It's a wrap to the NBA season with the OKC Thunder winning their first NBA title and now the attention immediately turns to the NBA Draft and the name Cooper Flagg. And, we're ready to talk about it all on the newest "Last Word on Sports Media Podcast."Host T.J. Rives returns and welcomes guest "The Famous Jay" Betsill of DFWSportsOnline.com to go over it all. What about the game 7 "bump" in TV audience for Disney/ABC? But, also, bigger how abominable has ESPN/ABC's pregame and halftime show become? The guys discuss. Then, they turn to the Dallas Mavericks, who will take the phenom Flagg on Wendesday night at the draft on ESPN from Brooklyn, NY. How's the Dallas market handling all of this and the anticipation of Flagg being the new "star of the NBA" potentially 2-3 years down the road? Jay has the insight. We also talk some golf with the wrap up to the U.S. Open title won by J.J. Spaun dramatically and followed by Keegan Bradley winning in thrilling fashion Sunday in Hartford on the final hole. Now, will Bradley pick himself to be a "playing captain" on the USA Ryder Cup team against the Europeans this Fall? The boys also discuss the end of the NHL Stanley Cup playoffs with the Florida Panthers winning it all and going back to back for titles. They also talk the coverage and can anything help boost the audience to a competitive level with the NBA or MLB or is there no hope? There's even some brief pop culture discussion of the new Brad Pitt sports movie "F1" as he plays a fictitious Formula One driver and the film is getting lots of hype. It's all part of the "LWOS Media Podcast" and make sure to follow/subscribe on Apple/Spreaker/Spotify, etc. for all of our coverage.

From the vault of the Taking the Lead Media Podcast. Original release date: 05/06/2011. "May 06, 2011 - Episode 18 is streaming here. Download the episode here. This episode has a fantastic line up on it. Opening the show is a band from Southern California called Blighted. Really great sounding band, they have an LP available here and also on bandcamp. They also have a show coming up on May 31 in Sanger, California. Check out their facebook or the Shows section for details. Also on the episode is Kill the Masses from Las Vegas, Nevada, who are now going by the name Aechoes. They too have a show coming up, on May 28. Check out the Shows section for more details. The band is currently working on new material. On a lot of the episodes, I tend to close with a clip from the song, Bones, by No History of Violence. This is a band that I used to play with in La Grande, Oregon. Some really great times with these guys. We played tons of shows in La Grande with some pretty cool bands, both local and out of town. Some of those bands include Sub*Vert, Sprockets, Sally Mae, Mike Got Spiked, Morello and The Sharktopus. I'm also very happy to be able to share a track from these guys, Vultures United. Really fantastic stuff, upbeat, and worth checking out. They come from Orange County, California. Hope to catch one of their shows sometime soon. And lastly, from Arizona, The Beautiful Ones. Great stuff from an up and coming band. They have a new demo out on cassette right now and digitally. Get their new demo for free on their bandcamp. Please enjoy the music on this episode. Support your local scene because without you, there is no scene. Once again, thank you for listening." View the original post HERE. Playlist also available HERE. It's the latest edition of our show/podcast as host T.J. Rives and co-host Mike Gill are back to go over the sports media topics that kickoff the month of June on the "Last Word on Sports Media Podcast"The guys coverNBA Finals set with OKC/IND. Is this series going to be one of the least watched ever? Were the ratings due to plummet without a "big market" involved? The guys also talk the sendoff of the "NBA on TNT" with the end of the Indiana/NY Knicks series and now, the bizarre situation with their "Inside the NBA" pre-game and post-game show going to Disney/ABC/ESPN next year.Next up is the Stanley Cup rematch with Florida/Edmonton. Will that hurt the casual interest that it's not prominent franchises and we saw it last year? The guys discuss. A possible great storyline for them is: can a Canadian team breakthrough for their first Cup since 1993?! Incredible drought for that Country, when it's "their sport."The guys also talk the reports of the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament expansion heating up and why the proposals could be "dead on arrival" because CBS/Turner don't want more "play-in" type games. Also, NCAA College Baseball Tourney is going and the results were bad for the SEC specifically and now the non-power conferences may have a tougher time with the bigger conferences not wanting them in their post-seasons.The guys talk abou ti all on the "Last Word on Sports Media Podcast" and make sure to follow/subscrbie to this feed for all our content on Apple/Spreaker/Spotify, etc.!
