What would our lives be like without Jesus Christ? Have you ever pondered this question? Russell Nelson taught, The more you learn about the Savior, the easier it will be to trust in His mercy, His infinite love, and His strengthening, healing, and redeeming power. Your growing faith in Him will move mountains—not the mountains of rock that beautify the earth but the mountains of misery in your lives. Your flourishing faith will help you turn challenges into unparalleled growth and opportunity.”Our guest, Jacob Cochran, will help us understand our need for a Savior so that it will be easier to trust Him and grow the faith we desperately need to move the mountains of difficulty in our lives. Is it really possible to give thanks in all our circumstances? What about the times when everything seems to be going wrong in our lives? Dieter Uchtdorf explained that, “Being grateful in times of distress does not mean we are pleased with our circumstances. It does mean that through the eyes of faith we look beyond our present-day challenges.”“True gratitude is an expression of hope and testimony. It comes from acknowledging that we do not always understand the trials of life but trusting that one day we will.”Our guest today, Lori Marett, will share her experience of losing her husband to a terminal illness and how gratitude helped her feel God's love and peace in the midst of her afflictions. The storms of life are no respecter of marriages. What will we choose when they come? Satan would have each of us turn inward and pull away from our spouse during times of trial. The Savior's approach is the opposite, He says “come unto me all ye that are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” If we come unto Christ and allow Him to, He takes our marriages by the hand and guides us through the downpour. When burdens are beyond are ability to shoulder, He carries us. Today's guests, Kim and John Sorich, will both share their journey through Kim's breast cancer and how they created a deeper and more meaningful marriage because of it. Each of us will experience the unfairness of life, and receive injuries, whether real or perceived, at the hands of others. Will these injuries cause us to become spiritually blinded with anger, and revenge or with draw from the fold of God ? Or will we choose to accept, forgive, and allow the Savior's Atonement to absorb all the unfairness in our lives? James Talmage taught, “Every human soul shall be tested as by fire.” Our guest today Jana Tuttle was literally and spiritually tested by fire. She was hit in the eye with a firework 6 years ago. She is here to tell us about her journey and how her accident helped her find her way to Christ-- who absorbed all the unfairness in her life and left in its place an all encompassing peace and joy. When we do not accept what is, life is an illusion—an illusion that, like a pit of darkness, keeps us from seeing clearly, makes us claustrophobic and suffocates us in vexing negative emotions. When we live in truth, we accept what is. When we live in illusion, we attempt to deal with what isn’t. In other words, we deny truth—things as they really are—and get mired in how we think things should or should not be. Ours becomes a world of wishful thinking.Today’s guest, Sherrie Mills Johnson, teaches this in her book “Count it all Joy.”She says, “while you are busy throwing punches at illusion, real life goes on all around you—unexperienced and unenjoyed—and problems go unresolved.”In this podcast, Sherrie will walk us through the pit of illusion to the other side, where we will come to understand the difference between necessary pain and unnecessary pain and discover that joy is ours for the choosing.Stay with us. At the end of your life what will you regret? Will it be not having the big house, or the nice car you always dreamed of? David McKay taught that, “No success can compensate for failure in the home”Most of our regrets and guilt will not come from our lack of achievements, success, or possessions, they will come form our inadequate efforts within our family relationships. Our Families have the potential to bring greater joy into our lives than anything else. What can we do to stop the breakdown of family relationships and facilitate greater joy and peace? Our guest, New York Times bestselling author and world renowned speaker, Linda Eyre, will help us answer that question. She teaches, “The bottom line is we must turn our hearts to our children and our families …Strong families are still attainable, but only by parents who passionately pledge themselves to doing what it takes to build and bolster, to protect and prioritize their families—only by parents who consciously set out to make their family culture stronger than peer culture, the internet, the media culture, and all other cultures that swirl around their children.” Helpful resources and to buy the book The Turning @Valuesparenting.com Website @findingjoyandpeace.comFacebook @facebook.com/findingjoyandpeacepodcastYoutube @Youtube.com/channel/UC4hjVDRsAlP5RtW1TIfeLPwSupport the show (https://findingjoyandpeace.com/)

Our guest, Marcia Price, can empathize with those who may experience intense emotions over lost or unfulfilled dreams. From an early age, she envisioned life as a happily married woman with a large family. She was blessed to have only one biological child which was one of the greatest blessings of her life. She wanted to have many more children, but that didn’t happen for her. And then through a failed marriage, her fairy tale story seemed to dissolve before her eyes. She was heartbroken. But God hears every prayer and knows the righteous desires of our hearts. Some blessings come soon, some come later in life and others don’t come until mortality is over. Our guest today will share her miraculous story—a story of a righteous desire being fulfilled at an unexpected time and in an unexpected way. Most countries have a national language, culture and ethnicity. This is not so for Americans. We represent a melting pot drawn from all nations, ethnicities, languages, and religions. So what does it mean to be an American? Today our guest, Gove Allen will address this question, by walking us through the seven founding values which make us Americans. Today there will be much talk of women in high places, power suits, high-heels, and history in the making. It’s monumental. It’s never been done before. The message of empowering women is good. But I believe women have always ruled the world. Creators and shapers of humanity long before politics. While I respect those climbing the rungs on the ladder of history, I hope my daughters remember that today nothing about womanhood has fundamentally changed. They have always had power to change the world. If you are a mother you will want to listen to this podcast and share it with every mother you know!Did you always want to be a Mom? When you held your new baby for the first time, you felt immense joy and hopeful anticipation of what this new adventure would bring. Then, the realities of motherhood began to settle upon you: fatigue, endless responsibilities, and feeling, you no longer had control over your own life. During such times, it is not unusual to wonder where all the joy went. Christianity teaches that motherhood is the highest and holiest of callings. And yet we are human and only beginners in learning how to be mothers. The gap between that which truly is wonderful and fulfilling and those things which push us to our mortal limits—physically, emotionally, mentally, and even spiritually can be wide. How do we close the distance and find joy in the midst of the challenges that come with motherhood? You will love our guest, Jessica Clayton, as she tells her story of navigating the roller-coaster ride that motherhood can be, including feelings of inadequacy and failure. Directly east from my home, there is a beautiful mountain that rises majestically over our little community with a charming reservoir below. Not long ago this mountain stood proud with its lovely greenery reaching for the sky, with no concerns other than changing her colors in response to the gentle whisperings of Autumn in the air. Now, she stands black and smoldering. The night of the fire, severe winds caused the fire to spread quickly covering 1,000 acres within an hour and grounded most of the aerial firefighting efforts. Things looked bad. However, to the credit of the people in my small community, many prayed with all their hearts for God’s deliverance. Their prayers were heard and answered almost immediately. What would life be like if you were not allowed to read the Bible and worship God as you please? What if you were persecuted for your beliefs and told you had to believe a certain way? What if you could not own your own land, choose your career, nor own the fruits of your labor? What would you do? With faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, the pilgrims came to America seeking resolution to these difficulties. We face many of these same concerns in our nation today. We sometimes take for granted the freedoms we have to worship God, follow our conscience, choose our career and then to work in a free market. This year is the four hundredth anniversary of the pilgrims arrival in America. As we approach this Thanksgiving holiday may we remember them—the sacrifices they made to follow their conscience and love God. In this podcast, we will learn of miracles as the Pilgrims were led by the hand of God in helping to lay the foundation of this great nation. Everyone has a mission. Everyone has something special they are to accomplish here on earth. Everyone was born with a gift, talent, or something God wants them to share in order to help others. Each of us will encounter opposition as we strive to fulfill what God has asked of us. God does speak to his children through the Holy Spirit. Have you ever felt it was your responsibility to fix or make everything all better for those you love? Have you felt frustrated when your efforts to do so are rejected or met with resentment?Today, we are going to learn about a skill that is like magic in relationships: validation. Many times, the negative behavior of others arises because we fail to understand and adequately validate their underlying feelings, needs, and desires. We jump quickly into the advice-giving mode, the correction mode, or we take on the role of fixer and problem-solver. Those knee-jerk reactions can prevent emotional connections that are critical to healthy, family relationships. Our guest, Gary Lundberg, will illustrate how validation, a simple yet profound communication tool can strengthen any relationship and foster greater emotional connection.Gary with his wife Joy, are authors of five popular books on relationships: • I Don’t Have to Make Everything All Better: Empowering others to solve their own problems while enriching your relationships • Married For Better Not Worse• Meeting Amazing Grace: Wisdom for All Families and In-laws, (a novel based on true stories) • Love That Lasts: 14 Secrets to a More Joyful, Passionate, and Fulfilling Marriage. • Because We Love Our Marriage: 12 Ways to Safeguard Your Eternal Relationship.Their website is www.allbetter.net Subscribe at https://findingjoyandpeace.com/ to receive notices when new podcasts become available or follow us at https://www.facebook.com/findingjoyandpeacepodcastSupport the show (https://findingjoyandpeace.com/)
Racism has raised up its ugly head in surprising and violent ways in recent months. How have you felt about all of this? Have these current circumstances aroused tender and painful memories for you? Not long ago, during world war 2, the people of Japanese ancestry were the victims of racism in the United Sates. Though they were Americans and lived in the land of the free, they were suddenly deemed to be the enemy, were rapidly rounded up and detained for 3 years behind barbed wire in remote relocation camps. This was true for our guest, Roger Koide’s, family. When I asked Roger who his hero was, he said, His family. He considered his mother, father and grandparents to all be heroes. This podcast is for everyone. Guest Rhyll Croshaw has had vast experience establishing and maintaining boundaries and helping women all over the world do the same. She applies the process of setting boundaries and surrendering to God to all family relationships and aspects of life. Setting boundaries with a spouse, child, or relative enables us to have real power over the chaos that can sometimes occur in marriage and family relationships and creates safety for those involved. When we don’t have boundaries, we risk being controlled and manipulated. Boundaries foster respectful and emotionally healthy relationships which can generate more joy and peace in our homes, and empower us to love ourselves and others more.If you have struggled with setting boundaries in your marriage or have struggled with the effects of pornography in your home.
