From a young age, many of us take on labels and beliefs that others project onto us, and without realizing it, we reinforce them for years. But just as we have been reinforcing the negative, we can also choose to build ourselves up with kindness, compassion, and belief in who we are.I share why trusting yourself comes before credentials, achievements, or outside validation. You decide that you belong first, then you reinforce it through your actions and continued growth. Confidence is not about waiting until you feel ready. It is about choosing to believe in yourself, reinforcing that belief daily, and trusting that you will figure things out along the way.If you have been wrestling with fear of failure, imposter syndrome, or feeling like you do not measure up, this is your reminder that it starts with a decision. You choose it. You build it. If you're someone who is sensitive, optimistic, kind, or compassionate at your core, hold on to that. Build the layers and armor you need, but do not change who you truly are.I also talk about how the online space can distort reality, and why curating your feed is so important for your well-being. Puppies, humor, and shared interests like ice cream can be simple ways to reset and reconnect with what makes you feel good. This is a reminder to choose and over either/or, and to look for commonalities that spark curiosity and connection.Don't let the perceived world take you away from yourself. It is not about forcing someone to think differently, it is about creating a space where common ground can be found. I reflect on the idea that our world is not about absolutes or choosing one side over another. Instead, it is about embracing “and” — holding multiple truths while staying open to others' perspectives.I tell a story of reconnecting with someone I met years ago who continues to inspire me with quotes and reflections, including the powerful reminder that if we spread love as quickly as we spread hate, the world would be transformed. This message highlights the power of small daily actions, choosing compassion, and offering love as an alternative to negativity. We may not be able to change everyone, and we certainly cannot demand change, but we can choose to look for the good in others and start with ourselves. It begins with understanding, patience, and one meaningful conversation at a time.If this message resonates, I would love to hear from you. In this episode I unpack what actually leads to change. Not the hot takes and talking points that get clicks, but the quiet work of finding common ground, choosing curiosity, and having real one on one conversations. I share why telling someone they are wrong rarely shifts anything, how nuance gets lost when everything is framed as us versus them, and why I aim my message at people who are open to dialogue. We talk about applying this to fitness and weight loss, then carrying it into the rest of life. I explain how mindful consumption of content matters, how I approach differing views without debate, and why self appreciation is the only absolute I push. If we can connect on one shared value, we can start listening to each other everywhere else. That is where change begins. In This Episode• Why common ground beats winning arguments.• The power of one on one conversation for real change.• Letting go of absolutes to make room for nuance and context.• Mindful content consumption and how it shapes your outlook.• Self appreciation as the foundation for sustainable growth.I want to hear your perspective. Evergreen, for me, is the heart of Your Level Fitness. Connect with yourself, live an inside/out life, appreciate the body you have, and reinforce it every day. That message never expires and it is always there for you.Because I have a strong evergreen base, I can track what millennials and older are curious about in fitness right now. I ask you for your experiences, I listen for opposing points of view, and I fold that feedback into useful conversations. My background is not just my personal journey. I have trained in gyms and studios, coached groups and boot camps, and even led couch to five K runners to their first ten K.I also bring my marketing and tech stack experience so the tools talk to each other and the work stays simple and scalable. I use AI thoughtfully to reframe my own words so the message is clear, consistent, and in my voice. The goal is a calm, deliberate pace. First, Taco Tuesday has officially become a lifestyle. Every week I look forward to grabbing the La Torta Loco taco special, and honestly it has become a little weekly anchor for me. It even helps me avoid unnecessary restaurant runs the rest of the week because I know the tacos are coming. The other piece of my current reality is dealing with my ankles. I'm recovering from pretty severe internal bruising on one side and increasing discomfort on the other. That means MRIs, physical therapy, and a structured daily routine of stretches that are basically workouts themselves. The sessions range from twenty to thirty minutes depending on which set I do, and they're hitting the exact areas that need support. The real challenge is staying calm, not rushing, and keeping perspective while managing all this with cerebral palsy in the background. So today's mix is tacos and CP. I'd love to hear about your favorite food specials, whether it's Taco Tuesday or something else. If you have a spot I should know about, let me know. Not necessarily when you were outright wrong, but when your perspective wasn't the whole truth. That moment of recognition, whether it comes through a therapist pointing out blind spots or simply from daily interactions with others, can be a powerful catalyst for growth. We dive into the nuance of perception—yours and others. How what you say and do is filtered through not only your blind spots but also the blind spots of the people receiving it. Acknowledging when you miss something doesn't make you flawed, it makes you human. It gives you the opportunity to foster better relationships, broaden your perspective, and let go of the need to always be right.I share why leaning into that initial discomfort of being wrong is important, and how reframing it as a learning opportunity instead of a personal flaw can transform how you navigate the world. It is easy to blame others for the life you have, and it is common to tear down people who are trying to change. That hot garbage mindset keeps you stuck. If you have been talking yourself out of what you want, this is your invitation to step in the other direction, take the first step, and trust that you will figure out the rest.We unpack why calling others unrealistic is a shield for our own fear. Things look unreasonable until someone does them. Everyone who has accomplished something has faced adversity and found a way through. If you catch yourself tearing people down, stop. Decide who you want to be, take a step, and build from there.I also talk about the voices in your head that say you cannot do it. Those voices were planted by others, sometimes by people close to you, sometimes by randos online. You can cut ties with those thoughts. You can choose self trust, action, and an inside/out approach that connects you to who you are before you move outward. When you are ready, you will change. You will take the first step and you will trust yourself. I hope today is the day. At the end, I ask a fun check in. What food are you craving right now. Email me and let me know. We spend so much of our lives tied to past experiences and labels, and it can feel like we are stuck there. But you can make the choice at any moment to step into a new direction. It all starts with a decision. This is not about mantras or forcing yourself into routines. It is about trusting yourself to take the first step, even when you do not have all the answers. That first step might work out, it might not, but either way you learn and move forward. Everyone is figuring things out as they go, and you are no different. The question is whether you will trust yourself to decide or continue letting others decide for you.Yes, it will be uncomfortable. Growth always is. But staying under the pressure of other people's labels is even heavier. You already know what your first step is, it is just a matter of whether you will give yourself permission to take it.So if you do not like your situation, if you do not like how you are being perceived, change it. Do not let others dictate who you are or what you are capable of. Their opinions are often rooted in criticism because it is easier to tear someone else down than to build themselves up. Your power comes from choosing to trust yourself and moving forward one step at a time. Please share this episode with anyone you think would be interested in listening to it.Visit darylperrypodcast.com for links to the show page on each of the major podcast directories. When I first started this show I avoided interviews for months because I was nervous about interrupting and talking over people. Conversations with Gary Cantrell encouraged me to try, and from there I did hundreds of interviews, plus plenty of appearances and co hosting. Over time the vibe around guest episodes shifted. Casual story sharing turned into everyone needing to be an expert. Clips were cut for hot takes and quick views, which stripped the nuance that makes long form conversations valuable.I also ran into the pressure of release schedules. Hitting a weekly cadence can make you chase a content cushion instead of being fully present with the person in front of you. Get too far ahead and it feels rigid. Fall behind and episodes slip, then a show suddenly becomes seasonal by accident. At the same time I have been tearing down and rebuilding Your Level Fitness. That work has taken a lot of focus, which meant fewer interviews even though I still love the format.Podcasting still works. In a noisy scroll first world, you can press play and live your life while listening. I will be bringing interviews back with a few focused series. Some will be fitness. Some will be mental health. Some will be open conversations with curious people who want to explore ideas without chasing shock value. If you have thoughts or want to share your story, email me at daryl@yourlevelfitness.com. What do your views on holiday or seasonal items say about you. For some people seasonal boundaries are clear and strict. Pumpkin spice in the fall. Peppermint in December. Holiday music only after Thanksgiving. For me it is different. I drink iced coffee year round. Sometimes that iced coffee has gingerbread flavor in the spring or peppermint in the summer. I watch winter themed series on Netflix in the middle of the year. And yes, Christmas music starts for me on November first at the latest.I think the way we look at seasonality reflects something deeper. If you like things clearly defined you probably value order and predictability. That makes sense because life throws us plenty of curveballs. If you prefer mixing things up you may thrive on curiosity and flexibility. Neither way is right or wrong. What matters is being open to exploring traditions, perspectives, and experiences different from your own. That curiosity helps us understand each other better.I would love to hear your take. Who are you performing for. We talk about how performance shows up online and offline. From curated feeds to how you move through your day. If you are posting you are portraying a version of you. I call these avatars. The ones that resonate with me share real parts of who they are. Sometimes louder. Not exaggerated. Just turned up enough to cut through the noise without becoming someone else entirely.Impact is personal. Are you chasing views. Or are you offering something useful and encouraging to people who are tired of the negativity in their feeds. I believe most of us want steady positive encouragement. A reminder that good things are still happening. So today is a prompt. What character are you playing right now. Why are you playing it. Who is it for. Journal on it. Or drop a few lines in your notes app. Awareness is the first step. Alignment is the next.I want to hear your thoughts. Email me at daryl@yourlevelfitness.com. We live in a time where our camera rolls and social feeds make it simple to replay highlights, yet that convenience can pull us out of the actual experience. I share a recent observation from a WWE premium live event in Paris. As performers made their entrances, countless phones were up to capture it. The energy was huge, yet many of us were seeing it through a screen instead of with our own eyes. This is not an anti tech rant. I love documenting life, and I get why we create for our audiences and for ourselves. The question is about balance. Are we recording memories while missing the memory forming in real time. Where is that line for you.I want you to reflect on a moment you wish you had been more present for. Was it a concert. A game. A family milestone. A quiet everyday moment that mattered. If you feel called to share, email me your story. Tell me what you missed and what you want to do differently the next time you feel the urge to perform and post instead of participate. I talk about how I use systems and scheduling to get content out consistently while also allowing myself room to step back, observe, and live life beyond the work. This balance has helped me avoid burnout and keep perspective on what really matters. You'll hear my thoughts on why authenticity still matters most in the current content landscape. It's easy to automate and pump out endless clips, but what people need is genuine connection, optimism, and reminders that they have the power to shape their mindset and approach to life.I also touch on how fitness is a powerful vehicle for deeper conversations about self-appreciation, emotional health, and body image. The message of self-acceptance and building an inside/out life cannot be repeated too much. Finally, I invite listeners to send me an email with a dog emoji, just so I know you're still tuning in. It's my little way of keeping this personal and connected in a noisy world. Please share this episode with anyone you think would be interested in listening to it.Visit darylperrypodcast.com for links to the show page on each of the major podcast directories. The message has always been about creating a supportive, all-inclusive space where your effort is encouraged and celebrated. Whether you follow a specific program, a certain eating style, or none of the traditional paths at all, your progress matters here.I go deeper into how the YLF community is not just about who buys merch or signs up for coaching. If you're using the self-paced resources to connect with yourself and live an inside/out life, you're part of this community. That's the foundation. It's not about being a customer. It's about showing up for yourself and encouraging others doing the same.We also talk about the growing presence of community tags on social media, why I'm bringing back more livestreams, and how I'm using content to meet you where you are. I want this to feel personal, because it is. This has been building since 2017 and the message has stayed consistent. You can live a fitness lifestyle that aligns with who you are, not one that tries to force you into someone else's mold. There's a lot going on with the podcast network, including new episodes of The Daily Podcast and returning Almost Daily updates like this one. In this conversation, I sat down with Stephanie Struif for an episode on the Talk with Stephanie podcast!Check her pod out here:https://linktr.ee/TalkwithStephanieWe got into authenticity, content creation, and what it means to stay true to yourself while navigating life and building a brand online. We talked about how it's possible to show up with encouragement and optimism, even when you're going through hard things personally. I shared what that looks like for me right now, including some physical setbacks I'm dealing with. We also discussed the layers of self we choose to share online, and why it's okay—and necessary—to keep most of who you are off camera or mic.We also dove into the realities of social media, algorithms, the creator economy, and the dangerous obsession with views and virality. I brought in some perspective from my years working with content creators on the marketing and backend side. Whether you're creating for one person or trying to build a business, I believe you can still win by focusing on your real message, building connection, and not selling out for trends. We closed out the conversation by talking about the importance of rest, digital boundaries, curation of your feed, and knowing when it's time to pull back and reconnect with yourself. Whether you're a creator, coach, or someone just trying to live authentically in a noisy world, I think this conversation will remind you that you don't have to shout to be heard—you just have to be real.Connect With Me:For everything from my podcast episodes to blog posts, videos, daily emails, and coaching programs, head to yourlevelfitness.comYou can also visit my personal site for more general content at darylperry.comIf you enjoy this episode, please rate and review the podcast on your favorite platform. Please share this episode with anyone you think would be interested in listening to it.Visit https://yourlevelfitness.com/podcast for links to the show page on each of the major podcast directories. We explore the assumptions people make when they see a person with a disability and how that often leads to the question, “Are you disabled enough?” From physical effort to perception, Zach shares deeply personal experiences that highlight how much unseen work goes into daily life and why no one should have to prove their struggle to others. We dig into the pressure to fit into a certain mold, how comparison can rob us of joy, and the freedom that comes from choosing to validate ourselves instead of waiting for others to do it. Zach opens up about what it means to truly blend out and own every part of who you are, from race finishes to college falls to everyday interactions. You'll hear about how he's used content creation to shift perceptions and what happens when you stop hiding your story. We also talk about being multidimensional, how labels like cerebral palsy don't define a person, and how humor and ownership can turn awkward or even painful moments into connection and growth. This episode is about much more than disability. It's about identity, inner strength, personal growth, and showing up fully as yourself. If you've ever felt misunderstood, overlooked, or pressured to meet someone else's standard of struggle, this conversation will resonate with you. So much of what we're told about discipline is centered around forcing ourselves through workouts or diets, but real discipline is about choosing to love ourselves even in a world constantly telling us we're not enough.I'm sharing why dragging yourself through routines you hate isn't discipline, and how building an environment that supports your success is key. I challenge you to do the hardest thing of all—love yourself first. This is a story about a tough day dealing with lingering injuries, making adjustments, and choosing to keep going. It's not about pushing through at all costs. It's about knowing your limits, honoring what your body is telling you, and trying again when it feels right. This isn't just a health update. It's a mindset check. I talk about how I've come to a place where the default is not quitting, even when I think about it. I also share where this podcast is headed, how it's returning to its roots as my audio journal, and why I'll be sharing these episodes more frequently but without a rigid schedule. I'll continue to point you toward the inside/out tools, but this space is going to stay raw, real, and flexible. If you've ever had a day where you felt like stopping but found the strength to try again, this one's for you. Please share this episode with anyone you think would be interested in listening to it.Visit darylperrypodcast.com for links to the show page on each of the major podcast directories. That doesn't mean you control everything. In fact, most of what happens in life is outside your control. But what is in your control still matters—and it's often the key to getting unstuck and regaining hope.I walk you through how focusing on your actions, rather than worrying about uncontrollable outcomes, creates momentum. I talk about how empowering it is to shift your attention toward what you can influence directly. That's where confidence grows. That's where clarity starts. And when that happens, you move from helplessness to hope. We've all been through seasons that felt hopeless. But looking back, you made it through. This episode is a reminder that even when things feel like too much, there's always something within your control… and that's where your power lives. You don't need permission, you don't need a perfect plan, and you don't need everyone's approval. You just need to decide to start. This framework started as a resource to help with goal setting and progress tracking around weight loss, but it's grown into something much bigger. It now includes a structure for building an inside/out life, helping you work on your mental and emotional health too. I talk about how you can use this structure to exceed your goals, reflect weekly, and apply this to every area of life—not just fitness.I also explain how feedback from the YLF community has helped shape the tools and resources I'm putting out, and why your input is essential to keeping the framework useful and relevant. In this episode, I walk you through the weekly goal setting structure I use and teach, one that's built to help you exceed your goals instead of barely hitting them. This isn't about setting stretch goals just to fall short. It's about building confidence and consistency with goals that are realistic, flexible, and forward-moving.If you're new to this, start with one goal. One thing you can commit to doing a certain number of times this week. Make it achievable but also meaningful. I'll share how I use this approach with the six minimum daily actions and how it helps me stay consistent even when life gets unpredictable. This is about getting better at planning and adjusting with intention. The full YLF system of tools, including the 31-day tracker, self-paced blog resources, and The YLF Experience coaching program, are all linked below. This is all about building your life from the inside/out using simple, consistent practices. I guide you through how to evaluate your past week with a no-judgment approach, using your results to help you fine-tune your goals for the week ahead. We talk through the six minimum daily actions that serve as the foundation for the inside/out approach. Four are about your relationship with yourself, including positive self-talk, disconnected time, journaling, and creative pursuits. The other two focus on fitness basics like eating produce and getting in daily movement. These aren't rigid rules, they're adaptable starting points you can build on as your routines grow. This is one of our more tactical check-in episodes, part of a weekly rhythm that includes reflection, planning, and midweek adjustments. There's a push to be the lone wolf, to be the person who handles everything without help. While self-reliance and time alone are essential for growth, that's only part of the story. The truth is, we also need real connection. Not the surface-level kind, but meaningful relationships that give our accomplishments and daily life deeper fulfillment.Being strong isn't about isolating yourself, it's about being comfortable in your own mind while still letting others in. Today's episode is a reminder that you can do both. You can be self-sufficient and still reach out. You can think deeply and still show up for connection. That includes the patterns you repeat without even noticing—the blind spots that hold you back. Therapy can be a powerful tool to help reveal those patterns, especially when you're working with someone who can call them out gently but effectively. But even outside of therapy, there are ways to start spotting these things for yourself. We talk about how your social circles can unintentionally reinforce your blind spots, how the internet can trap you into a narrow point of view, and why reconnecting with yourself is the most important step in cutting through the noise. If your week is going well, then keep riding that wave. But if things haven't gone quite as planned, this is your opportunity to step back, look at how your goals were set, and shift your strategy. You don't need to follow every plan to the letter. This is about building the skill of adapting while staying focused on your long-term direction. It's not failure to pivot. I've been leaning into this discomfort and using content as a way to tell my story—not to fit in, but to stand out. I also get into something new I've been doing: writing messages on coffee cups as part of my “Caffeine with Compassion” project.
