Sinema Kulübü'müzün 22'inci buluşmasında Kenneth Lonergan'ın yönettiği, başrollerinde Casey Affleck, Michelle Williams ve Lucas Hedges'in yer aldığı, 2016 yılı yapımı, orijinal adı “Manchester by the Sea” olan, bizde “Yaşamın Kıyısında” adıyla gösterime giren filmi konuştuk. Bu bölümde yer verebildiğim arkadaşlarım(02:25) Yelda Erdoğan, (04:00) Uğur İyidoğan, (05:00) Mete Yurtsever, (06:03) Yelda Erdoğan, (08:05) Didem Güçlü İlgün, (11:50) Olcay Büyükçapar, (13:21) Mete-Yelda-Didem, (15:59) Ebru Vural, (17:52) Didem Güçlü İlgün, (19:40) Mete-Yelda ve (20:32) Olcay BüyükçaparSupport the show

Actor and podcaster Craig Jorczak (The Oscar Should Have Gone To) joins to discuss the newly released action thriller, MONKEY MAN starring Dev Patel, Sharlto Copley, Pitobash, Vipin Sharma and Sikandar Kher. The film marks Patel's directorial debut in which he plays Kid, a young man set on taking revenge against the corrupt police chief who murdered his mother. Plagued by injuries sustained during fight training, a harsh mid-pandemic production, and a late withdrawal of Netflix distribution, Patel's first foray behind the camera required a resiliency worthy of his action hero protagonist, but is the film worthy of the blood, sweat and tears that went into it? Join us as we tackle MONKEY MAN with some diversions into Ripley, Letterboxd, John Woo, the Skarsgård siblings, Monster's Ball, Foe, Kenneth Lonergan, movie stars on Broadway, and much, much more! MONKEY MAN is currently playing in theaters.
Will he or wont he???? Have a panic attack as we're recording that is ;) It's a fun, slutty lil episode. You'll see. Small business ownership is hard and some people are mean. What do we do about it? Adult Film was featured in the @gothamist… but not everyone's happy about it. Alotta psychology talk. About our responses to people talking shit, and where those responses were formed. Ryan just shot a movie in ATL. We get into this experience. We talk in depth about Kenneth Lonergan's ‘You Can Count on Me', the performances, and themes. And of course a great Jungian debate ensues. David learns big lesson from Austin Butler in Dune, and thought on the play “The Effect” that was just up at @TheShedNY. Ryan goes on our favorite (acting) podcast @backtoonepodcast, And David makes a resolution to give up pettiness.. Enjoy.

Drew chose the 2016 drama film Manchester by the Sea from director Kenneth Lonergan. This movie follows a man who, after his brother dies, ends up becoming the sole guardian of his teenage nephew. This week on Remainders, we discuss the 2016 film Manchester By the Sea. A story of grief, depression, trauma and confronting the past, Kenneth Lonergan directs a movie that manages to deal with these difficult themes while also showing the imperfections in life and the awkward, sometimes funny moments in between. A case of realism with a touch of levity, Casey Affleck plays Lee, a man who upon losing his brother must step into the parental role for his nephew, played by Lucas Hedges. Both give incredible performances and let's the audience feel for their characters as they are exposed and vulnerable in times of death.Other topics include best performances by Casey Affleck and Michelle Williams, Darren's upcoming Punk Rock & Paintbrushes at When We Were Young festival, recent and upcoming live shows, the month of Friday the 13th marathons, and Elvis in the movies.Songs of the WeekSee See Rider by LaVern BakerShake Some Action by the Flamin' GrooviesAll songs on the Remainders Jukebox PlaylistWebsiteFacebookInstagramYouTubeTwitter
Most movies it is nice to have a box of popcorn but in this case, you'll need a box of tissues. A heart wrenching and dramatic story that has you the whole way through. Award winning acting from Casey Affleck and award winning writing/ directing from Kenneth Lonergan. Released on November 18, 2016 this film is a slow and cold journey. It is worth watching if you enjoy great acting and writing and you enjoy a true drama.
Kait and Julia sit down this week to discuss Lobby Hero by Kenneth Lonergan. They discuss the difficulties of the workplace, the difficulties of moral ambiguity, and of course, Elton John!Enjoy!

Kenneth Lonergan wrote and directed "Manchester by the Sea" A great film that earned Best Original Screenplay and Best Male Lead Actor and the film deserves. It's a film that heavily deals with guilt and grief due to a tragic loss of family. As heavy the emotions are in the this film, Lonergan was able to write some comedy in the film, almost making into a black comedy. We need some type of release from our troubles even though they wont fix anything. Life always goes on but it's important how you go about it. I love how the film tackles with life and it goes into different avenues about it. I enjoyed watching this film so much due to the actors that carry the dialog, especially Patrick Chandler, the character almost steals the film. The casting is great. You wold think Casey Affleck and Lucas Hedges would be an odd combo to carry each other but they proved to win us over even though I never had a problem about that to begin with. My favorite shot of the film is a scene toward the first act where you see the boat with the characters on it and obviously the camera is on a mobile surface shooting the boat in a full shot. As boring as it can be, it shows what this film is going to be about. It's going to be about family and how we can support each in tough times. Don't give up on your people.Four out of four tokes.
In Act 2 of Jonny's chat with Oscar-winner Kenneth Lonergan, they discuss the high-school production of A Midsummer Night's Dream where Kenny met his best friend and frequent collaborator, Matthew Broderick; Kenny's misgivings about his acting range; the play of his he had the most fun with; the difficulty of getting started as an unconventional writer and why, despite a time of increasingly strident political certainty, he thinks plays that are interested in human nuance will survive. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
An American master this week everyone. And a little bit of a hero of Jonny's. Kenneth Lonergan is the writer and directors of three movies, all of them masterpieces, and the playwright of groundbreaking plays like Lobby Hero and This Is Our Youth. Hear about birthing his plays, writing as the muscle memory of the brain, why he is fascinated by the state of adolescence, which of his plays started as a dream, how he jumped from prose to playwrighting and why movies don't quite touch the experience of a play. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
The boys put on their cowboy hats and get on the bus to talk about one of Ben's all time favorite movies: Kenneth Lonergan's 2011 coming-of-age tale of trauma, Margaret. We get into PTSD, realizing your life isn't a movie, and #ReleaseTheMartyCut; along with The Girlfriend Experience, Rocky and Bullwinkle, Zizek-pilled Jean Reno, and generally just get unbelievably real on this.
Two versions of a movie - One is considered a masterpiece and the other is garbage. We went with the latter version and tear it to shreds as we discuss the Kenneth Lonergan directed Margaret. We chronicle the long path this took to get to theaters, how insufferable the teenage aspects of the characters and school were, and why a studio would pick a clearly worse version of a film to release. Plus, a movie with Brandon as the title, showing both butt cheeks equal love, and a groaner of a Matthew Broderick joke.
For our 30th episode David & Devon discuss a film that is very meaningful to them which is Kenneth Lonergan's 2000 film debut YOU CAN COUNT ON ME with two incredible central perfromances by Laura Linney and Mark Ruffalo as well as a great performance from an 11 year old Rory Culkin!
Welcome to Episode 3 of BULLSHITTERY Podcast! Look at you, supporting this chaotic artist by listening to her chaotic podcast!? Legend!? Hellooooo! Join me as I chat with my friend Adam Rose; actor, dancer, content creator, comedy icon, blue-cardigan king, dad & hubby! Adam is the best & I'm so happy you're here to learn more about his illustrious life as a performer. Here's his IMDb bio: Rose made his debut opposite Robin Williams and Julie Kavner in Woody Allen's Deconstructing Harry. Born to a would-be Rabbinical cantor and an opera singer, Rose embraced music at an early age and excelled at Tap, Jazz, Ballet, and the martial arts training he underwent. It was during this same time that Rose was cast to be the voice of Peanut for three years, as the title-character on PB & J Otter, a cartoon on the Disney Channel. Soon after Rose would perform under the direction of Michael Mayer (Spring Awakening, Thoroughly Modern Millie) alongside Kristen Johnston and John Pankow in Peter Hedges' Baby Anger. The successful portrayal of a young boy with cancer led to subsequent guest spots on TV's Ed and Third Watch.Having developed a passion for live theater, Rose landed a role on stage with Theodore Bikel in The Gathering and went on to tour with three consecutive productions - including the pre-Broadway tour with Hal Linden. Throughout his time on stage and in recording booths, Rose continued to grow his love for dance, and at age 15 went on to become the youngest to ever teach dance at the renowned Broadway Dance Center in New York. While continuing to study the dramatic arts at New York's famed LaGuardia High School of the Performing Arts, he appeared on the hit series The Sopranos and the Comedy Central movie The Hebrew Hammer, starring Adam Goldberg. It was soon after that Rose had the honor of working with Noah Baumbach, Jeff Daniels, Laura Linney, and Anna Paquin in the Oscar-nominated The Squid and the Whale, as Otto - the best friend of Walt, played by Jesse Eisenberg. After four years of Shakespeare, character study, dialects, clowning (-study, not literally), vocal and dance training and all other school subjects, Rose was done with High School and ready to head west. The exodus was aided by his role on the production of Dead End, directed by Nicholas Martin at the Ahmanson Theater in Los Angeles' famous Music Center. Rose starred as Angel, one of the Dead End Kids, alongside Jeremy SIsto, Tom Everett Scott, Joyce Van Patten, and Kathryn Hahn. He later appeared in HBO's Voyeur Internet project, directed by Jake Scott, and soon after earned a role in Kenneth Lonergan's Margaret. Rose once again found himself on-set with Anna Paquin, along with Matthew Borderick, Matt Damon, Mark Ruffalo, and Kieran Culkin, just to name a few. While still acclimating to life in LA, Rose continued to make appearances on many hit TV shows. Follow Adam everywhere at @realadamrose. Kenneth Lonergan doesn't think there's a real difference between comedy and drama, at least not in the way he writes and directs. The playwright-screenwriter-director talks with Marc about the lie of sentimentality, how ideas collapse when he's writing and new ideas emerge, and why he hopes to get to 95% satisfaction with his work (he's gotten to about 90% so far). That work includes Manchester By The Sea, Margaret, You Can Count On Me, and plays like The Waverly Gallery, which is now on Broadway.
