The positional strength requirement of the snatch balance translate to an elderly person who's slip in fall is just an embarrassing moment rather than it being a trip to the E.R. Every human has 2 feet and most of those feet aren’t working like nature intended. Your feet form the foundation for your body – without a strong foundation we compensate and eventually run into problems. Most people Nick sees with dysfunctional (not working properly) feet don’t have foot pain. They have problems upstream – low back pain, hip imbalances, knee pain – and most of those problems are a result of a problem with their foundation. Spread the word to anyone you know and help create awareness of the importance of foot health. Telling friends and family about The Foot Collective means giving them the power to change their health and access quality information about their body for free. You know that terrible feeling during a workout where your heart rate is out of control, you breathing is shallow and rapid and you feel like you are going to hyperventilate? What if there was a secret "hack" to getting around that? On Episode 206 of the Doc and Jock Podcast we are joined by the legendary Rob Wilson (for the 5th time) to talk about The Art Of Breathing during a CrossFit/high intensity workout. Just like most other things we do in the gym setting their is an optimal way to breath during exercise and those who master it have a distinct advantage over their competitions. Rob Wilson comes from a formal education in manual therapy with 15+ years of experience as both a practitioner and teacher. He resides in Virginia Beach, VA with his wife Thomi where they own and operate CrossFit Virginia Beach. In addition to working with the Power Speed Endurance team Rob is also a member of the world renowned MobilityWod staff under the direction of Dr. Kelly Starrett. Rob’s main sport background is youth martial arts including Jeet Kune Do (the philosophies of Bruce Lee), Judo, Muay Thai, and Maphiliindo Silat and Kali. Like many coastal kids Rob grew up surfing and skating as well and developed an affinity for the ocean and Nature at an early age. Rob Wilson is a passionate teacher to the core. Throughout the course of his career as a therapist one thing became abundantly clear; it’s better to teach a person to fish. Without education athletes are left to unknowingly repeat patterns of behavior that may not be pursuant to the actual desired outcome. That is to say the best remedy is often understanding. Rob’s journey is about developing a deeper understanding of human performance to better serve those who wish to actualize their potential.
