In this episode, Deborah has a virtual sit down with Mike Robinson the co-founder of Ikoyi Champans Original. Have a listen and enjoy! To order click here About Ikoyi Chapman The Ikoyi Chapmans journey started for Mike and Garry Robinson in the late 1960's at The Ikoyi Club in Lagos, Nigeria. Their parents were based in West Africa for over 30 years and during school holidays Mike and Garry would go to The Ikoyi Club to play squash and tennis. After these exertions in the heat and humidity of West Africa, one of the Club barmen would mix the most amazing, refreshing, thirst-quenching drink that was popular with everyone. It had a unique taste like no other drink and to this day they have never tasted anything like it....until now, that is. The Ikoyi Club name for this drink was Chapmans. In the 1980s and back in the UK, Mike and Garry became professional squash players and they continued to mix and drink Chapmans as both a great thirst-quencher and a great social drink. After their squash years they also discovered that it is a great cocktail mixer, blending particularly well with gin, whisky, rum and Prosecco...truly an all round drink to enjoy. For many years their dream has been to produce this drink for everyone to enjoy.

This Week’s Episode of Corporate HARD TALK. In this episode, Deborah chats with Kerry North a CSR professional. Deborah states “I met Kerry as a Project Leader of the O2 Think Big an initiative Powered by O2 Telefonica supporting young people with funds for their start-up ideas. We learned on this episode that Kerry is from a STEM background but pursued a career in helping businesses do good through (CSR). Our conversation was very intimate we shared similar experiences of how teachers and the education system would sometimes shut young people down because of their academic strengths. "Talking to Kerry was so fun and real" Deborah
In this episode, Deborah chats with Dele Momodu the CEO and Publisher of Ovation International Magazine. Dele spoke very candidly to us about his background most especially academic strengths in Yoruba and English (literature). He studied at the Obafemi Awolowo University, worked for free as a journalist, built his network, and time away from his home country Nigeria opened an avenue to create a magazine (platform) that celebrates and gives publicity to Africa’s crème de la crème. DCHT listeners, we talk a lot about networking on this platform, our conversation with Dele further explores and truly confirms networking is an art. Deborah states “as a young girl from Nigeria growing up in South East London, Ovation magazine would catch my eyes on the newsstand. Usually at the bottom or at the side of the rack but nevertheless the large glossy magazine would still standout with pictures of glamourous Africans”.

Tired of the pandemic to be precise but really grateful to be part of the living *let’s put the violin away* Today we received some analysis on Corporate HARD TALK coverage on Spotify, very impressive in an understatement. According to the statistics we are listened to in 9 countries (US,UK and Canada) we are global !!!!!! What will you be doing to wind down this year? It is very important to take some time out to relax. One way to relax is to mentally switch off, take time off work or even quit your job if you can afford to do so, noting is worth you feeling unhappy during these uncertain times (alright maybe don’t quit) but try and take time out to just relax and absolutely do nothing. I find it very interesting and equally upsetting that majority of the content we consume is coming straight out of America, if you type in how to make money online , I am sure 99% of the search results is US based. There is nothing wrong with that , we have to give our US friends a round of applause for pioneering online contents. However today I come with a little gift which I would like to title “ 10 ways to make quick cash in the UK” or should I name it 10 ways I have made money….. Here we go and do please take them with a pinch of salt (I have made money by doing the following). I elaborate on this on my awesome podcast click here to listen
As we wind down for the year, I am back with my usual conversational episodes talking about my favourite topic of Networking. Have a listen and let me know your thoughts.
Here is the final episode review of the The Apprentice UK. Enjoy
Episode 10 of The Apprentice UK
Better late than never, episode 9 review ... sorry to Thomas Skinner
Deborah is bac with a spanking new episode and is exploring anxiety about work and career. Have a listen and get involved in the conversations #DeborahCorporateHardTalk @DeborahHardTalk
Deborah is back with her review of the Apprentice week 5 and 6, discussing the wining and losing team plus the controversial debate surrounding the show . Week 5 and 6 review episode, so on this episode the conversation about racism on The Apprentice is becoming a little more apparent. Why you ask ... well at first I was all buzzing about the fact and visibility that the show has many diversity from ethnic to social.Week 6 Iasha was fired , making her the 5th BAME to be fired in the space of 6 weeks. I am not here to discuss that but it cannot be avoided, this episode saw the team create their own roller coaster . Okay let's talk about it, I personally don't think Alan is racist , maybe he just doesn't feel connected to the candidates (working with people is all about connection, omg you like a corona , I LIKE CORONA) because they may not share the social and cultural values! oh all is this a bull point of view ? I also feel like he picks candidates that he thinks their business will make him more money. shame about Iasha though because she made over 1m when she was project manager ! Is this a reflection of what BAME go though in the working world (discrimination) I am personally in lala land about not getting opportunity because of my ethnicity, I say you better send the lift down so I can get up , if you don't I will fly up there . don't test me ..... This African girl is not for turning (DEFINITELY WILL NEVER CHANGE MY MIND ABOUT FLYING UP THERE TO GET WHAT IS MINE) I LOVE A GOOD SMACK TALK :Comment your thoughts below and click on my link to listen to my review.
Deborah is back! On this episode we explore how to cope with changes at work, from people change to system change, how do we cope and keep going on with day to day duties. Have a listen and let me know your thoughts.
Week 4 of The apprentice UK , candidates were asked to create electronic bikes and sell it to retailers. You won't believe one of the team won by selling 1.2 million of deals.
Deborah reviews week 3 of The Apprentice UK, the task was to design toys for 6-8 years old and sell it to retailers. For 250k we see grown adults take a trip down memory lane into their childhood , some ideas and delivery was exactly what was ordered, some completely messed up the order (Turtles as a motivational toy). Huh!
Deborah reviews week 2 of The Apprentice UK, the task was to make ice lollies and make a profit. The boardroom was melting , as they say if you can't stand the heat, get out! Have a listen of my thoughts on the candidate and Alan and his mates.
Welcome back to DCHTPodcast , In this episode I am doing a review of Season 17 of The Apprentice UK , why not as it is all about corporate and professional , I love the show . Have a listen and message me your thoughts as well/
Welcome and happy Autumn ! Deborah's Corporate hard talk is BACK! In this episode DA explored what it means to have extra Co-curricular/ Curriculum Activities . Focusing on coaching, public speaking , attending networking events and involvement in generosity cohort.
Have you ever felt so tired , so tired that you feel uninspired? Everything just feels blank and not your cup of tea. This episode of Deborah's Corporate Hard Talk Deborah shares how she deals with this feeling and horrible state.
In this lastest episode of “DCHTPODCAST, Deborah explores and comments on the recent speech by the entrepreneur /Philanthropist Robert F Smith at Morehouse College Commencement Speech. Word on the street is he cleared over 400 student’s debt please do the maths ! why is this not continuously trending , a question I keep asking myself.. I have decided to listen to his message and comment on it , if you haven’t listened to it , here are the 5 key points/advice he gave the fresh debt free graduands You need to know nothing replaces doing the work Think about taking risk (responsible ones) Be intentional about the word you use You are enough We all have the responsibility to liberate one another…. He said a couple more , head over to my podcast to have a listen! I personally feel Robert did not only relief the students of their debts but he broke the curse of bad stereotyping and re birthed the boys , making them feel brand new , the morehouse graduates, after that speech may have felt like they can rule the world.
In this episode of DCHTPodcast Deborah explore why it is important to push your self to have difficult conversations. What are the difficult conversation , I hear you ask . In this episode has been narrowed down to 3 points (asking for a pay rise, asking for promotions, negotiating) Additionally asking for a change of you work , I believe all the above are difficult conversations to have especially if you don't want to loo forward. Have a listen and let me know your thoughts.
In this episode of DCHTPodcast Deborah talks about feeling sad and less at work. Have you ever been in a situation where your are allowing your job or career define who you are and affecting your self esteem, well it is time to re adjust your mindset and know that you are not your job!
In this episode titled Coping with rejection : Job Application where I talk about how I have coped with rejection believe rejection is an everyday issue in my world, from asking my daughter “can mummy have a bite” and she says “NO!!!!!” (jokes she is still mastering the concept of sharing) Haha really but I am sure this is something we’ve all been through when we apply for jobs. I noticed it happens when you are applying for positions which can put you in a higher position and the ouch rejection is when you are applying for positions you feel overqualified for , and you still get the “Unfortunately” line . Anyway Dchtpodcast should not be mistaken for a professional service, or career coaching but much more relaxed angle when talking about our professional/corporate affair. I am just sharing how I cope , you can go ahead and listen and let me know how you also cope. Until next week goodbye : )
Deborah is back with a spanking new season and episode. This episode of Deborah's Corporate Hard Talk is all about Networking, on the #DCHTPODCAST platform , we believe network is key and it's all about meeting people with a purpose and also realising that when you go around connecting with people, you also have as much to offer.
In this episode of DCHT Deborah is back all by herself. did you miss her ? Well to round off the year we are talking about brexit how to look on the positive angle (don't for one second think this is a time to slow down). Here at DCHT we feel this is the time to have our eyes and ears open for new opportunities. Furthermore let's not let BAD Recruiters pry on us by taking vulnerable candidates on a very sad ride of false hopes, be very vigilant on who you talk to especially about your data as it is gold. Deborah end's the episode encouraging listeners to aim for a result driven year (no mundane to do list ) decide on a vision and align it with actionable list. Additionally 2019 is a year where Deborah thinks we need to unlearn everything in order to find new and developed version of ourselves. Happy New Year DCHT listeners. I LOVE YOU :)
