Distorted Minds is a comedy podcast where hosts Kevin Hill and Keith Holland talk about their lives, crack jokes and basically try their best to make each other laugh. The content on this show can be filthy and/or dark at times so let this be a caution to anyone who may be sensitive to that sort of…
It's been a minute, but Distorted Minds is finally back with an all-new movie talk episode! Drew's pick this week is the 2015 crime/comedy movie Dope, from director Rick Famuyiwa. It's about a group of high school kids who accidentally end up with a big bag of drugs and are forced to sell them. Kevin's choice this time is Alexander Payne's 2004 dramedy film, Sideways. It stars Paul Giamatti and Thomas Haden Church as a couple of friends who go out to wine country before one of them gets married. Big thanks to anyone who's still tuning in, we love you and have a great week! --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/distortedminds/support
Lights, camera, ACTION! It's time to talk movies once again and we had a pretty good discussion about these two films. Drew's choice this week is Guy Ritchie's 2019 action/crime movie, The Gentlemen. With an ensemble cast including Matthew McConaughey, Charlie Hunnam, Colin Farrell and more, it's a pretty fun time. Kevin's pick is the 2008 Darren Aronofsky sports/drama film, The Wrestler starring Mickey Rourke, Marisa Tomei and more. It's a tragic, heavy story which is the type of thing Kevin is into. Drew is back from his hiatus from the show and it's time once again to talk movies! Kevin's pick is the classic Disney movie The Aristocats from 1970. It's one that we both grew up loving and was a joy to revisit. Drew's choice is one that we both were unfamiliar with from 1985, the sci-fi/comedy film, Brazil starring Jonathan Pryce, Robert DeNiro and more. It's a brand-new movie talk episode and this one is a doosy. Kevin's pick this week is Into the Wild from director Sean Penn. It's a pretty uplifting and inspiring film starring Emile Hirsch, Kristen Stewart, Catherine Keener and more. Drew's choice on the other hand, is the more dark, unsettling and ominous film, The Killing of a Sacred Deer. From director Yorgos Lanthimos, this movie stars Colin Ferrell, Barry Keoghan and Nicole Kidman. So, they're pretty opposite films in a cool and interesting way. Also, Drew will be taking a hiatus from the show but he assures us that he will be back before too long. But we pick our next movies at the end of this episode anyway for when he returns. On this week's movie episode, Drew brings Steven Spielberg's 1993 film, Schindler's List. It's such a heavy and emotional movie that I feel like everyone should watch at least once. We saved the next movie for last so we can lighten the mood after talking about the holocaust. Kevin's choice is O Brother, Where Art Thou? It's yet another Coen brother's film featured on this show and it won't be the last. This movie is just a joy to watch, it's hilarious, fast-paced and beautifully shot. We had a lot to say about these two movies we picked for this week, which is why this episode is almost two hours long. we really dive in on these movies, plus we go off on a few tangents along the way. Drew's pick for this episode is the 2006 romance/comedy Wristcutters: A Love Story about the place people go after committing suicide. Kevin's choice is the classic, iconic, influential film, The Wizard of Oz starring Judy Garland, Jack Haley and RAY BOLGER! This was a fun episode to record, and we hope you enjoy is as well. Today's episode is a part two from the same night as the "Spunk Beds" recording, but it's definitely not as wild and kooky as that one was. But regardless of that, it's still a pretty fun one. Some of the things we talk about are Infrabren on TikTok, Jodie Foster Movies, The Last of Us, The Hunt movie, conspiracies, war movies and celebrity crushes, among other things. Big thanks to everyone who tunes in to our dumb show, we appreciate it! Note: If you watch on YouTube, this episode only has about 10 minutes of video due to a full SD card. So we apologize for that, but what can you do, these things happen. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/distortedminds/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/distortedminds/support
On today's edition of K&DTM, we've got a couple of killer movies to dive into. Kevin's pick is Stanley Kubrick's 1987 war/drama film, Full Metal Jacket. It's a movie that has some very captivating characters, some shocking scenes and some really funny dialogue at times. Drew's choice is the highly rated new film, Everything Everywhere All at Once. This 2022 sci-fi/adventure film, directed by Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, is a whole lot of fun and the title says it all. It's funny, deep, action packed and it's just a brilliant piece of art. We've got a wild episode for you this week. Nate and CJ return as guests and we're really yuckin' it up and having a good ol' time. It's a late night, we've all had a few drinks and we're saying outrageous things. It's all in good fun though. This episode is definitely NSFW, so you've been warned. But we hope you enjoy it cuz we certainly enjoyed recording it. It's time to talk movies yet again! Kevin's pick is Noah Baumbach's 2017 dramady film, The Meyerowitz Stories. It stars Adam Sandler, Dustin Hoffman and Ben Stiller and is a movie about family and how frustrating they can be. Drew chose Seven Psychopaths, a comedy/crime film from director Martin McDonagh about a guy writing a movie about seven psychopaths. With a great cast including Colin Farrell, Sam Rockwell and Christopher Walken, it's a really fun watch. As usual, we mention some other flicks at the beginning and pick two more at the end. It's comedy week here on our movie talk episode and we have a couple of pretty damn good ones to get into. Kevin went with the 2001 comedy/adventure movie starring David Spade, Joe Dirt. It wasn't very good according to critics but seems to have a good cult following from general audience members. Drew chose Forgetting Sarah Marshall, which is fun comedy from 2008 starring Jason Segel, Kristen Bell, Mila Kunis and more. We talk about a few other flicks at the top of the show and chose our next movies at the end.
