This podcast covers the deeper stuff on life’s journey; the things we have to face everyday that the world doesn’t really like to address. Listen as Meredith gives you the chance to tune into God’s voice in ways you never expected. She’ll help you notice just how much He is present in your life, how much He is for you and how much He wants to give you life. She wants to empower you as a child of God to be strong in spirit and trustworthy of the Father. It’s about growing up with God, learning to lean on him and finding new ways of relating that bring you into a relationship with Jesus rather than just religion.
Mountains, we all have them in our life. We don't want them. But, they are part of what helps us grow spiritually… This is the last episode of the summer season and we are talking about the mountains in our lives and how we climb them. What are the mountains in your life? What is your approach toward the mountains? Is it, “Why is this mountain here?” or is it, “Okay, it's here. Now what am I going to learn climbing this.” Even more important, who am I going to help because I climbed it? Listen as I get real about some of the mountains I'm facing in my life right now, and help you learn how to approach yours. We can get so focused on reaching the mountaintop that we don't realize we learn the most in the climb and in the valleys. We are talking today about the conch shell and how God used one on the beach in my early recovery to help me learn how to tune into His Voice. I think there are many women, especially Millennials and younger who want to know how to connect to God but don't want to do it in the religion or ways they were shown growing up. They want something personal. I believe, they want a relationship and to do that, you need to learn how to tune into God's voice. So this week I'm going to share about how God started to do that with this conch shell and I'm praying, that some of you use this podcast to seek that deeper relationship with the Lord. SCRIPTURE “The Lord God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.” Zephaniah 3:17 “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.” Matthew 7:7 John 10 “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” - John 14:6 “For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Messiah,' and will deceive many.” Matthew 24:5 “The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul.” Psalm 23:1-3 RESOURCES Definition of Ambient noise: https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/ambient Relevant Magazine article, “New Studies Reveal Americans' Spiritual Beliefs Are Radically Changing.” July 24, 2023: https://relevantmagazine.com/faith/church/new-studies-reveal-americans-spiritual-beliefs-are-radically-changing/ NEWS There is only one more episode left of this season of Guiding God's Daughters. Description We're talking this week about how the pearl is formed in the oyster shell and it may not be how you expect. We're going to talk about outside irritants in our lives, how we respond to the bad things that happen to us, how we can form our own protective layers that keep God from healing us and then about how this isn't just about us but it's about the Kingdom of God. This week, I'm talking about one of my favorite rocks to find on Lake Michigan - the heart rock. Not only that - big and small rocks and broken rocks. It's amazing how often they can look like our hearts, and I believe Scripture has some truth to say about that. So many people today have the hearts hardened to the Lord, but it's evidence to me that there is a need for those who are willing and wanting for God to soften their hearts. Then we go into storing up treasures here on earth versus heaven and addressing clutter. I want to help your heart get ready for your next step. SCRIPTURE Ezekiel 36:26 Psalm 34:18 Matthew 6:19-20 NLT Matthew 6:21 NLT Matthew 19:21 NIV REFERENCE “How do we pursue treasure in Heaven?” https://seedtime.com/storing-up-treasure-in-heaven/ MAKE SURE YOU Share this with a friend. I'm talking this week about how spending time with the Lord and resting in Him, really is the one cure for all of our anxieties. I deliver this from vacation in Northern Michigan where I'm “resting” and sharing the things that have made it kinda hard to get that rest in the Lord. It's real life. We want to rest in the Lord but there are things that make it hard, which is why we all needed to be reminded of how much we need His grace. Listen in for some encouragement. Verses Psalm 37:7-8 Psalm 91:1 Psalm 91:2 Psalm 46:1-3 Romans 8:35-39
This week I'm talking about the 4 things you think give you freedom but actually do the opposite. There are ways the enemy deceives us into thinking we have ultimate freedom in things of the world. I want you to be aware of those things so God can lift you out of the deception and intro His truth.Through wisdom from experience and the Word of God, I want to share those four fake freedoms -- from my White House experience, to self-seeking in recovery, to seeking it in weight-loss and eating whatever I want, I want to share with you the things I thought would give me freedom but didn't. Scripture 2 Corinthians 3:14-18 John 8:31-32 1 Timothy 4:1-2, 3-4 1 John 4:1-6 1 Timothy 4:6-10 1 Corinthians 6:12 Galatians 5:13-14 My Book is called, "How to Let Go of Your Food and Weight Obsession: A Guide for the Woman who Wants More for Her Life."https://www.amazon.com/How-Let-Go-Weight-Obsession/dp/1949856658/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=how+to+let+go+of+your+obsession+with+food+and+weight&qid=1688088424&sr=8-1
This week, I'm talking about what God does to make the broken beautiful. Life is messy. Instagram isn't everyday reality. Things break. We break. We don't have to pretend we have it all together because the truth is, it's not being flawless that makes us beautiful. If we bring our brokenness to the Lord he will redeem it and display his glory through the cracks to a broken world. I want you to know the difference between God's voice and the devil's voice when you go through something that breaks you. You do not have to be the victim of it forever. I know the Lord wants you to shine your light, even while the enemy tries to get you to hide it. In the church, sometimes women think looking like they have it all together is more important than being vulnerable. I will reference in Scripture: The Potter's house in Jeremiah 18:3-6 Genesis 15:20 Psalm 34:18 2 Corinthians 4:6-7 2 Corinthians 12:9 Matthew 5:15 Quotes “My brokenness is a better bridge for people than my pretend wholeness ever was.” - Sheila Walsh “Our life is full of brokenness - broken relationships, broken promises, broken expectations. How can we live with that brokenness without becoming bitter and resentful except by returning again and again to God's faithful presence in our lives.” - Henri Nouwen “Brokenness is the bow from which God launches the arrow of healing.” - Louie Giglio Book Resource “Organic Mentoring: A Mentor's Guide to Relationships with Next Generation Women.” by Sue Edwards and Barbara Neumann https://www.amazon.com/Organic-Mentoring-Mentors-Relationships-Generation/dp/0825443334 Working with Me If you're interested in my personal mentoring, I have a few slots. In the Podcast this week, my goal is to help you see how God's love can fill in every gap in your heart that your father couldn't fill. No father is perfect, and we aren't going to spend our time talking about bad fathers. We're going to spend our time helping you see how your earthly father is different from your heavenly Father. My goal is to help you heal from whatever hurt is in your heart around this relationship. My prayer is that you let God enter into that wound, where you may have blocked him out because of your earthly father and let him heal you. I'm praying this helps you to come to know the humaneness of your father and come to accept him as he is. We talk about the fear of addressing the father wound and what happens when you feel like God has failed you.
We're talking about how anxieties and fears can keep us from soaring and how to step out even through the fear. 15 years ago this past week, I celebrated my 31st birthday in treatment and I remember my therapist telling me the day I was leaving, “Are you ready to leave the nest?” I was terrified, yet totally ready to start testing my wing strength. My question for you is - how much power are we giving to our fears? Do you realize how much God is there to help? I want to help you get clear on that. Watch as I also talk about my own fear of flying and how the Lord has given me tools to help me address that, AND how I deal with my anxiety. We're going to tackle: What are the things that weigh you down? That keep you thinking your wings are rusted. This goes for moms who are also trying to navigate the world while trying to raise your child in Christ. It's not easy to stand up for the truth. We need courage to soar!
Have you ever felt like you want to bloom, but you can't quite get there? Maybe you are one of those people who just want to be anywhere but where you are. You want to get away so you can escape your problems where you are. But here's the thing. Everywhere you go, there you are. You've got to learn how to bloom where you are planted in order to actually bloom. That means sit still and deal with your feelings and issues. Yes, I know it can be no fun. But it's worth it. If this is you, I want to encourage you. I want to help you see just how it may be just the right time for you to bloom and what you can do about it.
Do you know if you have bitter roots? It's hard to tell if you've not addressed them. You have a choice in how to respond to them when they return. You can say, "Oh no, not again," or you can say, "Okay, this keeps coming up. I'm going to deal with it." That's what I want to help you do this week. I want to help you look at these bitter roots and deal with them so you can heal. Why? Because I don't believe God wants you to hold onto them and just let them rot your life. They are weeds you've got to pull up from the root. Watch this week as I talk about 5 different types of roots you have that may be keeping you from healing. Let's go through them with God's help. I'll share lots of Scripture to encourage you and a bit about what God has done to help me pull these weeds out by their roots!
Have you ever found yourself putting God in a box? You know - somewhere out of the way because you want to work your plan? I get it and I've been there. I thought God was in a box of “up there, not down here” and I had no idea how to get Him out. That is, until he rescued me from the pit. I want to share with you today the 5 boxes that I've struggled with (and I bet you have too) that made me think I was in control but I wasn't. Somehow these things made me think I would find freedom if I could just get them how I wanted them. But I didn't. What I want to do today is help you identify what those boxes are so you can get free of them and see what God has planned for you that is so much better.
It's funny what happens when you do a podcast on how God pivots you and he pivots you 5 times before you are supposed to go live! The enemy can use things against us. But God can turn it around for good! I want to tell you about a few pivots the Lord did in my life so you can see how God might be doing them in your life!! Seek the Lord instead of your heart! He's going to surprise you when it's not part of your plan!! Listen to what God did through someone I didn't expect when he pivoted me recently! Listen in for my challenge to you this week in noticing how God might be pivoting you! Finally - a post-Mother's Day note for these women - the ones who think you aren't a good enough Mom, for the ones who have a great relationship with your mom and for the ones who don't, for the stepmoms, for the ones who want to be a mom and the ones who are grieving the loss of your mom.
This is the Welcome video for Season #2 of Guiding God's Daughters. It's just a quick message to welcome all of you from Pulse FM and any new listeners!
The journey of infertility is a very difficult one that not many people feel okay talking about freely because it's so personal. This episode is in honor of National Infertility Awareness Week. It's dedicated to every woman who is in this season and every one who's ever been through it. You are a warrior. The first part of this video is a testimony of what God did in our life as we navigated the infertility journey and the second is my top 6 tips for navigating the season that helped me. I pray they help you and you share them every time you hear a loved one going through this - pass it on and give them hope. #reproductivehealth #creightonmethod #endometriosis #endometriosisawareness #naturalfamilyplanning #infertility #laproscopic #gettotheroot #ivf #fertilitytreatment #ivfsuccess #infertilitysucks #ivfjournney #ttccommunity #ttc #comparison #griefjourney #identityinchrist
This week, I have a very special guest. Her name is Becky Savage. She is nationally known as the Founder of the 525 Foundation. Her non-profit was created to honor her two sons that passed away on June 14, 2015 from unintentional overdose after going to graduation parties. You can find videos of their story, interviews, speeches and news coverage here. She lives right here in Northern Indiana and we first met seven years ago, actually the first time she spoke publicly about it. Their foundation has a simple mission: to educate teens and families and raise awareness about the dangers of alcohol and prescription drug misuse and abuse. What happened to her is what no one expects happen in their community, let alone their own home. A tragedy to say the least. But in the wake of her immense loss, she has become a beacon of light in our area and other communities. She has taken what life handed her and has used it for good. Listen to this week's interview and find out: what happened how she got through her grief (and continues to) how the foundation got started How our kids get a hold of the drugs how we can talk them about opioids and binge drinking This was a very real conversation that will make you want to have real conversations with your loved ones. You don't want to miss it. If you've got kids who are smoking marijuana (and they think you know it or not), or binge drink on college campuses - you will want to listen to this. Even if you are one of those young people who is partaking in any of it, I recommend listening so you can get a very realistic perspective of what could happen. I appreciate Becky's candidness in this interview and her willingness to show up to honor her two boys, to love on her two boys who are still here, and to be an example to the rest of us of what we can do when this kind of thing happens in our community, or our family. 300 people a day means it will come pretty close. So don't miss this. I pray it blesses you and that you pass it along to everyone you know because it's incredibly important for our next generation.
This is a word from the Lord that came on my way home from the Able Moms conference in Chicago this past weekend, March 4th. It's a reminder for young women - in your 20s and early 30s, and really any woman to remember who you are and what God can do for you and tell you why what you see on my highlight reel didn't come easily. I fought hard for it, and only got it because I ran back to God and leaned on him through ALL of it and continue to today. I want this to encourage you and meet you wherever you are, to remind you that God has a good plan for your life.
We're in week two of Lent and every year this passage from Psalm 51:10 comes up for many of us. “Create in me a clean heart, oh God, and renew a right spirit within me.” ESV The question is, what does that really mean? How can you go deeper with it? What might be blocking you from allowing the Lord to clear your heart? Are you willing to open your heart to the Lord? To look honestly at what's going on with it? Take a listen this week and hear how you can.
There is a move of God happening in our nation. We're seeing it as Asbury and even other places now. It also just so happens to be the beginning of lent - the time when Christians take the time to go deeper with the Lord before Easter. Are you wanting to grow spiritually? Listen to this week's episode as I talk about how God is moving not just on these college campuses but also how he showed up at the Super Bowl in players and advertisements. You will hear some interesting recent research by Barna about how more people thank you think in our nation want to grow spiritually. I pray this episode gives you wisdom about how you want to respond to this move of God and whether or not you want to choose to remain in the darkness or live in the light.
We've all been rejected in some way in our lives. Yes, I'm talking about this on the love holiday because I like to get real and this is something that can block us from the love of God and life, really. If we're not careful it can keep us consumed with feelings and thoughts that hold us back and eventually it becomes our identity. I want to help you get to the root of that and release it to God.
Do you have a mentor in your life? I'm not talking about career mentors, I'm talking about spiritual mentors. Yes, women who come alongside you right in the middle of whatever season you are in and help you walk through things. They have often lived through very similar things and have had seasons of life change them and give them wisdom. But most importantly - they found a way to lean on the Lord and because of that, they can help point you to Him. Listen to this weeks podcast as I interview my friend Janet Thompson who has helped train hundreds of women on how to be and find mentors in the church. She built a program at Saddleback Church in California years ago that is still used today. But that's not all. She's written multiple other books on various seasons of life including infertility, cancer and even what to do when your husband retires or stays home and is in your space. She shares what she's lived through and even what others have been through in her books. I think you'll enjoy it. I pray it blesses you and makes you more intentional about finding a mentor or finding someone you can mentor in your life or church.
You will want to hear/watch this interview. God connected us and it's for a reason. Amanda is a mom who is the CEO of the organization Able Moms and she's got quite a testimony. From her personal experience in a grocery store with her 3 year old daughter in a grocery store, she's become a fierce advocate to fight child trafficking. But that wasn't all. Her son drowned (and lived). Her home burned down shortly after Christmas and then had a miscarriage. She's been through some serious battles and learned to not just know of Jesus but KNOW Jesus through those seasons. Did you know lack of strong families relationships are a key factor in making a child be a good candidate for trafficicking? Crazy. Able Moms is about this, AND so much more. Check them out at www.ablemoms.org. Their conference is March 4th and they will get any Mom a ticket who can't afford it. You can also find Amanda at www.amandaflo.com and her book on her website or Amazon. It's called: “Unraveled: Mothering Fiercly in a World Full of Fears.
This week we're talking about having a firm foundation and how roots can affect a foundation. You have to choose, am I going to seek the Lord and learn how to walk in step with the Spirit? Or am I going to walk in step with the wicked. You have to decide. Am I going to surrender my life to Christ and let Him build what I can't build by myself? Do you know how a tree's roots can permeate a house and mess up the foundation? Have you looked at the roots in your life? Are there bitter ones? Are there past hurts? Is there trauma you haven't addressed? This message is about doing an assessment of the foundation of your life. How steady is it? Have you built it on the firm foundation? or on sand. Are you willing to let the Lord dig out the roots and stuff under the foundation so it can become stronger? By the way, it's not about the roots themselves, it's about the soil responds to it. It's not about what happened, it's about how you responded to it - and that's what you need to address. Are you ready?
This is Part II of a special podcast for March for Life week. This second part is devoted to Lacy's daughter, Mary Logan who is an absolute FORCE in the pro-life movement already, at a very young age. You've got to hear her story and how beautiful it is to see God use her simply because her mom chose life. To listen with her mom present is just beautiful. I pray both of these podcasts bless you as much as they blessed me. God is so good and faithful. I pray whoever needs to hear this, gets to hear it. To God be the glory.
This is Part I of a very special podcast for March for Life week. My friend Lacy Miske (formerly Dodd) was a classmate at Notre Dame. We reconnected back in 2019 over baby products when we were both expecting. But the Lord has just been keeping us connected over conservative values and love for ND and our country. She served in the military upon graduation while I served in the White House. I knew of her story, getting pregnant senior year at ND, but I didn't know the real story and I wanted her to tell it. This was all God and His timing. Little did I know until about two days before the interview was - this was the first time both her and her daughter would be sharing their story together publicly. Friends, I am humbled and honored to have hosted these two amazing women. You have to hear the story - and this - is just Part 1 with Lacy. I pray both of these podcasts bless you as much as they blessed me. God is so good and faithful. I pray whoever needs to hear this, gets to hear it. To God be the glory.
I know how easy it is to want to jump on the weight-loss train at the start of the new year. But I want to challenge you to pivot. If you know in the back of your mind that you are going to start this and not stick with it, maybe it's time to realize something. Maybe that annual diet only fixes the outside and that's why it doesn't stick. Maybe you are supposed to get better from the inside out and maybe God wants to help you do that. Listen this week as you consider your new year's resolutions to hear what I'm talking about.

Christmas is such a beautiful season. We get to celebrate Jesus' birth and see our families to make new memories. Joy is overflowing. But in the midst of that, we can also have deep pain. Maybe we're grieving the loss of a loved one, or one who is distant or just a difficult season in life. It's bittersweet, because in the midst of our pain, we have this joy in Christ. We have this hope. I don't want you to miss what this season is all about. All of that pain is exactly why Jesus was born in a manger. I just want to remind you if you are in the midst of pain, even it's hard to feel joy, you can have hope. Merry Christmas.
I'm so excited to bring you this interview. Erin is an author of over 15 books and is a major part of Revive Our Hearts Ministries where she leads Bible Studies and hosts a podcast called, "The Deep Well." I loved this interview. If you are ready to just get right to some of these major things we all struggle with around food and weight, you've got to give this one a listen. We cover some of meatiest topics: - what fasting means to us, - how the Lord is the one who satisfies us more than any food, - scarcity, - the bad fruit of sin that's in our lives that is the real issue in our hearts, - and, how could we not do - shame around food. So much good stuff and all just centered around our Savior. Just a beautiful conversation I'm sure I'll return to again and again too! So make sure you check it out!
Do you struggle with post-Thanksgiving guilt about what you ate? Are you trying to manage the stress of the holidays and turning to the food to cope? Sometimes when turn to the food, we're trying to control what we can't and we just have to rely on the only one who can give us the comfort we need. Watch or listen this week as I briefly talk about how God is with you in that place. Then you'll hear a testimony from Kara Frost on her struggles with how food restriction affected her health and how she realized leaning into Jesus was the better path for healing. Also - we have merch now! Head over to our instagram at @getrealwithmeredith to find out more details or to place your order!
This is a message for Christians disheartened by the 22 Midterm elections. There is no better time than Thanksgiving approaching to remind us of where our only true hope lies. Having worked in politics at the White House, I can tell you what I found out - it's never been Washington where your answers will be found. It's in Jesus. If your expectations were set on God fixing things with the elections, maybe it's time to shift your focus. Maybe He wants to do something different in you, to take you deeper - or, take others deeper with Him. We don't know His plans. We just have to trust that they are good, and greater than anything we could imagine, or even the enemy could plan. Watch or listen this week as we study why Christ in us is the hope of glory, how Jonah lived a lesson we can learn from, and a little bit of history - to learn what you may have in common with those who were at the first Thanksgiving.
This is my Heart for America. I feel the Lord calling me because of my background in politics to encourage you to vote on November 8th. So, when we're in our twenties, many of us don't really care about elections. I know I didn't. But when you look at the issues at stake, our vote does matter. That's why it's so important to grow up and vote. Watch and listen this week as I talk about why making informed decisions about what you believe and voting for them is an important part of growing up. I'll talk a little about my perspective on the country now as someone out of politics and remind you why God is such an important part of it all. Then I'll give you an example of what's going on in our state of Michigan on Election Day with something called Proposition 3 backed by some insights on the teen brain. If we'll let every individual make decisions about abortion, then we're telling teens and younger that they can handle it. They cannot. So watch/listen. Get informed. Use your voice. Get out and vote.
This week we are talking about that temptation that is staring you in the face this time of year - that Halloween candy. As it sits there and tempts you in bite sizes, you think you can handle just one. But not all of us can do that. Join me as we get real about what may or not be a sugar issue for you, and let me help you lean on the one who can help you deal with it. Hint: It's not you alone or your willpower. If you struggle with overeating the sweets from now until the holidays, you may want to check this one out.
This is for my older listeners and younger ones. For the older ones who may have children you are trying to raise and point toward Godly influencers. For the younger ones, I'll give you some direction on how to actually find these Godly role models we're talking about. But the beginning will be focused on where some of us as older women get our insights. We read Christian books, and some of them we're finding aren't lining up with our values. I want to help you address that issue that tugs at our hearts and help you navigate how to find and be the Godly role model we're called to be.
This week is all about how to find Godly mentors in this crazy world. Women have all kinds of influencers vying for attention and many of them are just not beneficial. That's why my assistant Kara and I did this podcast, because we want to help you. We want to reveal who some of the unhealthy ones are so you can see who the healthy ones are and why it's really a battle between the flesh and the spirit. Join us as we navigate the women who are so influential in our culture and try to find the healthy role models.
This week's podcast is all about how even though sometimes we feel like we can't see the forest through the trees, God can. Listen as we discuss various life examples and great Biblical insight on the power of God's right hand, his plan for those who love Him and the trust we can have in Him while we remain in that season. The leaves will fall and reveal to us what's on the other side. But we've got to trust God knows even when we don't.
This week's podcast is all about scars. We all have scars, whether they are inside or out and I believe God doesn't want us to try to hide them or fix them ourselves, but to turn them over to Him so he can heal them in His time. Watch, as we talk about how God can make your scars beautiful and learn how he pours gold into each one of your cracks, to make you shine bright for Him.
In this first episode as Guiding God's Daughters, we are doing just what it says in the subtitle: Getting Real and Going Deep. I'll tell you why I decided to change the name and why the posture of your heart is so much more important to God than your highlight reel. We'll talk about some of the craziness going on in the world. I'll also give you specific examples from my life - i.e. my messy pantry - of how God works on my heart. We aren't comfortable with the uncomfortable but God is just fine when life is messy, because He's with us in all of it.
Well, we are a little less than ONE WEEK from the book launch next Tuesday (September 6th). Woot woot! I'm so excited for you to hear this one. My friend Sherry Hoppen is a fellow author who I met at a writers conference and we just clicked. She's one of those people you know, you get around and you can't stop laughing together? Anyway, we had a great conversation about the connection between alcohol and food as recovering addicts. Sherry's book is called, "Sober Cycle: Pedaling Through Recovery One Day at a Time," about her recovery from alcoholism as a Christian woman. NOTE: This is the last episode of this interview series before the book launch AND the last episode as "Tune in with Meredith." I've been saying it for a while, but we are finally moving into "Guiding God's Daughters: Get Real and Go Deep." I can't wait to bring you new episodes and tell you more about why I made this decision to change the brand. Sherry's interview comes on the last day of August for a reason. September is National Recovery Month and we are both advocates for choosing recovery. So I hope you'll listen AND we decided to do a Zoom workshop before the holidays called, "Navigating the Holidays Around Alcohol and Food as a Recovering Addict." Make sure you follow me or subscribe to my newsletter to find out more about that.
Hello my friends! We are still in the series with experts on food addiction and treating mental health. THIS week I have the pleasure of introducing you to a very dear friend of mine. Marla Godette, who is a counselor, mentor and mental health advocate in our community of Michiana. She is a very special, radiant woman of God and I just love her. But I also love watching her live out God's call on her life to break the curse of mental illness and fight the stigma with her #silentnomore movement. We had a great talk about how food issues can be rooted in trauma and the connection between them. I think you'll enjoy it. So take a listen! If you need help, or you know of a loved one who is struggling, please share! Suicide Help Line to Call: 1-800-273-TALK (8255) Suicide Help Line to Text: #741741
Okay, this week's podcast is an interview with my incredible friend Joan Ifland. When I think food addiction science and research, I think Joan. She is a wealth of knowledge and has done so much to raise awareness for food addiction, it's incredible. Not just that, she now has a community online of people who want to finally address why they are eating instead of going on another diet. I hope you'll listen because this woman has just so much to share and teach. I promise you will learn a LOT!
I'm so excited about this week's podcast. This expert is very special to me because Dr. Marty Lerner is the one who picked up the phone when I was ready to go to treatment for my addictions. He runs Milestones in Recovery Treatment center in Florida and he has influenced my life in so many ways. I learned a lot of good stuff from him in my time at Milestones that I still carry with me to this day. So today, you get to hear about some of it. I hope it educates you and opens up your mind to what is possible for addressing food addiction.
Hey everyone, I'm so excited to bring you the interview series I did earlier this year with some awesome professionals in the food addiction field that I just love. They've helped me in many ways and I just wanted you to hear it from them. I keep saying, "They are the experts. I'm just the guide." This week's guest is Theresa Wright. She is a dietician and nutritionist who works with those of us who struggle with food addictions. As Founder of the Renaissance Nutrition Center, Inc. she's developed a ground-breaking gentle, sensible and evidence-based program of recovery from self-destructive eating that's been changing lives for nearly 30 years. There's so much to her experience but what I love the most is that she has written a personal guide for building your food plan (something I talk about in my book) called, "Your Personal Food Plan Guide." She's also authored three volumes of the cookbook Delicious Recovery, that I still need to get my hands on. When I think of food plans, I think of Theresa. So I want you to hear from her more of what they're all about. So, here you go. I hope you enjoy it. Also, my book officially comes out on September 6th but you can get on Amazon.com or my website to pre-buy it. Just click https://meredithterpeluk.com/2930-2/ . Make sure you keep your ears open and eyes peeled too because we are relaunching the Podcast name on September 17th to be "Guiding God's Daughters: Get Real and Go Deep."
What's up folks!? So this headline is probably not an easy one to read but I think every year around this time as we celebrate dads, some of us struggle with the ways our dads have hurt us or failed us and let's face it, none of our dads are perfect. My Dad was amazing and my hero and I loved him with every fiber of my being but I'm well aware that he had his flaws. I'm also aware that I had to work through the brokenness that was between us after he left when I was 8. Our relationship stayed strong even with the distance. But not having him there in the everyday definitely left a wound that I tried to fix with things like food, alcohol and men. It was one of the things I had to address when I finally faced my demons and got into recovery. It wasn't a "check the box" thing. It was just part of what was revealed as I started to heal and I'm so grateful we were able to work through some of the hurts before he died. I'm even more grateful that when He died, what I didn't know was that by bringing me closer to Him the Lord was preparing me for his sudden death. Today I don't live with regrets around our relationship. I don't feel like there were things unsaid, even though I didn't get to say goodbye. I'm just grateful I know that wherever my father doesn't fill in the gaps - my heavenly Father does. What I want for you with this podcast is to start to address those wounds. Small, big, old, new, whatever they are - they are probably there and I do believe the Lord wants you to bring them to Him so He can heal them. I pray this week's podcast brings you some clarity and some sense that the Lord wants what is best for you in this area of your life.
We are in a battle of good versus evil and it's one that can't just be fought with policy change. It has to be fought in our hearts because that's where the battle begins. Our country has a heart problem and that's where we need to start. Watch/listen as we discuss why Washington doesn't have the answers to this and what we can do to work on our own hearts.
It doesn't matter if it's you, or your kids, the enemy is working hard in the world to hijack you and your family emotionally. At the same time, it's telling you to let your life be led by those emotions. Then we wonder why people are lost in their identities when the world is really leading them away from their true identity in Christ - based on how they feel. Your emotions are an important part of how God created you to be. But they should not be running the show. Watch this video and find out why the Easter message carries way beyond the holiday. You have to know that you can approach the throne of grace with confidence and why your degree doesn't matter when it comes to Godly wisdom.Listen in as I point out many ways the world is distracting us and why we all need to just get back to the one who knows our hearts better than anyone else. You aren't going to hear any of this out there in the regular media, which is why it's such an important message. Don't miss it.
The way the world is today, we as parents of today and future parents, need to be awake and aware of how our kids are being targeted for propaganda. Listen as I discuss different ways the enemy is attacking multiple generations in our world and listen to some scripture to help you fight in the spiritual battle.
The women who were standing next to the Founding Fathers at the birth of our nation and the women on the frontlines of the Ukrainian war are an inspiration. There is an anti-men, all women messaging going on in the mainstream media and why you need to be awake and aware. Your battle for control of food and weight is a Spiritual one. Let's talk about it.
