The last 2 years have been challenging for a lot of people, myself included. How do we cope when everything feels outside of our control? An important topic we wanted to bring up today. Human beings are wired for certainty. It is a fundamental human need. We like to feel safe and secure knowing that we have control of our lives. But with so much uncertainty in the world right now, I wanted to share some simple ways to stay calm in the unknown. 1. Acceptance over resistance. Practising acceptance during hard times is not easy; however, it is also the most effective way to move forward. From here, we can choose how we want to respond in a far more empowering way, instead of wishing the situation was different. 2. Prioritise self-care. Every day, do something that makes you feel good. Exercise, meditate, read, walk in nature, eat healthy foods.Health is the foundation of happiness. 3. Focus on what you can control. We can't always change the things around us, but we can choose how we respond. Make a list of all the things you can control each day, you will be surprised at just how much you can influence. 4. Give yourself grace Now is not the time to be criticising yourself. Instead, focus on what you have achieved each day and what you are proud of. I hope this helps you today. Kyle used to be the "hangriest" monster I knew... (thankfully, he has now got a lot better) We often hear people say that they seriously can't handle being hungry. In today's episode, we discuss 1 simple strategy that we can take to help us take back control of our hunger. We speak about fasting for an entire 24 hours. Please note that the fasting challenge isn't right for everyone. If you have a medical condition that requires you to eat, struggle with disordered eating, and have never been told to fast or know that small periods of food restriction can result in binge eating, please don't do this challenge. However, fasting for 24 hours can have major benefits if you have never done it before, including: If the food choices available to you at the moment don't make sense to you, you have the power to regain control and wait until something better is available. You learn to understand what true hunger feels like giving you the power to distinguish between psychological hunger and physiological hunger. The more we understand our own bodies, we can then regain the power and take back control and live the life we were destined to lead. Knowledge is power - this week I have been heavily researching and developing my knowledge around how anxiety and fear impact our immune system. Which, as we know, is one thing we want to try and be improving. According to the CDC (Centre of Disease Control), hypertension, disorders of lipid metabolism, obesity and anxiety disorders were the strongest risk factors for Covid-19 illness. Today I want to focus on anxiety disorders. From someone who struggled for many years with her own battles with anxiety, this is a topic that I am extremely passionate about. Firstly I have to apologise. Honest is one of my highest values, and I'm sorry for not putting out a Monday Morning Mindset Motivation this AM. I woke up, and I was feeling great completing my morning routine. However, during my walk this morning, I just felt off. The more people I started walking past, the more I felt this low vibration of energy. Having just been in lockdown for the last week, I could feel the stress and sadness coming off people. And I began to feel overwhelmed. It would have been hypocritical of me to record a motivational podcast this morning when I didn't feel it. However, after sitting with my feelings and emotions, I wanted to show up for you all today and let you know that it's ok not to be ok and some proactive steps I took to ensure my emotions weren't low for the entire day. In short... no, however, we both do recommend doing some form of movement every day. But let's define the word "workout", and what it means for you? Realistically we shouldn't be pushing our limits every single day because that's a sure-fire way to burn out or get injured very quickly. It's about conditioning.
