Are you putting an unnecessary ceiling on your possibilities? Or have you made a story, consciously or sub-consciously, that has kept you small? Does a comment from the past prevent you from expressing yourself? In my work with clients over the years, as well as in my own life, it is so common to see someone existing under a ceiling of sorts. It's so sneaky that you might not even realize that it's there. It's very easy to accidentally ride along with limitations. Today, we bring that awareness to the fore, and we talk about how to remove the barriers that are keeping you from living out the things that mean the most to you. It is my PASSION for us all to be freed from unnecessary criticism, unfair marginalization and anything else that has kept our voices and expression small - so that this world will be more beautiful, more brilliant, more empathetic, more loving and more "anything-that-makes-you-uniquely-you"

99: Does Confirmation Bias Play a Role in the Ways You See Yourself? With Singer Leslie Page

One way to think of confirmation bias is the tendency to find new evidence to confirm our existing beliefs, opinions or theories. It can be quite natural to do this, but the problem comes when we subconsciously confirm damaging comments from the past in ways that keep us silent or small. Today, Leslie Page and I are here to discuss how to consciously separate out the truth and consider other beliefs so that you can find freedom and no longer be bound by old narratives and criticisms. It can be quite a nuanced space to understand and undo, but this is absolutely possible and incredibly empowering. Leslie Page is a professional singer, songwriter and music and dance teacher. Her life experiences resonate in the timbre of her rich and sultry tone. Her career as a vocalist spans over 20 years singing with the the likes of legendary guitar player, Joe Walsh (The Eagles) Ringo Starr, Keith Urban, Vince Gill, Billy Gibbons, Rick Springfield, Zack Brown Band, Gary Clark Jr, Hunter Hayes, Brad Paisley, Luke Bryan, Peaches and Herb, Richard Marx, Paul Rogers (Bad Company) and many more. After last week's discussion, Leslie Page and I felt it important to talk even more deeply into the terrain of things that might hold you back from sharing your gifts. All too often, we can keep something in the realm of hypothetical thinking and never fully explore or realize the ideas that are calling to us. Last week, we asked you to explore your gifts and to consider what was calling to you when it came to contributing to the lives of others or to the world. This week, we are going to take a deeper look into the things that may be holding you back from expression and contribution. We talk about ways to dismantle the things that can unnecessarily hold you back from sharing your talents, your voice, your experiences, your insights and anything else that might be calling you to come forth. We continue to imagine a world where everyone feels free enough to actualize their uniqueness. Leslie Page is a professional singer, songwriter and music and dance teacher. I had one of those really hard weeks - where just when you think nothing else could go wrong, something else does. Even when you know that tough times will pass, sometimes they can really shake you up. All of this reminded me of the importance of being able to come home, both literally and metaphorically. That's the topic of this week's episode.Where do you turn when you feel unsteadied or overwhelmed? What does home mean to you? And how can we create and nurture places that allow us to feel held, be known and remember what is true? I hope this week's conversation will welcome you home.Ways to connect with Sas (she/her):Instagram: @lori_saseSign up for her newsletter or find out about coaching: https://www.lorisase.comEmail: sas@lorisase.com

I'm not talking about forced positivity or shallow happiness, as I believe that all emotions are valid and to be honored. This is more about how sometimes unnecessary heaviness could prevent you from enjoying the day as much as you deserve to.
