The question is: Will it have an effect? Those are the questions Spectrum News 13's Ybeth Bruzual puts to Sarah Emmons, regional director for the Anti-Defamation League, and Olivia Babis, senior public policy analyst for Disability Rights Florida, on this week's Central Florida: Beyond the Soundbite. Why has the horror of a hate crime—just disappear from the headlines—even when 6 people are murdered and 60 more are wounded—is it the wrong narrative for the news folks? THREE— More bad polls are piling up on President Joe Biden—as his administration is headed toward being obsolete—long before we reach the first anniversary of him in office— His gaffes are a daily event—his refusal to answer real or sustained questions and the clear appearance that he is not in command of himself or the nation—is creating real fear— He and the administration of incompetent lieutenants is failing this country at every turn— The failures in Afghanistan— The failures in the economy— The failures with the supply chain— The failures of the mandates and destruction of jobs and careers— The failures in handling the pandemic and inflicting economic damage instead on the nation— The failure to secure the southern border— The failures on the economy and keeping people working— The failures at knowing how inflation works or to keep it in check— The failures to make sure working class and middle class families have a chance in this country— The failure to stop Russian and Chinese aggression even a little— The failure to keep the world on an even keel— In the end—his demonstrated failure to lead—on any topic at any time since taking office— Yes the failures are over whelming—and that is why more polls show the President continuing in free-fall—as more and more Americans are rejecting the Biden Presidency and the President himself—

In 2019, Jussie Smollett's hate crime allegations captured the nation. The actor and singer claimed that two men beat him, poured bleach over his head, and tied a noose around his neck—all while shouting homophobic and racial slurs. Many pointed to his story as proof that our country, even in liberal cities like Chicago, is still plagued by the most evil forms of racism. But a few weeks later, we got news that his story was a complete lie. And today, a jury found him guilty of just that. Why did he do it? On today's episode, political scientist Wilfred Reilly, author of “Hate Crime Hoaxes,” explains why people like Jussie Smollett are willing to risk everything to gain the status of a victim.
