I'm also the founder of Founders Space, a global startup incubator and accelerator. I've been an entrepreneur for over 25 years, and I've learned a lot about what it takes to grow a business. One of the most important things I've learned is that successful startups don't just sell a product once to customers. Instead, they use a recurring revenue model to keep customers locked into their business. This allows them to grow without being limited by the number of people they can hire. I've also learned that it's often more effective to start small and solve specific problems that you notice in your customers' process. This was the case for YouTube, which started as a video datingIn this episode, you will learn the following:1. How do successful startups achieve rapid revenue growth?2. This week on our movie talk episode we're talking about Bad Boys and Reservoir Dogs. Bad Boys, starring Will Smith and Martin Lawrence, is a 1995 action/comedy flick directed by Michael Bay. The second movie we get into is Quinton Tarantino's first film, Reservoir Dogs starring Harvey Keitel, Steve Buscemi, Tim Roth and more. We had fun going over these movies for this episode and we also talk briefly about some other films we've seen in the last two weeks. Plus, at the end we choose another movie each to talk about on the next one. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/distortedminds/support
Our heroes are reunited and make their way to the caves of the Drow...with a minor road block or two. Our apologies for the bizarre sound quality on episodes 30 & 31, various technical issues were at play in the studio recording that came into play. We are back with another installment of Kevin and Mike talk movies and this time we are diving into the movies True Lies and Bo Burnham: Inside. True Lies is a 1994 action/comedy starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jamie Lee Curtis and it was definitely a lot of fun to watch. From explosions and stunts to quality comedy and great one liners, it was a good time. Bo Burnham: Inside is a comedy special that was written, directed, filmed, edited by and starring Bo Burnham. It's about how staying inside during the pandemic takes a toll on one's mental health, among other things. Thanks for tuning in and enjoy the show. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/distortedminds/support

There have been plenty of big changes & shifts in the home inspection industry this past year. From the pandemic to big acquisitions to new ways of thinking about our business. As the case with any industry (and life), we must adapt. We must stay ahead of the curve as a business and help support you as our Spectora family in staying ahead of trends that impact you and your livelihood. Kevin & Mike discuss recent acquisitions, how it could impact Spectora and all home inspectors, and kick around ideas on how inspectors can ethically and selectively be in control of their user's experience and increase ARPI (average revenue per inspection) by partnering with services & products that consumers want. Could there be a race to the bottom in prices? Could large companies try to make home inspections a complete commodity? How are you planning to adapt as big money comes into our space?
This week Ando returns to talk broken chairs, celebrity deaths, where are they now, and all the Spider Men. Also: Ando previews Shadows of a Dark Past Season 2 & reveals everything about the first half of Season 1 (SPOILERS!), and Kevin & Mike have a Q&A!
Kevin & Mike discuss the concept of generating Pokémon - this has been around for possibly longer than you think it has, and barring any kind of precisely-worded ban, it won't be going anywhere anytime soon. We hope this can educate, or at least provoke some interesting thought on the topic. Pokésports will now also be recording live on YouTube instead of Twitch. Make sure you check that out next Sunday at 9pm EST!
You’ve probably seen Sarah Frier, since she’s been an award-winning tech reporter with Bloomberg News for 9 years. But have you read her thrilling new book “No Filter” ? It’s the inside story of how Instagram became the most culturally defining app of the decade. And how this 13-person company sold to Facebook for a Billion dollars. Sarah had unprecedented access… from the founders of Instagram, as well as employees, executives, and competitors; Anna Wintour of Vogue; Kris Jenner of the Kardashian-Jenner empire; and a ton of Instagram influencers worldwide. In 2010, Kevin Systrom & Mike Krieger released a photo-sharing app called Instagram, with 1 simple but irresistible feature: it would make anything you captured look more beautiful. After the acquisition by Facebook, Kevin & Mike stayed on, trying to maintain Instagram’s beauty, brand, and cachet. They considered their app a separate company within the social networking giant. They urged their employees to make changes only when necessary, resisting Facebook’s grow-at-all-costs philosophy in favor of a strategy that highlighted creativity & celebrity. But… Just as Instagram was about to reach a billion users, Facebook’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg —once supportive of the founders’ autonomy— began to feel threatened by Instagram’s success. And that’s where the story really gets interesting. It’s ALL about the culture of your company. Sarah shares the story behind Instagram’s & Facebook’s cultures.
