What is it that data science recruiters are looking for in an ideal job candidate? Ben Auffarth is Head of Data Science for Loveholidays and joins Wendy on this week’s Would You Data Scientist. Ben talks through what he looks for in a potential new hire, as well as how you can develop after pivoting, and how we can keep AI diverse. KEY TAKEAWAYS Ben’s advice for someone looking to pivot is to develop your weaknesses. For example if you come from research you should work on your programming and software engineering. Setting a goal and making a plan of how you can achieve that can help you develop. In the current recruitment Ben is doing, there is a wide range of skill sets within the candidates. Some are very strong on the technical side whereas some have better developed communication skills which are also important for therole. All candidates being equal skills and education wise, Ben would look to hire people who show potential, have a great attitude, and show that they are socially interested. How many years of experience you have is a pretty irrelevant thing to have in a job posting. Just because someone has been doing something for longer it has no bearing on the quality of their work. BEST MOMENTS ’They needed people doing their data who were also good at programming’ ‘If you can bounce off each other in a team then you can work so much better’ ‘Attitude is the most important thing’ ‘A CV just tells you how well someone can write a CV’ EPISODE RESOURCES Ben on LinkedInFind Ben's book here VALUABLE RESOURCES linkedin.com/in/ethicalrecruiterqwerkrecruitment.com@qwerkrec on socials ABOUT THE GUEST Ben is a data scientist with more than 15 years of research and work experience in England, Japan, Germany, Sweden, and Spain. Gospel Scripture: (all NIV) Romans 3:23 “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,” Romans 3:24 “and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.” Romans 3:25 (a) “God presented him as a sacrifice of atonement, through faith in his blood.” Hebrews 9:22 (b) “without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.” Romans 5:8 “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:11 “Not only is this so, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.” John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” Romans 10:9 “That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” Luke 15:10 says “In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.” Romans 8:1 “Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus” Ephesians 1:13–14 “And you also were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God's possession- to the praise of his glory.” Ephesians 1:15–23 “For this reason, ever since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints, I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers. I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is like the working of his mighty strength, which he exerted in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every title that can be given, not only in the present age but also in the one to come. And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way.” Ephesians 2:8–10 “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God‘s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.“ Ephesians 2:13 “But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near through the blood of Christ.“ Philippians 1:6 “being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”

“Do what you love and the money will follow…” “Once you find what you love, the wealth will come…”“Just follow your passion!”These are the worst career advises ever. In the real world, your passion may not be what the market demands or what your career requires. You can't do what you love and expect others to pay for it.A lot of people think that BaZi astrology can simply tell them what the perfect job is for them or what is “suitable” for them. There is no such thing. Achieving success in your career or business won't happen if you are not willing to do what it takes. Not everything is going to fit into what you want and be according to what you like.If you want to achieve success, you have to be great at what you do.Your astrology chart may point you towards your suitable field or industry, but it won't be ideal if you suck at the job. In order to make things easier, you have to get better. In order to get anything you want, there is a price to be paid. This is the principle of cause and effect. If you want to know how you can unlock the potential written in your BaZi chart, watch this video.Let me know your thoughts on this subject in the comments below.JY #career #job #passionDownload the Thriver's Guide 2021: http://www.joeyyap.com/2021Watch the full video here: https://youtu.be/QvxPpFyetvk===================================================Do these before you leave…Subscribe To My Channel ➡️ http://www.joeyyap.com/ytGet Daily Tips ➡️ http://www.joeyyap.com/telegramDM Me ➡️ https://www.instagram.com/djoeyyap/Follow Me ➡️ https://www.facebook.com/datojoeyyapJoin The Community ➡️ https://www.facebook.com/groups/JYUniverseBooks ➡️ http://store.joeyyap.comWebsite ➡️ http://www.joeyyap.com/
Figuring out what your preferred salary is in your ideal job --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app
James Onieal sat down with the Wealth Preservation Podcast, again, to discuss the ins and outs of what he does aside from his aviation job: career consulting. If you listened to our first episode with James, you’ll know why he decided to become a career consultant and help others advance their careers. In this episode, you’ll hear the strategy, tactics, and psychology behind James’ method. James brings together a data driven analysis of career decisions and utilizes emotionally driven strategies that can yield a leg up on the competition. We review things like disarming honesty, networking around competitive minimums, leveraging graceful status demotions, and making your resume look like the job position’s predecessors – NOT the job description. As in his first episode, James brings knowledge and coaching alongside his own sarcastic sense of humor. We, on the Wealth Preservation Podcast, LOVE when someone hits an absolute brick wall, has the cards stacked against them, and they are able to innovate themselves out of a hole.If you enjoyed James‘ episode and want to hear from more entrepreneurs and strategists, please check out and subscribe to one of our many channels and visit our website. Actually, the International tourist guide can be my favorite job in my mind, and certainly, I would work hard on that field as well. You know, the ability of communication and the second language seems quite important. I need to master a second language, like English, Japanese, or French for example. as I need to show my tourists something one or two on the journey. So, an international language is required. Additionally, all what I have to do is about having a better understand of historical knowledge, ranging from Chinese history to European stories, from Asian period to American dreams. I wouldn't feel feverous if I could recite all of these knowledge. Above all, this job will necessarily help me widen my horizons. The general knowledge of this world wouldn't be limited any more. You know, what I am trying to say is that I can benefit a lot from doing this work. Apparently, I will hunt a job like this someday on the Internet, I have interest in doing that. That is it.

Sam told me to share our conversation about job applications, so here it is!! When I first graduated, it was tough for me to know WHICH jobs to apply for. I had little to no experience, and I had NO idea what I wanted to do or would be good at doing. It started out as applying for EVERY job under the sun but after a couple years I was able to learn more about myself. i know which departments I'd rather be in, and what industries might suit me better. It takes time to LEARN about yourself, and some jobs that you apply for you just KNOW you won't want. That's actually how you being to learn. When you picture yourself in that job, you just know it's not for you.

A lot of water is moved from the western part of Colorado to the east where much of the state's population lives. Those diversions involve a complex system of pipes, reservoirs, pumps, and canals to keep the whole operation flowing. Setting aside the heated politics of moving resources from one basin to another, the conveyance of water under the Continental Divide is an engineering triumph, and in one case, for a couple living isolated in a high mountain valley, it's a "pipe dream" come true.
Brian Carraway is the Founder of Flying Squirrel Outfitters and has built his hammock company with a social conscience to empower women in the small villages in Northern Thailand but he once had a normal, ideal job in Seattle. He was living downtown right by Pike Place Market and had a dream job with a great company but upon returning from a long vacation and staring at the 100s of emails in his inbox, he knew he was done. He was dreaming of pursuing something different but he really didn’t know what that was so on the day that the Seattle Seahawks won the Super Bowl in 2013 and the city was at the pinnacle of excitement, he was on a plane leaving it behind. Where was he going, to Chang Mai Thailand. “I came to Thailand with the mentality that I was not on vacation.” Since that moment, he’s re-established himself and is building a Hammock Company with a social conscience. He uses all local products and then his employees the seamstresses are women in the small villages of Thailand that didn’t even have a way to make money until Brian came along. He is empowering these women through ethical job creation. In this episode we discuss... Moving his life to minimalism by selling his car and biking to work. Meditating to come to the conclusion that he was done with his job that he loved. Taking what he learned from Red Fin and the entrepreneurial environment with him to apply in his next business move. Leaving Seattle on Super Bowl Sunday at the height of the city’s excitement. Landing in Thailand and getting out of vacation mode by starting to teach English for income. Building a company to empower women in the small villages of Thailand. The steps to build a company outside of the US and import into the US. And the hammocks, they are beautiful, they are hand-sewn and completely adjustable like no other camping hammock you’ve ever seen. Dr. Ande will give you tips and tactics that will help you find and win your DREAM JOB.What happened? Somewhere between the “great depression” and the “information age,” job hunting wasn’t the stressful task it is today. A guy like your Dad or your grandfather worked the same job clear up to retirement. After putting in his 20, 30 or 40 years his boss would give him a gold watch and a pension for his faithful years of service. Sadly, that is no longer the case. Every day we see more and more jobs being eroded by more technology or actually re-assigning your position to someone half way across the world! Instead of planning on putting in your time then enjoying the fruits of your labor, you are lucky if the job lasts more than a year or so before you get the pink slip that tells you that the company is “re-aligning their resources” and your position is being eliminated!
