This week on ‘Work Hates' we talk to comedian, ex-radio host and national icon, Sammy J! He is a household name who is arguably the most loveable man on the planet, so he took us through some chapters of his life that shocked us. For example, the time he worked in a store where is was made to feel invisible, or the time he was a teenager and an established performer told him to “f**k off”. Sammy is a gifted storyteller, so everything he brought to the podcast was gripping and we left this conversation better people. We absolutely loved this chat with Sammy J, so treat yourself and enjoy this episode of ‘Work Hates'! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

In this episode of Higher Exchanges, we sit down with Sammy J, VP of Corporate Development at C21 Investments, to discuss the state of the cannabis industry four years into the Great Cannabis Drawdown. Sammy shares his insights on the key factors behind the market's decline, including revenue drops, margin erosion, and overspending on growth. We explore the potential catalysts for recovery, from value-driven opportunities to possible regulatory shifts with S3, SAFER banking, and the BSF lawsuit. Sammy also breaks down what investors should own when the next bull market hits—reform dependents vs. independents—and how the path to industry recovery may look different from past cycles.Whether you're an investor, operator, or industry watcher, this episode offers an in-depth look at what's next for cannabis.
Sammy chats to Jof about his upcoming Australian tour of 'The Kangaroo Effect'. For all tickets and more information visit https://www.sammy-j.com/
From the get-go, you need to know there was NO other option than putting a bunch of poisonous snakes on a plane, time releasing them and amping them up with some pheromones. Is Eddie Kim (Byron Lawson) the Joker? Neville Flynn (Samule L. Jackson) is doing his best to protect his key witness, Sean (Nathan Phillips), from these slithering, fanged horrors. Claire (Julianna Margulies) wants to survive her last day at work. The MVP is Troy (Kenan Thompson)! We have a feeling he's going to get us to L.A. If you're a passenger not playing games, eating snacks or becoming a member of the Mile High Club, take a nap – it will be your last. RTS just avoids getting on the plane altogether. They hang tight in the control tower with cool drinks in snake-free locations. La-Mar and Jeremy taze snakes and air-blast them out the windows. Sammy J has had it with these snakes and this plane – and something about someone's mom.
Sammy J (Ricketts Lane, ABC Melbourne Breakfast) joins me to discuss knowing each other for 21 years, having your Holy Grail smashed, and wanting to be the best parent he can possibly be.Go see Sammy on his national tour, The Kangaroo Effect, tickets at sammy-j.com/And support Four Burners by joining the Patreon. Fan Mail Me BrrrruuuuunnndenEver attempted to record a podcast at a pizza joint and ended up with a story more memorable than the pizza itself? That's precisely how we kicked off our one-year anniversary celebration of "Sockeytome." As we recount our technologically challenged attempt at Sally's Apizza in New Haven, you'll laugh along with us at the fictional firing of our tech adviser, Greg, and relive some of the podcast's most memorable moments—from personal adventures in colonoscopy land to narrowly avoiding runaway trailer chaos. Our international audience continues to grow, with listeners from Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Germany, proving that laughter truly knows no borders.Shifting gears, we bravely step into the world of video podcasting, leaving our "faces made for radio" exposed to the world. Through humorous banter about our mutual friend Greg—who just can't seem to catch a break—we confront the challenges and excitement of this new medium. As we share our grooming tips and anxiously anticipate listener feedback, we reflect on the evolution from audio-only days and the changing landscape of podcasts.Of course, no celebration is complete without pizza talk! We fondly remember mix-ups with our beloved Greg and Craig, and laugh about Sammy J's boyfriend mistakenly being called Jason instead of James. We shout out to loyal listeners like Sammy J and Uncle Dan, while passionately debating our favorite local pizza spots like Sally's, Pepe's, and Modern. With plans for future pizza pilgrimages, we eagerly look forward to another year of culinary escapades and podcasting fun.Support the showCome back every Tuesday for a new episode each week. You won't be dissappointed, I'll tell you that for free. Subscribe and like us over at sockeytome.com as we begin the best part of our journey into podcasting yet, interacting with all of you. Give us your email as we begin to have more promotions and contests along with my personal favorite, trivia. Thanks everyone and as always, be good.

Nick and Mark are amped over last weeks Cam Smith news that he will be playing the NSW Open at Murray Downs in November, so much so that we start the show by calling Golf NSW COO Graeme Phillipson to ask him how it happened, and how Golf NSW pulled off such a fantastic get. Great chat, and some fantastic insights into the process, and what it now means for the NSW Open.We discuss the Fedex Cup final round, and the win (sort of) by Scottie Scheffler. Mark is annoyed that one of the commentators described it as a wire to wire win when it clearly wasn't, Nick agrees. We discuss if it counts as a win given the way the final was structured. And Nick talks through Scheffler's shank in the final round. And we talk about the Sahith Theegala incident in the bunker and the self-reporting that cost him a lazy 2.5 million.Nick starts telling us about an unfortunate incident he had in Abu Dhabi where he self-reported, which is interrupted when the hotline rings, and it's Talk Birdie Wolfpack member Sammy J from Melbourne who has a couple of comments on women's golf participation, and diversity more broadly in golf. He makes some excellent points, and then undoes all his good work by telling us a joke that he thinks Marko will enjoy. Mark does, Nick and Dan do not.Back to Nick's Abu Dhabi story, and then Mark tells a cracker about Craig Parry and Nick Faldo playing in Bali. It's very funny, although not for Sir Nick who was leading by a boatload when disaster struck, courtesy of Craig Parry. After the turn, Nick gives us a great Scottie Scheffler stat. Then, thanks to our mates at Southern Golf Club, Mark lists his Top 5 weird stuff in the golf swings of some champions. Nick has watched the Lee Trevino documentary at the weekend, Mark is horrified that Nick was out of the lounge room making a coffee and missed the best part!A fun story about PING's Bubba Watson from Nick, and Mark talks about the 'flags' at Augusta. Lots to run through in the PING Global results from Nick, and Nick names what hole at what course is the hardest tee shot in the world of golf.As usual plenty of feedback to run through, so much so that we run out of time, so we'll drop back later this week and do another Q&A bonus pod.And thanks to the new watchMynumbers app, download from the App Store or Google Play, Nicks masterclass today is on spinning the ball on your wedge shots.A big thanks to our great Talk Birdie partners:PING will help you play your best, like they have for Nick O'Hern. As we hit record, the official trailer for S02 of “And Just Like That” (aka the Sex and the City reboot) has dropped. Do we care? Of course we do. Sammy J captures the complexities of farewelling the comic who said some crook stuff in his final years.
