The WSL dropped a bomb on the surf world this week, and like Swedish captives, we all collectively cheered. On this episode of The Drop, Stab's co-founder Sam McIntosh is joined by the WSL's new CEO Ryan Crosby to discuss the League's major (and widely lauded) around for the 2026 CT season. Here's the TLDR version, ICYMI: - The Final Five is dead. - So is the mid-year cut - So is the non-elimination opening round - The 2026 Championship Tour will feature 12 events — with a late season ‘playoff'. - It will start at Bells Beach in April and end at Pipeline in December, where points will be weighted at 150%. - World Titles will once again be decided by cumulative points, not a single-day shootout. After that, Mikey and Buck hop on to discuss a few other stories from the week, including an incredible Greg Browning eulogy, a piece on lineup personalities, and an academic excuse for surfing more.
It's not often you get to speak to someone hours after the greatest day in their life, so hear in real time what the Bells Beach Pro win meant to Aussie surfer Isabella Nichols. Nichols chats to Declan Byrne on 'The Saturday Sledge' about the cut throat nature of the tour, missing her twin sister's wedding for a surf event, her Dad's Broncos obsession and Danish surfing experiences.

The Monk and the Sea: Finding Inner Harmony with Delta Waves and Reiki Bells. "In a faraway land, there was a wise and noble monk named Chen who lived in a small, secluded monastery by the sea. Every day, Chen would wake up early and spend hours meditating and practicing spiritual disciplines in order to purify his thoughts and remove all negative energy from his being. One morning, as Chen sat on a cushion in his quiet meditation chamber, he closed his eyes and began to listen to the soothing sounds of delta waves and the gentle chime of reiki bells. He let the vibrations of the sounds wash over him, feeling a deep sense of peace and clarity fill his mind and body. As he sat there, Chen could feel the negative energy being drawn out of him, like a magnet pulling out impurities. He breathed deeply, feeling a sense of renewal and rejuvenation as the waves and bells cleansed his spirit. Outside, the waves of the sea crashed against the shore, adding to the peaceful atmosphere of the monastery. Chen felt a deep connection to the natural world, and knew that the sounds of the sea and the vibrations of the reiki bells were helping him to find inner harmony and balance. As the sun began to rise higher in the sky, Chen knew that it was time to end his meditation. But he knew that he would return to this peaceful practice every day, using the sounds of the sea and the reiki bells to purify his thoughts and remove all negative energy from his being." Bob McKnight is the Co-Founder, Former Chairman and CEO of Quiksilver and one of the pioneers of the modern surfing industry. Bob McKnight majored in business at USC and had gone on some major surf trips. One of them being to Bali where he met pro surfer Jeff Hakman and his future wife. That trip would change Bob's life forever. Jeff had met Alan Green in Bells Beach, Australia after he won the contest there. Alan had set up a company called Quiksilver making the first ever shorts for surfers. Jeff and Bob convinced Alan to license Quiksilver for the North American market. They started manufacturing and selling board shorts out of Bob's VW van up and down the country to surf shops. The surf shops couldn't get enough of Quiksilver. They were at the beginning of the modern surf industry and they went from being a start up to becoming a multi-million dollar business. Quiksilver were the first surfing company to go public on the New York Stock Exchange and the first to launch a female range, Roxy. They expanded into skateboarding and snow and by the mid 2000's Quiksilver was worth 2.5 Billion dollars. Competition increased, recessions came and Quiksilver hit some rocky times. They restructured and formed Boardriders Inc incorporating brands Billabong DC Shoes, RVCA, Element, VonZipper, Kustom. Bob still wears boardshorts and the stoke is alive and well. Enjoy and get rad!You can follow what Quiksilver is up on Instagram at quiksilverLike what you hear?
