Caleb emphasizes the necessity of proactive business management within the green industry. He distinguishes between the physical labor of landscaping and the more difficult administrative and leadership tasks required to sustain a growing company. Auman warns about the dangers of neglecting future scheduling during the busy spring months, sharing personal stories of how a lack of organizational systems once led to the failure of his first business. To avoid these pitfalls, he advocates for the use of specific industry software and professional coaching to track financial health and improve team accountability. Key Takeaways: Proactively review your schedule to ensure you are booking projects for historically slow periods like mid-summer and winter. Prioritize "hard hard work," such as administrative tasks and leadership duties, over the more comfortable "easy hard work" of manual labor. Implement structured business systems and professional software to gain better control over your cash flow, inventory, and team accountability. Address difficult conversations with employees and clients immediately to maintain a high standard of professional discipline and culture. Invest in a growth mindset by seeking coaching for your interpersonal relationships to improve communication both at home and in the office. Connect with Auman Landscape
Summer slowdown is real for many urgent care clinics, but it can also create one of the biggest growth opportunities of the year.In this episode of Walk-Ins Welcome, Nick and Michael sit down with Ira Pasternack, founder of WebForDoctors and lead instructor for the Occ Med Growth Cohort, to talk about how urgent care clinics can build and grow occupational medicine programs that create long-term, recurring revenue.Ira shares how occupational medicine sales and marketing differ from traditional urgent care marketing, why relationship-building matters more than ads alone, and how clinics can use slower seasons to build systems that continue producing results long after summer ends. The conversation covers employer outreach, networking, sales cycles, AchMed strategy, and how urgent care clinics can carve out their own niche even in competitive markets. If your clinic has talked about growing occupational medicine but never fully committed to a strategy, this episode gives a practical roadmap for getting started.
Every church feels it: attendance dips, energy fades, and ministry momentum stalls somewhere between Memorial Day and Labor Day. But the summer slump isn't inevitable. It's the result of low expectations and no plan. In this episode, Scott and A.J. make the case that April is exactly the right time to get ahead of summer, and they give you three practical categories of action to help your church stay healthy and even grow through the slower months. Scott Ball and A.J. Mathieu are the hosts of the Church Revitalization Podcast, produced by The Malphurs Group, a church health and strategic planning consultancy with decades of experience helping churches of all sizes move toward health and missional effectiveness. Each week, they bring practical, actionable conversations to help church leaders lead well. Seasonal slowdowns can shake even the most well-run therapy practices—especially group practices navigating payroll, profit, and growth at the same time. This week, I sat down with Stef Iverson and Lucinda Bibbs, business partners and recent graduates of Money Skills for Group Practice Owners, to talk through what it really looks like to manage cash flow during a summer slump while still honoring long-term vision, wellness, and expansion.“I think it's just that the clarity and the reassurance, right? That we're on the right track...knowing the numbers has really helped us make non-emotional decisions. And just having clarity on what's actually on the paper and what are those numbers actually telling us? They're telling us a story and they're holding up a mirror and they're allowing us to make changes and pivots as we, as we need to." - Stefanie IversonStef and Lucinda came into this conversation fresh off their first slower season since implementing Profit First—and instead of panic, they brought curiosity. We talked through how their profit account temporarily buffered operating expenses, what that revealed about their numbers, and how to proactively plan for next summer so slow seasons don't feel scary or reactive.Using Financial Clarity to Stay Grounded During Seasonal Revenue DipsWhat stood out most to me was how empowering it can be to replace “scrambling” with structure. When you know your numbers and intentionally build safety into your business, you give yourself permission to rest, plan, and make thoughtful decisions—even when revenue temporarily dips.(00:03:34) Navigating Profit Slumps & Business Growth Effectively(00:07:12) Savings Buffer Analysis to Prevent Pulling from Profit(00:12:29) Consistent Owner Draws and Keeping Profit Separate(00:16:06) Preparing for Economic Uncertainty and Anticipated Slow Seasons(00:20:58) Balancing Leadership and Growth with Work, Delegation, and Passions(00:26:45) Prioritizing Your Energy and Your Relationships(00:30:54) A Successful Partnership Built on Transparency(00:34:10) Evaluating and Expanding Services Offered(00:38:18) Tree Metaphor for Growth - With a Stable Trunk, Your Branches Can ReachStability First, Then Innovation: Growing Without Undermining the FoundationWe talked through how to experiment with offering new wellness services without neglecting the “main ship” of the group practice—and how to tell the difference between an idea that needs more time versus one that isn't financially aligned right now.Key Takeaways for Therapists Navigating Slow Seasons or Growth Build buffers before you need them. Aim to have 2–3 months of operating expenses in your account so seasonal dips don't trigger panic.Let stability lead. It's okay to temporarily prioritize cash reserves over profit distributions.Test new offerings slowly. Pilot, track results, and adjust before fully committing.Protect the core practice. New ideas are exciting, but the existing business needs consistent care.Communicate clearly with partners. Transparency reduces emotional decision-making and strengthens trust.Slow seasons don't mean you're doing something wrong—they're part of running a real business. In this episode of The Gymnast Nutritionist Podcast, I'm diving into the all-too-familiar gymnast summer struggle—and why it's hitting both athletes and parents hard right now. From chaotic training schedules to travel, time off, and disrupted routines, summer often leaves gymnasts feeling sluggish, unmotivated, or stuck in a performance plateau. And it's not just the gymnast feeling it. Parents are frustrated too, feeling stretched thin, wondering what's going on and how to support their athlete. Summer always starts with great intentions. More time to train, better routines, finally getting fueling dialed in. But if you're being honest, what have you actually done? If your gymnast has big goals for this season, nutrition can't be an afterthought. It's not optional. Nutrition truly is the foundation of everything your gymnast does in and out of the gym. And if you try to wing it, you won't get it right. And you'll be stuck in the same place next year, watching your gymnast in summer struggle and still not know how to help her. If your gymnast isn't hitting those off season goals or is extremely resistant to fueling for the work required... or if YOU are feeling the mental load of trying to hold it all together...this episode is for you. In this episode, hear more about:Why the “wait until preseason” mindset can backfire - the longer you wait, the longer it will take What you can do now to shift out of survival mode and into a stronger preseason 3 fueling goals every parent should focus on with their gymnast Links & Resources Episode 154: The Top 5 Fueling Mistakes Gymnasts Make During SummerWhy Your Gymnast Won't Reach their Off-Season GoalsThe Balanced Gymnast® Program for level 5-10 female gymnasts Connect with Christina on Instagram @the.gymnast.nutritionist or christinaandersonrdn.com

Send us a textThe hype of camp is fading. The smell of leftover sunscreen and emotional debriefs still lingers. But now it's time to face the real ministry question: What's next? In this episode, Chad and Zac unpack the sneaky shift from summer chaos to fall calendars, and how to survive the mid-summer mental fog without quitting or creating a whole new youth group (again).July can be a peculiar time in youth ministry. The adrenaline of summer events still lingers while the pressure of fall kickoff looms on the horizon. Some of us respond by mentally checking out ("laid out on the carpet," as Chad puts it), while others frantically start dreaming up complete ministry overhauls. Both responses stem from the same reality: seasonal transitions are hard, and our brains don't always cooperate.Chad shares his strategy of scheduling a dedicated "dream planning day"—a physical and mental reset that helps him formally shift from summer to fall mode. This intentional transition, often accompanied by a change in location, creates space for creativity to return. Meanwhile, Zach offers the complementary approach of completely stepping away through hobbies, physical activities, or creative pursuits that engage different parts of the brain.Perhaps most powerfully, let's talk about "Tuesday faith," learning to find meaning and purpose in the ordinary moments of ministry between the mountain-tops of camp experiences and the valleys of crisis. As Chad notes, "Not all flowers grow year-round," a reminder that seasons of apparent stagnation are natural and necessary parts of ministry.

That creeping feeling as May 1st hits—summer's around the corner and suddenly you're faced with a decision: double down on restrictions before Memorial Day or table your goals until September. Sound familiar? In this episode we dive into:• Why the "I need a break from tracking" mindset might actually be self-sabotage in disguise• How to modify your approach instead of abandoning it completely• The psychological tax you pay when kicking goals down the road• Why maintaining through summer is a massive win most people overlookThe Break Mindset Trap• You find yourself thinking "I need a break" precisely when you haven't seen the progress you expected• That feeling of burnout usually comes from misalignment between your expectations and results• What you're often really saying is: "I want a break from accountability," not effort• The false belief that tracking and enjoyment are mutually exclusive is setting you up for failureThe Modifier's Approach• Tracking isn't all-or-nothing—it's a dial you can adjust based on your season of life• Simple modifications like tracking only protein or just weekend meals maintain awareness• Pre-planning indulgences creates freedom within structure• The calculated sacrifice: intentionally compromise on some areas to protect what matters mostThe September Tax• The real cost of "taking summer off" isn't just potential weight gain• You're sacrificing months of self-awareness and education about your relationship with food• The most successful clients transition from "Focus Phase" (deficit) to "Freedom Phase" (maintenance)• Maintaining is actually actually harder than dieting—that's the skill worth masteringThis conversation reminds us that your health doesn't take a summer vacation just because the calendar changes. Whether you're tempted to slam on the brakes until September or feeling frustrated that May 1st doesn't match your January vision, this episode offers the practical insights and emotional permission to embrace modification over abandonment.Looking for more on this topic? Are you ready make the bold move, step into who you know you are meant to be and finally DO THE THING? Join my DO THE THING RETREAT. Learn more HERE, or get in touch to ask me anything! We're in the heart of summer, and distractions are everywhere, so staying focused and true to yourself professionally can be tough. Today, I'm sharing three steps to get yourself back on track when you're just not that into it. First, know and leverage your peak productivity. You know when you're most productive so schedule your most important work during that time. For example, I'm a morning person, so I tackle my big tasks early, and if those “distractions” are calling, I bang out what I need to do a little earlier so I can enjoy whatever it is that's distracting me. Figure out your peak performance time and plan accordingly to maximize your efficiency. Second, sweep your own porch. This means taking care of yourself and knowing what you need to do to thrive. I keep a “thrive “list to remind me how simple it is to get back to ME. This list includes things like drinking water, getting some sun, or phoning a friend. Do what you need to feel good and set at the tone for your life (and your success). Third, step out when you need to. Sometimes, taking a break is the best way to reset. Whether it's a quick walk, a day off, or just some quiet time, honor your need for a breather. It's important to step away from your day to day so that you can and come back refreshed and ready. So, there you have it, Podsters! Three steps to help you get back on track when you're just not feeling it. Remember, it's okay to have off days. Give yourself some grace, lean into that feeling and use these tips to stay focused and also stay true to yourself. Until next time, Podsters, peace out!
