The die is cast and our intrepid heroes don't have much time to escape the Stockade.  It's time for a breakout!

The Misfits are coming back together, or at least attempting to, as their time at the Stockade draws to an end.

On the night of November 25, 2022, Samantha Humphrey, a teenager from Schenectady, left her home around 11 p.m. and made her way to Riverside Park, located in the Stockade neighborhood. Her mother, Jaclyn Humphrey, revealed that Samantha's departure was motivated by a desire to meet her ex-boyfriend, a relationship that had raised concerns among family members due to allegations of abuse. This troubling context set the stage for a series of events that would lead to a tragic outcome. That evening, tensions escalated between Samantha and her ex-boyfriend, culminating in a physical altercation. Reports indicate that during the confrontation, Samantha bit her ex on the arm, a desperate act that underscored the volatile nature of their relationship. This incident marked a pivotal moment in the timeline of her disappearance, as it was the last known interaction before she went missing, leaving her family and community in a state of distress and uncertainty. Three months later, in February 2023, the search for Samantha ended with the discovery of her body. An autopsy was conducted, but the results were inconclusive regarding the cause of death, prompting the Schenectady police to classify the case as a homicide investigation. The forensic pathologist's inability to determine a definitive cause may have been influenced by the possibility that her body had been submerged in the river for an extended period. Despite the lack of clarity surrounding her death, Samantha's family remains convinced that she was murdered, and they have recently provided updates on the ongoing search for her killer, including an increased reward for information leading to an arrest.Locating The Lost

A Taranaki businessman and arts patron is putting the finishing touches to a life-sized replica of the Ōmata Stockade on the outskirts of New Plymouth. Built in 1860, the original military defence post was the only one of about 60 in Taranaki constructed entirely by Pākehā settlers. Our Taranaki Whanganui reporter has been to Ōmata.

On July 19, 1963, 30 Black girls were arrested while marching to protest segregation in Americus, Georgia. After spending a night in jail, they were transferred to the one-room Lee County Stockade and imprisoned for the next 45 days. Only twenty miles away, the girls' parents had no knowledge of their location. A month into their confinement, the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) heard rumors of the girls' detention and sent photographer Danny Lyon, who took pictures of them through barred windows. Within days, those photographs appeared in publications around the country. As the girls' ordeal gained national attention, they were released without charges. This week on Brews News Week Matt flies solo but discusses the news of the week with the people making news. First up, he chats with Anton Szpitalak from Tribe Brewing about Tribe's  announcement this week that it has signed an agreement to brew Pabst Blue Ribbon. Anton and his family formed Brewpack in 2012 when they acquired the assets of collapsed contractor Australian Independent Brewers. Later the business added its proprietary brand Stockade and this year changed its name to Tribe when it took on investment from Melbourne-based private equity firm Advent Partners to fund its current expansion plans. And Pabst Blue Ribbon is a venerable old beer brand that has been resurrected as an ironic alternative to the US's mainstream staples. The brand is owned by a Eugene Kashper and private equity investor TSG Partners, which also happens to own 23% of Scottish brewery BrewDog. The Pabst brand, which is currently contract brewed by SAB Miller in the US, won Large Brewing Company of the Year at the 2016 Great American Beer Festival and took gold for best American-style lager. It's an interesting move for Tribe and this is a robust chat with Anton. Then we look at alcohol free beer as this week CUB announced it had launched Carlton Zero, an a beer with functionally no alcohol. While Australia is arguably the king of mid-strength beer, and zero alcohol beers are a growing trend in Europe, the US and Canada, Matt is not convinced that there is the market for them in Australia.   We discuss the issue with CUB beverage innovation brewer Scott Vincent who worked on the development of the beer to learn about how a non alcohol beer is made while retaining flavour, and then we chat with Tim Ovadia, CUB's Director Of Classic Brands & Local Premium about why they think there's a market for it at all. Anton was talked into taking over the former Australian Independent Breweries business which he rebranded as Brewpack and turned around its fortunes. From contract brewing he has expanded into his own branded product in the shape of Stockade, and recently opened a brewery / barrel room in Marrickville. The rebranded Tribe Breweries is expanding with a $35-million production brewery in Goulburn and also expanding into production for the Asian market.
