Fall weather lovers, get ready! A major outbreak of cold air will unfold this week, bringing temperatures more typical of mid- to late October across much of the central and eastern US. At least three-quarters of the population east of the Rockies will experience the chill at some point this week. The main areas likely to avoid it include much of the Florida Peninsula, portions of the immediate Atlantic coast and central and South Texas. Also, over the upcoming week, forecasters have been monitoring the anticipated influx of moisture into the Southwestern states. This pattern will even increase the chances for downpours to impact portions of drought-stricken Southern California. one of the best chances to spot the Aurora Borealis will unfold Monday night across Canada and parts of the US. An eruption on the sun over the weekend blasted charged particles into space, and they are on a collision course with Earth. When the charged particles reach the planet, it will set off a colorful display of the Aurora Borealis. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

Send us a textThis week, we break down the tension between Jerome Powell and Donald Trump—and what it actually means for monetary policy. If you listened to Powell's latest remarks at the Economic Club of Chicago, you may not have thought much of it, but anyone knows how to decode the Fed's deliberately vague words noticed unmistakably hawkish tone. We explain how to read between the lines of Fed speak, what it really means when the Fed prioritizes price stability over growth. We also get into why Trumps remarks on Truth Social led some to be concerned he's considering firing the Fed Chair... we discuss what that would mean for the credibility of U.S. markets. We dive into the economics of elite universities and the real impact of pulling federal research funding. We explain how endowments actually work, where that money goes, and why cutting research dollars isn't just about punishing a school—it risks gutting innovation across biotech, national defense, and the U.S. economy more broadly. Finally, we unpack the return of the Big Tech breakup debate. With Meta and Google back in court over antitrust issues, we explain what a corporate spinoff actually is, how it works, and why breaking up a giant like Meta might help your portfolio. From conglomerate discounts to split-offs and subsidiary IPOs, we walk through the corporate finance mechanics that could drive the next big move in tech.Sign up for our Talent Accelerator HERE today! It could soon be expensive to be an illegal immigrant in the United States. A law from 1996 is now being enforced by the Department of Homeland Security, which can fine illegal immigrants up to $998 each day they refuse to leave the country, and can also allow the government to seize their assets. In addition to this, the White House is promoting a hotline for immigration enforcement, where anyone can anonymously report illegal immigrants to authorities. And alongside this, the Trump administration has now won a Supreme Court case on the enforcement of the Alien Enemies Act.
Why is propaganda and empty rhetoric so appealing to some people? In this midweek episode, Frank explains how the first of 'The Screwtape Letters' by C.S. Lewis perfectly illustrates the way demons manipulate human beings, now and throughout history. He'll also explore the recent power struggles between the Trump Administration and the lower district court judge who blocked Trump's transgender military ban. Frank will answer questions like:Why is using "jargon" instead of evidence-based arguments not good thinking? What specific tactics does C.S. Lewis say demons use to tempt humans and where do we see evidence of this happening in our culture today?Do all people have the right or privilege to serve in the military? Was Trump's decision to say transgender people are not qualified to serve in the military unconstitutional? Why is it so difficult to impeach judges, and do we really have only three branches of government? What do a lot of people get wrong about Islam?Frank also tackles some listener questions about who will be resurrected (is it only Christians?) and whether an old-earth contradicts biblical genealogies. Plus, he'll reveal details about his numerous speaking events coming up this spring—so listen closely to see if he's coming to a city near you!Resources mentioned during the episode:The ScrewTape Letters by C.S. To kick off a contentious week for the USA, we share one of our FAVORITE stories about the thread that binds us, our goals, our dreams, and yes, even our money. Laura Schroff was a high-powered executive in Manhattan when her life was changed forever by an 11-year old boy. It's a story you won't soon forget. Plus, we're thrilled that Scott Trench, BiggerPockets CEO joins us as guest co-host. We talk about crypto, athletes, and their money. It's our favorite way to discuss how your own money decisions could be better made. We also dive into non-compete contracts. That world has been changing quickly, and we've got you covered.
