Are you afraid to speak your mind despite knowing the truth? Cancel culture has been so popular, people are weaponized for voicing their opinion. People are basically punished for having a different perspective. But what happens when cancel culture takes over the medical field? In a world where providers are now afraid of clinical discussions because of the fear of being fired or hated by colleagues, how are they going to fight for their patients? Welcome to episode 31 of Rebel By Design! In this episode, I'm speaking with licensed clinical social worker Pamela Garfield-Jaeger. We are discussing how cancel culture has affected many people not just online but even in the real world. We are opening up a conversation about the fear and stigma that comes along with speaking out about pseudo “taboo topics” like gender identity and COVID policies. Also, Pamela encourages us to be bold and speak up- even when it's difficult to. In this conversation, we urge you to be bold and speak up for the truth. Enjoy the show!! Catie Love the show? The American Academy of Pediatrics' newly released guidelines surrounding childhood obesity has sparked a huge debate amongst mental health professionals in the online space. While the treatment of childhood obesity and the medicalization of children with gender dysphoria or gender identity issues may seem like two distinct issues, there are some obvious parallels between them. And, it begs the question- What are the long-term physical and mental health implications of such heavy-handed medical treatments on our children? Welcome to episode 30 of Rebel By Design! In this episode, I'm speaking with licensed clinical social worker, coach, consultant, and return guest: Teva Johnstone. We are discussing how it is essential to consider the ideological worldviews behind this debate, and to remember that the goal is to accept our bodies and ourselves. Again, cancel culture is undoubtedly playing a huge part in this debate. In this conversation we urge you to focus on the soul, not just the physical- so we can create a positive environment for ALL children to feel safe, loved, and accepted. Enjoy the show!! Do you find that the people who want to abolish binary thinking are the ones holding on to their own limited beliefs in order to avoid even considering differing perspectives? Do you feel like we live in a world that is constantly trying to blur the lines of gender identity and race, and we aren't allowed to say how we feel or be honest without being hurtful to somebody else? The world is full of people who feel like they can't speak their mind because they're afraid of hurting someone else's feelings. What happens when staying silent is more difficult than speaking out about difficult but important topics? Is what's going on in the online space a social justice movement or online bullying in disguise? Is our support of other human beings really being reduced to one or two perspectives they express and 140 characters? These days if you voice your opinion online and it's different from the status quo, you're basically told not to exist, or that you're taking up too much space. Self-censorship isn't any way to live life. Welcome to episode 24 of the Rebel By Design podcast! In this episode, I'm chatting with podcaster, writer, and Instagram and Tiktok content creator: Kenzie Brenna. Kenzie and I talk about why cancel culture is toxic, online diet space, clapping back and deciding that different opinions deserve to be heard- even if it feels uncomfortable. There is a lot that can be uncovered if we allow ourselves to sit in discomfort. We don't have all the answers or solutions, and our discussion points out that telling someone else to be silent isn't helpful in amplifying other voices. There's a way for all voices to be heard and have a seat at the table. But it's not by removing seats- it's by making the table longer. Enjoy the show!! Catie Love the show? Connect with me! Is “privilege” being weaponized on social media right now? And, what is privilege, really- and why is it being so narrowly defined? Business owners on major social media platforms are subjected to intense criticism and internet censorship by followers that are emotionally triggered by their posts, words, or opinions. But is all this warranted, or have people absolutely lost the capacity to sit with any kind of discomfort? Welcome to episode 23 of the Rebel By Design Podcast! In this episode, I'm interviewing occupational therapist turned holistic sleep specialist, Taylor Kulik. Taylor and I discuss what it's like to talk about (what are now considered) “polarizing topics” in the online space. Also, how we navigate speaking our truth in the midst of accountability culture and accusations of white privilege. Today's episode opens up the discussion on what access to resources really means, and how the weight of other people's opinions isn't yours to carry. Is it possible to enjoy your culture, be a part of social movements - and still have your own thoughts and ideas about important topics? Are the labels we place on ourselves and each other able to be transcended without going into panic mode? Are you allowing your true authentic self to be muted by the insults being thrown around online or in our everyday lives? You can't control how people perceive you, and bending to the will of others doesn't serve you or the collective. Welcome to episode 19 of the Rebel By Design podcast! What happens when people engage in a cancellation campaign? Are they privy to what was said behind closed doors, or to ALL of the information required to form an educated opinion about it? Or, do they go off of really small bits and pieces of stories that were told on Instagram? It's incredibly important to consider what we know and understand about a situation before canceling someone online. The effects of cancel culture are long-lasting and can be extremely traumatic. Welcome to episode 18 of Rebel by Design! In this episode, I'm talking about my own brush with being canceled, and how this phenomenon is really just thinly veiled virtue signaling. Also, I'm sharing my opinions regarding the direction we are going in as a society in the name of social justice and wokeism. In the United States. We are innocent until proven guilty, except in cancel culture. In cancel culture, you are 100% guilty until proven innocent. What does it mean to “silence” someone? Does deleting a comment on your own post on Instagram qualify? In the last few years, the online space has become riddled with rules and social constructs that encourage victim mentality. Are you worried about what people will think about you if you don't take part in a public takedown of someone online? Do you overthink what you post in your online business, being careful not to offend anyone, and follow guidelines that you feel you can never meet? Is getting caught up in online politics really serving your community? Online entrepreneurs are navigating between what it means to come from a place of integrity while serving their audience, and the possibility of being misinterpreted or being canceled. But, hating and dehumanizing each other isn't the path forward. Welcome to episode 13 of Rebel by Design! In this episode, I'm speaking with Kristina Bruce, a body acceptance and coach who helps women end the war against their bodies. Kristina and I discuss cancel and accountability culture (which I love to talk about) especially being an entrepreneur online! She understands that saying what feels true to you means you're gonna piss some people off, that you can't safeguard against triggering people, and that it's not your responsibility to do so. Entrepreneurs have to trust and have faith in knowing that the right people will resonate with their message. You don't have to be coerced into participating in public takedowns just because you have a public platform. We can change the narrative TOGETHER from a place of mutual respect. Enjoy the show!! We've all heard of someone “getting canceled”. Most people, especially entrepreneurs in the online space, have a healthy fear of being canceled. But, what really happens on the other side of being canceled? These days you can get canceled for nearly anything. It can be incredibly stressful to speak your mind or voice your opinions in the current climate. But, as I always say not talking is going to cause you more distress and harm than allowing yourself to speak up! Welcome to episode 9 of Rebel by Design! In this episode, I'm chatting with my first guest, Caroline Dooner. Caroline is an accomplished author, friend, and an example of why cancel culture is toxic. We are laying it all out! From the politics of the anti-diet space to exactly what happened when Caroline got canceled (for no good reason). In this talk, Caroline is as witty and irreverent as ever and offers a fresh perspective on this cultural phenomenon. We're all just humans trying to navigate this life. I'm experimenting with letting myself be sober. Now, that doesn't mean that I struggle with dependency on alcohol, but my body still has a problem with alcohol. I will tell you, even if I have just one drink, (I don't drink heavily at all) I always feel it the next day. So, I began to question, why do I drink at all? Welcome to episode 8 of Rebel by Design! In this episode, I'm scrutinizing not only my relationship with alcohol but our society's relationship with it at large. There are few things that are so normalized and glamorized as drinking culture- but to what end? What if we actually just talked about the fact that no one ever really questions alcohol, to begin with? We question other drugs, but not alcohol unless it's a “severe” problem. I'm bringing this up as a conduit to get you thinking about things you do for the perceived comfort of others, but don't necessarily feel right for you. We can't be rebels without letting ourselves experience life on our terms without giving reasons or apologies for it. Do what feels good for you, even if other people don't understand or like it. How do I say what I want without being afraid? This is a question I'm often asked. First things first, I'm a projector aquarian- so there's that. But really, what drives me to speak what's on my heart is that it's a lot scarier for me not to share. Keeping quiet makes me sick, and it's doing the same to you! This is why Human Design has completely changed my life and business. I know what my strengths are, and it has made me truly magnetic and unstoppable! Welcome to episode 7 of Rebel by Design! In this episode, I'm taking a deep dive into why fear is an illusion created to keep you playing small, and how to overcome it. And, how letting go and being yourself doesn't repel people at all, instead, they are magnetized to you. I also remind you to get out of your own way- because with so many years of conditioning, generational trauma, people pleasing, and good girl syndrome- can be challenging to move forward. But, there's another way to live! We can't control what other people do, but we can control what we say and what we stand for! Allow yourself to be free. Their triggers aren't your responsibility! The hypothetical gray area, when you're stuck in your head wondering: Will my clients: -like it? -pay for it? -be offended if I say this thing? Is exhausting! And it's the perpetual loop of people-pleasing. Setting boundaries in your business is just as important as setting them in your personal life. What serves your clients best is putting your needs and boundaries first so you can serve at your highest capacity. Welcome to episode 6 of Rebel by Design! In today's episode, I'm talking about what causes people-pleasing and how it's based on fear and control. I share healthy boundaries you can implement to make your business feel good again. When you put so much effort into how others feel, you stop paying attention to your emotions. Suddenly you're leaking all your energy, not making any money, and attracting clients that aren't aligned for you. Soul mate clients, however, will appreciate and respect your boundaries. When they see you stand in your power and take care of yourself it benefits you both. I love you, Catie Love the show? Connect with me! I do what I want. I speak my truth, even if it's not your truth. Mainly because I'm not afraid, and don't care what people think of me. I get it. It feels scary to say how you feel, especially in the online space. But I think the reason why people are so unhappy and sick is that they're afraid to express themselves. Welcome to episode 4 of Rebel by Design! In today's episode, I'm getting spicy (medium spicy, if you ask me), discussing what people now deem as polarizing or controversial social media posts. I take a deep dive into why I'm cool with being called a woman, and not a person with a uterus. I know for sure that If we aren't letting ourselves speak what's on our hearts, or have difficult conversations it's hard to attract the people we want into our life. Especially as an entrepreneur, it's so important that you let people feel your authentic energy, power, and leadership- because in turn that activates something in them. It's the only way to be magnetic. Do you, and speak your truth. Don't let people online project their ish on to you. It dulls your shine. I love you, Catie Love the show? Connect with me! What emotions are you attaching to money? Is money the root of all evil? Is it the one thing you're missing so that you can actually feel happy? What if I told you that money is neutral energy, and all that meaning you attach to it- that's you giving your power away? Join me in episode 3 of Rebel by Design as I'm taking a deep dive into money stories. I'll be sharing my own struggles with money mindset, and help you uncover any negative emotional ties (you may not even be aware of) that you have to money. Feeling shame around wanting to make a decent living while hustling yourself into exhaustion is not the vibe. Today, we take the power money has over us BACK, decide that we deserve more, and trust we will receive it. Remember, money is a currency with neutral energy, and you're the electricity that energizes it! I love you, Catie Love the show? Connect with me! Is social media not feeling fun for you either? Are you overthinking and second-guessing everything before you post because you're afraid it'll lead to your own public takedown? Truth is, self-censorship is making you sick. Your voice matters and people need to hear what you have to say- what you REALLY have to say! I know it can be terrifying to speak your truth, but it's way scarier to keep quiet. Whether you've been a victim of cancel culture or not, we need to start questioning if this is the type of world we want to raise our children in. We need to be able to express our unique talents and gifts, without being added to the cancel culture victim list. Today, in episode 2 of Rebel by Design, I'm sharing my thoughts on this online phenomenon. I'm exploring how this all-or-nothing thinking is keeping us silent and keeping us small. I'm here to lead by example, and to welcome you into a space where you can be yourself, and find a listening ear- even if we disagree! So, tune in Rebel, and let's remember that you can only be canceled if you cancel yourself! Cancelation only has power if you give it authority over you! I love you, Catie Love the show? You're ready. To stop caring what other people think- and live authentically. To let yourself be a controversial woman- and say what you need to say. To allow your journey through life to actually feel GOOD- at all costs! Welcome to the very first episode of Rebel By Design! In today's episode, I'm sharing all about my “safe” life journey as a therapist that left me feeling unfulfilled- even at the pinnacle of my career. How a dark night of the soul shifted my perspective forever and led me down the path of self-development, and into coaching people to find their true selves using human design. I'm sharing my story because wherever you are on your journey I want you to know that you deserve to feel good, to tell your truth, and that joy and success are your birthrights and you're allowed to reach for them. I'm also discussing how today's cancel culture doesn't leave much room for disagreement or change without dire consequences, and as a result, we are living in a time where everyone is afraid to speak. But I'm here to open up a conversation about opting out of polarization and binary thought- because when we say what we mean, even when it's not easy, we live our most uncensored, rebellious, joy-filled lives! Living a true, authentic, and fulfilling life isn't always a linear path- and I'm here for all of it! So, tune in and rebel with me! I love you, Catie Love the show? Connect with me!
