Victor Davis Hanson breaks down the tragic irony of today's transgender sports movement on today's episode of “Victor Davis Hanson: In His Own Words.” “ As a classicist, I can tell you that there are documented fables, myths, poems, histories about people who feel they were in the wrong bodies. … There's a long history of sex research about people whose psychological or hormonal makeup does not match their physical characteristics. But here's the key: They're very rare. “The Left was supposed to be for gender parity. … And now we're kind of reactionary. We flipped it upside down, where males go around the back, take over women's sports, and essentially, destroy it. And yet that is popular among many on the Left.”
Aaron McIntire reports Israel's unilateral strikes on Iran's nuclear missile sites, military headquarters, and officials, escalating tensions without public U.S. backing, despite President Trump's push for a diplomatic nuclear deal. Secretary of State Marco Rubio clarifies the U.S. is not involved but was informed by Israel, emphasizing protection of American forces. McIntire warns this could dwarf the Israel-Hamas conflict. Trump has dueling messages on immigration, but says he's still vowing the largest mass deportation in history, protecting ICE and Border Patrol. Senator Alex Padilla (D-CA) is tackled by Secret Service at a DHS press conference in Los Angeles after lunging at the podium to question Secretary Kristi Noem, later meeting to clarify the incident. The House narrowly passes Trump's $9.4 billion DOGE cuts, slashing foreign aid and public broadcasting funds. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth shuts down Rep. Sarah Jacobs' (D-CA) culture war jab, citing mental health concerns with gender dysphoria in military readiness. McIntire fields listener questions on Los Angeles riots as law enforcement, congressional grandstanding, and Truth Social's role as Trump's megaphone. They explore the psychological and cultural forces driving this trend, including trauma, social contagion, and the influence of online communities. Mia shares her personal journey and offers a critical perspective on gender-affirming care, the phenomenon of autogynephilia, and the concept of diagnostic overshadowing—where gender identity becomes the sole focus of treatment at the expense of underlying mental health conditions. Together, they reflect on the ethical dilemmas within the trans rights movement, the medicalization of nonconforming identity, and the growing cultural shift toward victimhood over resilience.Chapters:00:00 Introduction to Gender Affirming Care02:02 Mia Hughes' Journey and Background05:20 The WPATH Files and Medical Scandal07:49 Statistics and Social Contagion in Gender Dysphoria12:55 Counterarguments: Transgender Identification vs. Homosexuality15:45 The Nature of Gender Dysphoria21:16 Understanding Autogynephilia27:26 The Impact of Trans Rights Movement33:01 Comparing Autogynephilia and Homosexuality40:23 Understanding Autogynephilia and Its Implications44:04 The Debate on Gender-Affirming Care50:29 Demographics of Gender Dysphoria58:49 The Role of Trauma in Gender Dysphoria01:12:32 Causation vs Correlation in Gender Identity01:14:58 Understanding Mental Health: Symptoms vs. Explanations01:18:47 The Role of Trauma in Mental Health01:21:35 The DSM and the Nature of Psychiatric Diagnoses01:24:29 The Impact of Labels on Mental Health01:27:48 Mindfulness and Mental Health01:32:23 The Utility of Diagnoses in Self-Discovery01:36:34 Navigating ADHD and Attention Issues01:42:11 The Paradox of Modern Life and Mental Health01:45:53 Victimhood Culture and Mental Health Perspectives This is a public episode. In this timely episode of CMDA Matters, Dr. Allan Josephson shares his compelling journey of standing firm in both science and faith. As a distinguished child and adolescent psychiatrist, Dr. Josephson courageously spoke out on the treatment of gender dysphoria, emphasizing evidence-based care rooted in compassion. His truth-telling led to professional backlash, including harassment and wrongful termination. But his stand for academic freedom and patient advocacy resulted in a legal victory and a powerful reminder of the cost – and the calling – of conviction. Join us for an essential conversation about faith, freedom, and advocating for vulnerable patients, especially children, in a challenging cultural climate.

Body hair! Love it or hate it, it's something nearly every human has to deal with. And for those of us who hate it, whose dysphoria it makes worse, that can mean a whole intensive process to get rid of it. This episode is a recording of the session titled "Transgender People and the Church" at the recent Exiles in Babylon conference in Minneapolis. In this session, I give a short theological overview of Transgender identities and Mark Yarhouse gives a psychological perspective. And then, we had three people share their testimonies: Remi Rathjen (a Christian who experiences Gender Dysphoria and who hasn't transitioned), Julia Mallott (a transitioned transwoman who does not identify as a Christian), and Chloe Cole (a Christian who transitioned at an early age and then detransitoned). Danielle May Laidley was known by a different name for the first 53 years of her life. We are so proud that this episode is a contributing factor to her reclaiming her narrative as a transgender woman. An extremely talented AFL footballer, Danielle would go on to become a highly respected coach, always keeping within arm’s reach the version of herself which felt most authentic. Danielle’s story, in its entirety, is so incredibly important that we had to split it over two big and special episodes. In this first part, we are introduced to phase 1 of her life: the footballer, the husband and the coach and with an addictive personality that caused her to become tough, fierce and obsessed with footy. Danielle discusses with Hugh, Ryan, and Josh the strict compartmentalisation of the different parts of her life during her AFL career, and the terrifying risks she took to satisfy the cravings to be her authentic self. You can watch the entire interview (Part One and Part Two) on YouTube, here – https://bit.ly/3FJ8Lw2
This is PART TWO of our chat with footballer, coach and uniter of people, Danielle Laidley. We HIGHLY recommend you go back and listen to part one if you haven’t heard it (linked below). In this episode, Danielle recounts how it felt to be publicly outed, her own voice removed as the media crafted their own narrative about her identity. A story of courage, resilience and love, Danielle vulnerably shares with Hugh, Ryan and Josh how she united her two worlds, and found the strength to live authentically for herself, and become a role model for others. In this episode of “Inside the Vatican,” Ricardo da Silva, S.J., speaks with veteran Vatican reporter Gerard O'Connell to provide the latest updates on Pope Francis' slow but steady recovery. In the second half, Ricardo and Gerry discuss a recent talk in Germany given by the Vatican's doctrinal chief Cardinal Víctor Manuel Fernández, which appears to present a pastorally sensitive response to those experiencing gender dysphoria. Anita hears from Professor of Health Policy, Tim Doran, about the work academics at the University of York are doing. They studied a decade's worth of NHS records and discovered a 50-fold increase in this particular diagnosis between 2011 and 2021. However each general practice will only see one or two such patients each year. The West End star Marisha Wallace, the latest actor to play Sally Bowles in Cabaret at The Kit Kat Club in London, performs a song from the show. The actor and writer Daisy May Cooper talks to Clare McDonnell about the second series of the BBC female-friendship thriller, Am I Being Unreasonable, which she both co-wrote and stars in. This is a free preview of a paid episode. To hear more, visit www.widerlenspod.comThe DSM diagnostic criteria for gender dysphoria are rooted in outdated sex-based stereotypes, reinforcing rigid and superficial notions of what it means to be male or female. These criteria often emphasize preferences in clothing, activities, and playmates, implying that natural variations in a child's behavior may signal a fundamental misalignment between their gender identity and biological sex.Historically, gender nonconformity in children was recognized as a common and unremarkable aspect of personality and development. However, cultural shifts and the rise of social media have amplified stereotypes, leading many to pathologize behaviors that once fell within the broad spectrum of normal childhood expression. A boy who enjoys dolls or a girl who prefers rough-and-tumble play is now more likely than ever to be viewed through a diagnostic lens that suggests “misalignment with their sex” rather than an expansion of what it means to be a boy or a girl.In this bonus episode for premium subscribers, Dr. Marieke den Ouden examines how the DSM's shift from “sex” to “gender” has introduced diagnostic ambiguity, increasing the risk of over-diagnosing children based on nonconformity to traditional gender roles. Highlighting inconsistencies across international definitions, she warns of the legal and policy ramifications of vague gender identity standards, particularly for women's rights and medical ethics. She presents a critical yet measured perspective, calling for greater clarity and scientific integrity. She advocates for a re-evaluation of gender dysphoria diagnosis to ensure that criteria are based on objective, measurable factors rather than social perceptions of gender roles, ensuring that medical and psychological interventions serve those in genuine need without unnecessarily pathologizing diverse expressions of personality and identity.Watch our full length episode with Marieke den Ouden: https://www.widerlenspod.com/p/episode-203For instructions on setting up a private feed to listen to our premium content in your favorite podcast app, visit https://www.widerlenspod.com/p/how-to-listen-to-our-full-premium.

She has over 10,000 hours of experience in education, both in the classroom and corporate sector. Even though she holds a Master's degree in education, she struggled to understand her neurodivergent and oppositional kids. Inspired by her experience using Myers Briggs and the Enneagram with business teams, she spent over a decade researching temperament pattens to help family teams. She is a best-selling author and host of the Not So Normal Parenting podcast. Her podcast is entitled Not So Normal Parenting because not only are she and her kids neurodivergent but some of her life experiences, such as driving off a cliff her wedding night and going viral for embarrassing her seventeen-year old son by dancing on a snowy and jammed interstate, fall into that category. In addition to being talked about by Hoda Kotb, the BackStreet Boys, and Princess Kate, even U2 singer Bono mentioned the incident in his autobiography. Because Wendy herself has struggled as a helicopter parent, a cranky parent and an embarrassing parent, she wants to help other parents struggle……..a little bit less!
