At 15, Sam Ruthe is breaking records and shattering expectations. With a jaw-dropping 3:58.35 mile, he became the youngest human ever to break four minutes, vaulting himself into the global spotlight. But if you know his story, none of this feels like a fluke.Running is in Sam's blood. His grandfather was a Commonwealth Games steeplechaser. His parents? Both competitive runners. You can't fake that kind of DNA.The stuff he has accomplished outside of just the mile already are dumbfounding:In November of 2024 he broke the New Zealand U17/U18 3000m record (with a time of 8:09.68).On February 1 of this year he won the senior national 3000m title in 7:56.18, becoming the youngest ever to do so.On February 9 of this year he ran 3:41.25 in the 1500m, which was faster than Jakob Ingebrigtsen did at the same age.On March 9 of this year he went toe-to-toe with Sam Tanner at the NZ Senior Champs, tying in 3:44.31 in the 1500m.And then on March 19 he blew past the four-minute mile barrier with a 3:58.35.And those are just the headlines. In 2025 alone, he clocked 1:50.57 in the 800m, 3:39.17 in the 1500m and 7:56.18 in the 3,000m.These aren't “great for his age.”They're just great.Full stop.Sam is humble, calculated, and deeply thoughtful—the kind of athlete who makes you rethink what's possible at any age.If you coach, compete, or love seeing the future before it's fully arrived — don't miss this one.In today's conversation, Sam takes me through his training, mindset, and ambitions. We go into him being the youngest person to ever break 4 minutes in the mile, training with professional runners, and so much more.Remember the name.Tap into the Sam Ruthe Special. If you enjoy the podcast, please consider following us on Spotify and Apple Podcasts and giving us a five-star review!I would also appreciate it if you share it with your friend who you think will benefit from it.Comment the word “PODCAST” below and I'll DM you a link to listen. If this episode blesses you, please share it with a friend!S H O W N O T E SThe Run Down By The Running Effect (our new newsletter!): https://tinyurl.com/mr36s9rsBUY MERCH BEFORE IT'S GONE: https://shop.therunningeffect.runOur Website: https://therunningeffect.runTHE PODCAST ON YOUTUBE: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UClLcLIDAqmJBTHeyWJx_wFQMy Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/therunningeffect/?hl=enTake our podcast survey: https://tinyurl.com/3ua62ffz

When surrendered and restored, God makes possible a profound affection and love for The Things of Earth. The man who hates his wife (Luke 14:26) is thus equipped to love her as Christ loved the church (Eph. 5:25). The man who places home and hearth before Christ is trying to make his home a place where people will bite and devour one another (Gal. 5:15). This is a box that people really don’t understand as they are deciding to open it up. All they know is that the label says home and hearth, blood and soil . . . nothing but wholesome happy thoughts inside. They are blindly reacting to the globalist imperative that insists we deracinate everything and everybody, and because it is an reaction, they lurch into a flirtation with the wrong kind of blood and soil ideology.
In this episode of the Screens in Focus podcast, hosts Diana and Sam dive deep into Dead City Season 2, Episode 7—the penultimate chapter. They kick things off with a thought-provoking question: What's scarier—heights, deep space, or the deep sea? The conversation unpacks Maggie's terrifying moment on the glass bridge, shocking reveals with Hershel and the Dama, and Negan's emotional descent into guilt, grief, and hallucination. They explore themes of control, manipulation, and survival, comparing Maggie and Negan's parallel journeys and what these trials say about who they are now. Favorite moments, fears, and finale predictions round out the discussion. Plus, the hosts share their current watches: Sam recommends The Mortician, Titan:The OceanGate Disaster, and more, while Diana talks about Ginny & Georgia, The Materialists, and the action-thriller Plane. 00:00 Introduction and Welcome 00:29 Question of the Day: What's Scarier? 01:04 Episode Highlights and Shocking Moments 02:31 Dharma and Herschel: Control or Belief? 09:22 Maggie's Struggles and Crow Ad's Intentions 14:41 Negan's Horror Hospital and Ghosts of His Past 24:58 Negan's Emotional Journey 25:49 Maggie and Negan: Mirrors of Each Other 27:33 Negan's Guilt and Redemption 29:26 Rapid Fire Questions 33:44 Speculations for the Finale 40:59 TV and Movie Recommendations 46:03 Final Thoughts and Farewell Website: www.screensinfocus.com Email: screensinfocus@gmail.com X https://x.com/screensinfocus Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/screensinfocuspodcast/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/screensinfocus Feedback and TV/Movie Recommendations: Google voice (669) 223-8542 Free background music from JewelBeat.com: www.jewelbeat.com

In this episode, Rebecca explores the intricate workings of the subconscious mind and its impact on our ability to achieve our goals. She shares insights into why we sometimes feel stuck despite being ready for success and how our subconscious mind prioritizes safety over our conscious desires. Key Takeaways: Understanding Bracing vs. Blocking: Rebecca highlights the concept of "bracing," where our subconscious mind holds us back not out of fear of failure, but as a protective measure based on past experiences. The Importance of Safety: Our subconscious mind seeks safety and familiarity. By identifying and addressing past traumas or "gunk," we can create a sense of safety that allows us to move forward with confidence and ease. Body Connection: Emotions are felt physically, and tuning into these sensations can provide valuable insights into our subconscious programming. Wildlife cinematographer Dan Abbott has travelled the world documenting marine life from the peaceful turtles of the Mediterranean to the iconic great white sharks off the coast of South Africa.More recently, though, Dan has hit the headlines for the videos he has shared of the colonies of whales who have made the British coast a regular stop in recent years. We're delighted, then, that Dan was able to join James Fisher on the Country Life podcast to talk all things marine wildlife, from the disarming curiosity of the blue shark to the alarming rudeness of the bottlenose dolphin. And yes, we also spoke to him about great white sharks, the awe-inspiring predator which actually inspired him to get in to a career as a wildlife film maker. Dan speaks about what it's like to come face to face with a creature which — thanks in large part to Steven Spielberg's Jaws — has a reputation as one of the scariest on the planet. Not only will Dan's insights make you think again, he'll also have your eyes widen as he talks about the predator even scarier than a great white in full flow. Welcome to Media Club Plus: a podcast about diving into the media that interests us and the stories that excite us. Sometimes a hunter has to kill. In Hunter x Hunter sometimes a hunter has to kill for love. Sometimes that's heroic, and sometimes that's scary. I guess it's more about who you kill, and how mean you seem while doing it. Luckily our friends Gon and Killua don't seem very mean at all. And neither do their new assassin adversaries, which is also lucky. Palm on the other hand, Palm Siberia, she's scary. Scarier even than the full suite of Chimera Ant Royal Guards, now fully splatted out from their egg things. As always we are brought to you by Friends at the Table. This season, we're watching 2011's Hunter x Hunter, based on the manga by Yoshihiro Togashi. In this episode we cover episodes 86-88, titled Promise x and x Reunion, Duel x and x Escape, and Rock Paper Scissors x and x Weakness. Next episode we'll be covering episodes 89-92, titled Compassion x And x Strength, Slow x and x Cursed, The Strong x and x The Weak, and One Wish x And x Two Promises. Featuring Keith Carberry (@KeithJCarberry, @KeithJCarberry), Jack de Quidt (@notquitereal, @jdq) Sylvi Bullet (@SYLVIBULLET, @SYLVIBULLET) and Andrew Lee Swan (@swandre3000, @swandre3000) Produced by Keith Carberry Music by Jack de Quidt (available at notquitereal.bandcamp.com) Cover Art by by Annie Johnston-Glick (@dancynrew) anniejg.com To find the screenshots for this episode, check out this post on our patreon, friendsatthetable.cash This episode was made with support from listeners like you! Have Coloradans spent too much time chasing Bigfoot when we have a cryptid native to our own Rocky Mountains hiding under our noses? The researchers at History Colorado have been digging into the archives, and they've uncovered stories of a creature that is almost too bizarre to believe — a “mountain whale” called the Slide-Rock Bolter. But true or not, these stories have a lot to say about Colorado's past and present. So today, History Colorado's foremost expert on the Slide-Rock Bolter, Lucy Snow, joins producer Paul Karolyi to tell the tale of the Slide-Rock Bolter, Colorado's mountain cryptid who has a taste for tourists and leaves wreckage in its path. Have you ever seen a slide-rock bolter? We want to hear your story! Text or leave us a voicemail with your name and neighborhood, and you might hear it on the show: 720-500-5418 Don't miss William T. Cox's original description of the Slide-Rock Bolter legend! Originally published in 1910, it's very short and fun. History Colorado is putting on an event in honor of the Slide-Rock Bolter on September 27. Tickets are still available for Creeporado: An Evening of the Strange and Unusual. With President Biden forcefully declaring that he isn't leaving the presidential race, the latest polling looks frightening. The Cook Political Report just released new polling averages showing Donald Trump leading Biden nationally by three points. FiveThirtyEight's averages also look grim. New swing state polls show Trump dominating. But Ron Klain, the former White House chief of staff to Biden, nonetheless maintains that Biden is still the Democrat with the best shot against Trump. We invited Klain on the show, and he fielded some hard questions while making an expansive case that Biden still has a path. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
