You might think you're eating healthy — but what if the story you tell yourself about your diet has nothing to do with your actual health?  In this episode, Ted breaks down one of the most common mistakes high achievers make when it comes to nutrition — believing that how "healthy" your food sounds is what determines your results. Using a viral debate comparing Big Macs to salmon, Ted explains why food stories and diet labels miss the real picture.  You'll learn why calories are still king, why excess body fat destroys your health regardless of how "clean" you eat, and what data actually matters — from body composition and visceral fat to fasting glucose, hemoglobin A1C, and cholesterol levels.  Ted also shares how two people can eat the same foods and have totally different health outcomes, and why the only way to know if your diet is working is to track objective data, not rely on beliefs or feelings.  In this episode, you'll learn:  What is the real relationship between calories, food quality, and health outcomes  Why being lean and active matters more than any specific diet  What your blood work reveals about your true metabolic health  How to use DEXA scans and lab tests to track your progress accurately  How to use data, not diet dogma, to optimize your health and performance  And much more...  If you're serious about living longer, performing better, and cutting through nutrition hype, this episode will show you how to stop guessing and start measuring what truly matters. Meet the older Australians riding waves and rowing rivers to stay fit and connected

From surfing the waves to paddling along the powerful Fitzroy River, people in Queensland, Australia are discovering creative ways to keep active as they grow older. While physical activity is key to maintaining good health, experts highlight that the social connections formed by exercising with friends are equally vital for overall well-being. Every week, the “Gold Coast Granny Grommets” meet to surf waves and age gracefully. “We've got a group of about five of us that come every week without fail and get in the cold water regardless of the temperature,” says surfer Caroline Holliday. Surfing in their sixties, they understand the benefit of being active. “I think you have to make it a priority every day. So, for me, I train every day in some way or other, and this is just a really good, fun way of doing it,” explains surfer Lesley Vick. “Having that connection is very, very important. It probably outweighs the physical, though that's really important too,” says Holliday. Beyond the clear physical advantages, researchers suggest that working out in a group can play a crucial role in encouraging older adults to maintain long-term activity and can also help prevent feelings of loneliness. “The social support and being with others increases our mood and our mental health as well. So, it ticks two boxes if you can get out, get active and get active with others,” says Dr. Stephanie Alley of Central Queensland University. These friends from Rockhampton have taken up rowing to stay fit in their sixties. “It's very hard to injure yourself, and as you get older, that's really important,” says rower Stuart Kininmonth. But for the Fitzroy Fossils, it's not just about staying physically fit. “The beauty of rowing in a boat, it's a team sport, so you get the opportunity to be with people, you're doing something that's a collective endeavor,” concludes rower Simon Irwin. It's back to school! DYRK is dedicating a special week to sport. Because moving and doing regular physical activity is important for our physical and mental health! Listen again to our episodes about sport! It's well known that we should all be doing half an hour of moderate physical activity every day. But sometimes our busy lifestyles make it difficult finding thirty consecutive minutes to do exercise. Sure, you could get up extra early in the morning, cut your lunch break short, or dig deep to find the needed energy and motivation for a post-work gym session. But a bitesized method called exercise snacking may be a simpler option when it comes to hitting your daily quota. Now obviously we're not talking about sweet or savoury snacks here; rather separating exercise into smaller chunks which are spread throughout the day. Is that really comparable to doing a full workout in one go? This week we talk about Team Red White and Blue! We hear how this organization helps veterans nationwide find warrior fellowship through running, hiking, rucking, premiere national race events and even obstacle challenges like Spartan Races and the Tough Mudder. Army Intel Officer and outgoing Team RWB founder, Lt. Col. Mike Erwin and Special Forces Col. (Ret.) Mike Sullivan discuss Team RWB's mission and their fascinating careers. Colonel “Sully” shares the athletic events planned in the coming year and we examine how these workouts replace the shallow digital connection with real life connections through running hiking and other national events. We also examine why physical training with buddies is crucial as veterans age. Find your fellow workout warriors with Team Red White and Blue and start training today: https://teamrwb.org/ SPECIAL VETERAN TRIBUTE: We recently learned of the passing of Army veteran Boone Cutler. Cutler was one of the most influential veteran authors and activists of our time. As a team leader with a Psychological Operations combat team on the deadly streets of Sadr City, Iraq, Cutler documented his experience and the associated trauma in the bestselling book “Voodoo in Sadr City”. After a mortar blast resulting in a TBI and other physical injuries sent him to Walter Reed he began the fight of his life. Based on his personal experience being overprescribed medications (to the point of overdose) Cutler shined a light on the VA's “Combat Cocktail” scandal in '07. He lobbied and forced a change in treatment which benefitted a generation of veterans. As GWOT combat vets revealed a troubling national suicide epidemic, Cutler again advocated for his fellow warfighters and founded the Spartan Pledge. This simple commitment helped prevent countless vets from taking their own life. We share audio from Cutler's gripping interviews we recorded over the years, and we salute this inspirational veteran warfighter, Boone Cutler. You can build the body you want and live a healthy lifestyle with a few simple changes, says Amadeo Aram, a sports and exercise professional, certified personal trainer, and online fitness coach who works with gay men all over the world to help them build the body they always have dreamed of. It's not complicated to achieve your goals, he emphasizes.  Born and raised in Berlin, Germany, Aram conducts trainings online with his “tribe” of gay men – his community of like-minded individuals who face many of the same struggles when it comes to body image and health. Aram got into the business of helping other gay men reach their fitness goals because he himself had his own struggles as a young man. He found working out in the gym helped him overcome his fears and shortcomings, boosted his self-esteem and made him feel good “in so many ways,” he says.  In this Smart Sex, Smart Love podcast, Aram talks about some of the biggest mistakes men (and women) make when setting fitness goals, how you can stay fit at any age, and why it never is too late to start a fitness routine. “It is not complicated or overwhelming when trying to stay in shape and healthy with the right routines, practices and habits,” he professes.

Traveling for work or pleasure can make it challenging to maintain your health and fitness routine. That's why in this Fitness Friday episode of the Habits and Hustle podcast, I talk with my friend Liron to give all of you the tips you need to stay fit while traveling.  We discuss the importance of planning ahead, packing your own healthy snacks, and making a commitment to stick to your fitness goals no matter where your travels take you. We share practical strategies to help you prioritize your well-being on the go. Liron Kayvan founded BFLA in 2019. He's a NASM Certified Group Fitness Instructor, Personal Trainer, and Transformative Life Coach. Liron has competed in Amateur MMA, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and Rugby and has been a Fitness Coach for over 10 years. What we discuss:  Bring your own healthy snacks and meals in your carry-on instead of relying on airline offerings Stay hydrated by drinking only water during the flight Get up and walk the aisles every hour to avoid being sedentary on long flights Maintain your normal fitness routine as much as possible while traveling  Take advantage of hotel gyms to fit in workouts Working out while traveling can actually boost mental performance and productivity  Visit grocery stores to stock up on healthy foods vs. always eating at restaurants Track food intake if you have specific weight loss or body composition goals Walk everywhere possible while traveling - to meetings, sightseeing, etc.  Make your non-negotiables for diet and exercise while traveling and commit to them Thank you to our sponsor: AquaTru: Get 20% off any purifier at aquatru.com with code HUSTLE Therasage: Head over to therasage.com and use code Be Bold for 15% off  TruNiagen: Head over to truniagen.com and use code HUSTLE20 to get $20 off any purchase over $100. Welcome to Boss Bitch Radio! In today's special episode, I'm joined by someone I talk about often but haven't yet had on the podcast—my boyfriend and partner-in-crime, Jack! We're diving deep into how couples can navigate health and fitness together, sharing what's worked for us as we've built healthier habits over time. From our first meeting (where I might've been driving a "roller skate" of a car) to Jack's inspiring 30-pound weight loss, we chat about how our lives and fitness journeys collided—despite initially having zero plans to date a bodybuilder! If you're in a relationship and trying to stay on track with your own health goals while supporting a partner who might not be on the same page, this episode is for you! #couplegoals #coupleswhotrain   KEY TAKEAWAYS: 00:00 Introduction to Today's Special Episode 00:46 Meeting Mr. Boston Jack 01:21 First Impressions and Early Relationship 02:06 Shared Passions and Career Paths 02:29 Challenges of Dating a Bodybuilder 04:13 Jack's Health and Fitness Journey 07:56 The Role of Diet in Weight Loss 14:30 Teamwork in Relationships 18:49 Intimacy and Confidence 22:11 Feeling Better Together 22:29 Sharing Responsibilities in a Relationship 23:53 Fitness and Motivation as a Couple 25:40 Walking and Talking: The Power of Communication 27:58 Health and Family History 29:52 Supporting Each Other's Health Goals 33:02 Looking Forward: Future Health and Fitness 39:47 The Importance of Diet and Connection 42:05 Conclusion and Final Thoughts   Links Mentioned: Don't forget to sign up for our Coffee with Coach: Goal Setting Workshop for FREE! https://www.bossbitchradio.com/coffee-with-coaches-free  – Sunday, January 5th at 10 a.m. PST Join the Boss Bitch Besties Fitness Community: https://www.facebook.com/groups/dianefloresifbbpro   Connect with Diane: Website: https://www.bossbitchradio.com/  Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/dianeflores_ifbb_pro  YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@dianeflores_ifbb_pro  Join the Boss Bitch Besties Fitness Community: https://www.facebook.com/groups/dianefloresifbbpro    Freebies: Plateau-Buster Guide: https://www.bossbitchradio.com/plateau-buster-guide  Protein Snack List: https://www.bossbitchradio.com/protein-snack-guide  Sleep Hacks: https://www.bossbitchradio.com/sleep-like-a-queen  Full Body Training Program: https://www.bossbitchradio.com/full-body-gym-program  5 Easy Tips to Stay Motivated: https://www.bossbitchradio.com/5-easy-tips-to-stay-motivated  Fit Girl Gift Guide: https://www.bossbitchradio.com/fit-girl-gift-guide  My Favorite Supplements: https://www.bossbitchradio.com/myfavoritesupplements  Show Day Packing List: https://www.bossbitchradio.com/show-day-packing-list    Work with Diane: Work that Booty, Bestie: Glute Goddess: FREE 7-Day Challenge My 12-Week Transformation Program: The Goddess Body Project   Fuel Your Body with the Goods: Try Meal Prep Delivery with FitKitchen Code: Diane10  Try this Energy Shot from Magic Mind - Code: BBRadio Fave Boss Bitch Protein Bars - Built Bars *Use Promo Code: “Diane” at check out Cured Nutrition Code: BossBitch saves 20% off first order Nutrishop Supplement Shop - Code: BossBitch (free shipping)
