Stetson Baptist Church
In the Parable of the Prodigal Son, Jesus describes how our Father chases after us even in our sin. Question: Who has followed Jesus through YOUR following Jesus?
What does it look like to love the lost like Jesus did? In the Parable of the Lost Sheep, we find out. What is your goal for the church: Pharisaical Preservation or Spiritual Rescue?
Join us as we begin a new series highlighting an initiative of several local-area churches that are trying to show our love for Jesus by loving our neighbors. From the familiar story of The Good Samaritan, Pastor Dan challenges us to Love God and Love our Neighbor.
In this message, we see an angle of the model prayer that emphasizes the community aspect of prayer. Should our prayer life change from ME to WE? Jesus would say, "Yes." Get Connected: Ask someone, "How Can I Pray for you," and Practice a 5-5-5 Prayer rhythm.
"Membership has its privileges." This American Express slogan has widespread implications. Even for the church, some have tried to apply this slogan to church membership; however, it is totally different in the church. As a church, the fringe benefit is RESPONSIBILITIES...not privileges. Hear more in today's message: Get Connected: Be Selfless, Enthusiastic, Real, Vested, and Engaged.
Through dialect, our words reveal where we are from. However, our words also reveal what is in our hearts. How are you using your words? Pastor Dan shows us 3 ways things that are revealed by the way we use words in our life. Get Connected by Exalting God, Encouraging the Church, and Engaging a Friend.
In this message, we look at Jesus' parable on the "Laborers in the Vineyard." This parable informs our view of Heaven and our view of the kingdom work that happens in the church. Pastor Dan draws out three important lessons from the parable that help us to Get Connected: Grow Intentionally and Serve Faithfully.
Continuing the series on being Connected, this message focuses on the strong need for unity within the church. While there are SO many things that divide us, there is ONE thing that unites us: Jesus Christ. Will you choose to be united or divided? Get Contacted: Join the Church and "Be the Person..."
As we begin a new series of sermons, our desire is to connect to Christ...to the Church...to each other! In this message on Jesus' illustration of the vine and the branches, we look at how that illustration informs our connection to Jesus which connects us to each other. Get Connected: Give your life to Jesus and Plant your life in the church.
As the Apostle Paul finishes his letter to Timothy, he lists people that will carry on the ministry that he has begun. In our lives we should do the same. We need to make specific plans to pass on the baton of faith so the ministry that God has given us will not end with the end of our life. In this message, Pastor Dan sits down with one of our church members to share a testimony about passing faith on to others.
None of us are eternal. Every life has an expiration date. The important thing is what we will do with the time we have left!! In this sermon, Pastor Dan uses some typical coach-speaking to encourage us to live our life well and make a lasting impact.
Adulting is hard, but necessary. The process of becoming an adult is part of maturing spiritually, there are some elements of our faith that may not always be easy, but are required for us to grow. Join us as our Student Pastor, Andrew Floyd, takes a look at 2 Timothy 4:1-5 and considers what maturity means for us.
As Christians, we say we live our lives by the Bible, but do we? Do we really place the amount of importance on the Word of God that we should? In this sermon, Pastor Dan breaks down 2 Timothy 3:16-17 (one of the greatest descriptions of the Bible in all of Scripture). He also gives a seven question "test" that will help you judge your personal engagement with the Word of God.
The world we live in needs an extra dose of decency. Television, Radio, Print Media, other forms of entertainment, and the Internet bombard our minds and emotions with so many negative and impure thoughts and images. What is needed in the world is for a people to embrace the value of righteousness and holiness. In this message, Pastor Dan encourages you to embrace holiness and to repent of that sin that plagues your heart. Let's live HOLY lives!
On this day of celebrating our freedom, we focus on patriotism and its proper expression in light of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. How can we show our patriotism while making much of Jesus? Remember that while we may be earthly citizens of the United States, we are eternally citizens of Heaven. How should we walk in this dichotomy? Let 2 Timothy 2:14-26 be your guide.
Everybody goes through hard times. However, sometimes those hard times are extended and become times of suffering rather than just tough times. In this message, Pastor Dan gives several reasons that we should have FAITH in Suffering. If you're going through a season of suffering, we hope this will be an encouragement to your heart.
If you were to get a lecture from God through the pages of scripture, what would it contain? The beginning of 2 Timothy chapter 2 answers that question. In this "lecture," Paul instructs Timothy on four very important pieces of advice that are just as applicable today as they were in Timothy's day. In this Father's Day message, listen to Pastor Dan share four pieces of advice that as earthly fathers we should pass down to those under our influence.
Today Pastor Brad Gwartney examines 2nd Timothy 1:8 - 18. With the idea that real faith requires perseverance, we study the last words of Paul to Timothy and discuss how to apply them to our lives.
Memorial Day is a time to remember those who have given their lives in service to our country. We are so thankful and grateful to these men and women who have paid the ultimate sacrifice so we may enjoy the freedoms of this great country. As Christians, we should also remember and recognize the sacrifice made by so many that have given their lives in service to our faith. The writer of Hebrews gives a list of such people and encourages us to remember them in some specific ways.
As we begin a new sermon series, Pastor Dan preaches a message on the reason we have for being confident in the world today. As Christians, we feel opposition from the world and its influences. How can we be confident? Why should we be confident? Engage with us in the book of 2 Timothy to find out.
On the day we honor our Graduates, Andrew Floyd shares the final message from our Children's Stories sermon series: Daniel and the Lion's Den. What wa Daniel's perspective in this story? How did Daniel react when things got difficult? How did God respond to Daniel's faithfulness? How does this story point us to Jesus? Find out the answers to these questions in this sermon.
At the outset, this may seem like an odd sermon. Is Pastor Dan REALLY about to compare Moms to Jesus? Yes... Yes he IS!!! The story of Jesus calming the storm has so many parallel's in our experience with our mom. Moms do so much for us. However, even when moms falter, there' still someone who covers the gaps!
Gather around kids...Let me tell you about the time a BIG SCARY GIANT threatened God's people and a little boy went out to fight the scary giant and won...then he cut off his head! Is "David and Goliath" really a Children's story? I don't think so. Instead, it's a story about the victory that comes in our life when we trust in Jesus. Listen as Pastor Dan shares this story and challenges you to do two things: Receive Jesus as your Savior and Give your life in service to God.
The world was evil. God had decided to completely start over with his creation of mankind with one exception: Noah and his family. God told Noah to build a large boat and through that boat, God would deliver Noah, his family, and a pair of every land-dwelling animal through a worldwide flood that would destroy everything. However, God remembered Noah in that flood and God still remembers us today!
"In the beginning, God created..." with those five words. EVERYTHING starts: Creation, the Bible, the story of Mankind, the world we live in, etc... The Beauty of God's creation can still be seen today. However, what we see today pales in comparison with God's original creation because of one thing: SIN. When man sinned, the original creation of God was marred and our relationship with God was broken. In today's message, Pastor Dan helps us to see how we can recover that relationship with God and, one day, experience the beauty of God's original creation again!
Easter is the Super Bowl of the annual church calendar!! It's the most important day every year. Today, Pastor Dan looks at the result of Easter rather than exactly what happened ON that first Resurrection Sunday. This message from Romans chapter 3 helps us to connect with the GOOD NEWS of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Question for you...have YOU Heard, Received, and Shared the Good News?
On Palm Sunday each year, we celebrate the day that Jesus entered into Jerusalem in what is called the Triumphal Entry. This would begin the week that would end in the arrest of Jesus, his trial, false conviction, and crucifixion. However, before we get to this story, the scene of the Triumphal Entry has a lot to teach us. Looking at the scene itself, Pastor Dan draws out the various characters surrounding the Triumphal Entry and what they each can teach us today as the King Returns into our lives.
In the world today, there are many "versions" of the Christian message. However, there is only ONE true version! There are many false teachers out there, and this phenomenon is not new. In Timothy's day, there were also many false teachers, so Paul gives Timothy instruction on how to identify and avoid false teachers. This message is just as relevant today as it was in biblical times. Join Pastor Dan as he teaches on Staying Focused and finishes up the series through 1 Timothy.

The Bible talks about money more than almost every other subject. Obviously, God wants us to pay attention to how we treat money. In today's sermon, Pastor Dan offers some tips on how to be financially faithful to God and how to have an eternal perspective of our "stuff".
Who we are is formed by the relationships of our lives. Does the Bible speak to the issue of relationships? The answer is a resounding, "YES!" The Bible speaks to relationships both in a specific and a general way. In this message, Pastor Dan takes a LARGE section of scripture and breaks down how it instructs the church in relationships and responsibilities. Make no mistake, even though this passage of scripture is more specific in its language, there are some general principles that we can apply to all relationships in our lives.

He presents some of his personal experience to introduce Stetson Baptist Church to future opportunities to engage with being "on mission" in their every day lives. If you would like to know more about these mission opportunities and get involved, reach out to Pastor Dan at glennd@stetsonbaptistchurch.org
In the Christian life, there are a number of things that can trip us up from fully following Jesus. In this message, Pastor Dan describes some of the "Pitfalls" that can cause us to fall back from realizing the fullness of satisfaction in our daily Christian walk.

God created every man and woman with the ability to lead. Whether you are a CEO, a barista, a teacher, or even a student in first grade, you were created to lead.
This Sunday's sermon did NOT go as planned. Well...it didn't go as WE had it planned. Our intention was to continue our study of 1 Timothy with a look at chapter 3 on Overseers and Deacons. That's what we did in the first service (which isn't recorded.) However, in our second service there was a GLORIOUS interruption of plans.
There are many people who are leaving the Church today. The reason many of them are leaving is their observation of "church people." In this sermon, Pastor Dan encourages us to treat others with grace because God has treated us with grace. Buckle up for "deep" sermon. (In this sermon, we look at one of the most controversial passages of scripture in ll of the Bible.)
We can hold on to a lot of things in life, but only ONE thing will actually hold on to US. The Apostle Paul realized this and encourages his young mentor, Timothy, to place his faith in the right place. In this sermon, Pastor Dan encourages us to spend our lives in the grip of the grace of Jesus.
God has a purpose for every person. To live life fully, one must be faithful to do what God has created them to do.

Family. We've all got one. What does the Bible say about families? How should they live together? How should they treat each other? How can we glorify God through our family?
Everyone loves getting good news. But, what if that good news could actually become bad news for us? What we do with the good news of Jesus will determine whether it is actually good news or if it will become bad news for us. Let us become like the four lepers in 2 Kings 7 who choose to accept and share the good news that they recieved.
