Taza in the second round.In the Co-Main event, we discussed the heavyweight matchup between Alexandr Romanov vs Brian Newman. We talked about the foot sweep in the first round from Romonov and then the takedown cattlecatch turnover that Alexandr hit in the second round to eventually take the Beckwith and get the rear naked choke.We also broke down Max Hanson vs Steve Joachim talking about the leg lock entries that Max was able to hit early and the very interesting front split that Steve decided to try and counter the entries with. Plus the superfight between Chris Weidman vs Owen Livesey that ended with Owen taking a close but exciting decision in one of the best takedown matches we have seen in a long time. In the stacked Women's bracket we talked about every match. In the QuarterfinalsFfion Davies took a decision over Giovanna Jara on points, this was the only points win in the first two rounds. Elisabeth Clay submitted Joanna Dineva with a great Reverse Triangle after working on it earlier in the match, Amy Campo submitted Julia Maele with a Rear Naked Choke a little more than halfway through the match. Brianna Ste-Marie submitted Maggie Grindatti with a textbook Armbar after Grindatti escaped one of the deepest non-break Kimura's we have seen ever on the show. In the semifinals Elisabeth Clay submitted Ffion Davies with a Toe Hold in under 3 minutes cementing her slot as one if not the best women's leg locker on the planet. Amy Campo submitted Brianna Ste-Marie with a Rear Naked Choke almost at the buzzer less than 10 seconds before the end of the match.In the finals we saw Elisabeth Clay beat Amy Campo by one points due to Campo sitting back for a leg and Clay taking top position.
