In true Beer O'Clock style we're following up one of our most out of date episodes with one of our most up to date episodes! Thanks again for listening guys. Please like, subscribe, review us on your podcast platform of choice - everything helps more people find the show. As usual; questions, comments, suggestions or general statements to angus@beeroclockaustralia.com or dylan@beeroclockaustralia.com & we'll be back soon, with any luck! Please let us know if you're coming to Brew Asia and want to have a chat! Remember it's always Beer O'Clock somewhere in the world!
Due to weight restrictions we needed to get some beers drunk! So here are 3 new entries to the ranking of lagers.
BrewAsia Day 2 - 5 interviews, lots of beers, lots of chat.
Interview from the BrewAsia Media Booth with Germaine Clerx, International Sales Manager for Blefa. We talked about how they produce 1.7m kegs a year, which are sold in every country from A-Z. They're accredited to 4 ISO Standards and have industry leading welding technology. Germaine also kept us plied with Pilsner throughout the 2 days for which we are eternally grateful.
Interview from the BrewAsia Media Booth with Leon & Liz, Co-owners & brewers from Tenggara Brewing Co in Indonesia. They are home brewers, turned contract brewers who after a lengthy 2 year process were finally able to produce their first beers in February 2024. This is a really good chat that covers the difficulties of brewing in Indonesia as well as the close community they've found themselves among.
Interview from the BrewAsia Media Booth with Paul Jones, Co-founder of Cloudwater Brew Co in Manchester, UK. This was a really thoughtful wide ranging conversation that delved into the depths of the industry. If you've only got time for one of these interviews I would make it this one. Paul was one of the key note speakers at BrewAsia & we were privileged to have him join us.
Interview from the BrewAsia Media Booth with George Wade, Co-Founder & COO of Zevero. We discussed their Carbon Management solutions, how it helps the brewing industry & the planet as well as talking about how employees get to work can impact your carbon footprint. If that sounds dry, don't worry it isn't! It's a really good chat with an engaging guest who is passionate about what he does. More information can be found here: https://www.zevero.earth/ The Decarbonisation Guide George mentioned in the interview can be found here: https://hubs.ly/Q02S6WlF0 To Book a Demo: https://www.zevero.earth/book-a-demo To Connect With Georgehttps://www.linkedin.com/in/georgewade-zevero/
Interview from the BrewAsia Media Booth with Wendy Chng Petit of Les Vergers Boiron, & Bret Kollmann Baker, COO Urban Artifact & Beer Ambassador for Les Vergers Boiron. In this interview we discuss the range of fruit purees offered by Les Vergers Boiron, their application in brewing & collaborations with Singaporean brewers. Bret is going to be in Melbourne next week at La Sirene to launch a collaboration brew. Details can be found here: https://www.instagram.com/eustralis.food/p/DAf2z36tMB6/?img_index=1 Details for how to contact Les Vergers Boiron in Australia & New Zealand are listed below if you're interested in trying their fruit purees in your own brewery. BrewAsia Day 1 - 3 interviews, lots of beers, lots of chat, lots of promise for tomorrow.
Interview from the BrewAsia Media Booth with Stanley Boots, Chairman of 7 Bridges Brewing in Vietnam. We discussed 7 Bridges' Zero Waste efforts, upcoming rebrand & embracing the chaos of alternative revenue streams.
Interview from the BrewAsia Media Booth with Don Viteri, now CEO of Rooster Beer from Vietnam. Don joins us to discuss his new role, what Rooster has beer up to since we last spoke & discusses the latest season of The Bear - amongst other things.
Interview from the BrewAsia Media Booth with Will Julius, Managing Director of Lion Brewery Co in Singapore. It's a really enjoyable conversation where we discuss everything from brewing in and exporting to multiple countries as well as the possibility of a Durian beer.

Welcome back to the Beer O'Clock podcast, it's been a long, long time between drinks! It feels like every month I'm apologizing for how hectic it's been around here - but maybe that is just the new normal... With any luck this is the first of a few episodes that we get out roughly a month or so apart. If this is your first time listening to a Beer O'Clock Australia podcast, welcome! We change the segments up a little each month, however most months we'll discuss some of the latest news from the beer world, we'll talk about some beers that we've been enjoying over the last month & we'll crack something interesting from my cellar. This episode we cover, in true Beer O'Clock fashion, plenty of (very, very) outdated news, add two lagers to our master list & crack a cellar offering. As a special Grand Final Eve eve treat we have an interview for you all! We've been meaning to get Evin on the podcast for a couple of months to discuss Bright's Paktech Recycling Initiative. For a multitude of reasons it got delayed until we managed to catchup over Zoom this week. It worked out in our favour as we were able to have a far more wide reaching chat than we were initially intending. Evin is a seriously passionate guy & it comes across really well. In this chat we cover a wide range of topics from sustainability & recycling, staff injuries, Bright's evolving position in the market through 15 years of operation, COVID's impact on the business & so much more. We hope you enjoy!

As I said last month, with any luck, one day soon, you'll see a Beer O'Clock post that isn't just a new podcast episode... Lots of stuff is going on behind the scenes, 5 or 6 posts are nearing completion, which will hopefully turn into a rush of posts in the not too distant future. Hopefully you enjoy the episode! We discuss our various Good Beer Week shenanigans as well as some of the beers we've enjoyed recently & add the national beer of Serbia to our Ranking of Lagers. I hope those of you who have been able to get to Melbourne have enjoyed the triumphant return of Good Beer Week. We've got a special interview for you today with one of the country's up and coming breweries, that many of you outside the Gold Coast will never have heard of; Madocke. Special thanks to Dylan for conducting this interview in my absence & to Annelies for giving up some of her evening to have a chat. Her story (& husband Jimmy's) from Belgium to one of the most unusual breweries you've seen to a soon to open brewery & taproom in Ashmore is one of the most unique in an industry where stories often seem to be cut from the same cloth. With the opening of their new facility I think people beyond the Gold Coast will soon be hearing a log more about these fantastic people making wonderful beer! As many of you would be aware, Australia's largest craft beer focussed Facebook group was shut down without warning earlier this month. We're joined by the founder of Australian Craft Beer Crew (CBC), Matt Brown, to talk us through the origin of CBC and update everyone on what's happening with CBC. Please help Matt out by liking the page: https://www.facebook.com/CraftBeerCrewAu And by joining the new group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/australiancraftbeercrew Special thanks to Matt for giving up some of his evening to have a chat, he was a wonderful guest, incredibly passionate about the industry & we can only wish him all the best with his endeavours to resurrect the wonderful community he had built. If you've got this far, firstly congratulations, secondly, I have a favour to ask. Dylan, myself & a few like minded individuals are doing a 24 hour video game stream over the 1st & 2nd of May to raise money for Berry Street, a charity that does wonderful work with Australia's young & vulnerable. We would love for you to join us on the day over at https://www.twitch.tv/totallyrealrobot & to donate to a great cause at https://www.mycause.com.au/page/249300/peak-performance-2021. Thanks for the indulgence guys, I really hope you've enjoyed the episode.
This episode is very much a classic Beer O'Clock Australia Podcast; it's late, it's long, there's minor technical difficulties (hopefully not too noticeable) & it's pretty good (if we do say so ourselves!).
