When we let God have our whole lives, He transforms us just like planting a seed in the ground produces a new plant. God wants to use us to multiply His Kingdom but we must first give ourselves to Him to plant as He pleases.

The devil is after destroying our lives, sometimes even to the point of contemplating suicide. Jesus offers us a complete release from our old lives to step into a whole new life with Him as He lives in and through us, but we must first die spiritually so that we can yield ourselves completely to Him and His leading.

God offers us a free gift of salvation to anyone who will believe, and we all have just as much opportunity to take Him up on the offer and be saved. The other part of that is His offer to deny ourselves, take up our cross and follow Jesus, and that is a road far less traveled but even more rewarding.

While the world tells us to hate our enemies, hold grudges, and sin in this way or that way, Jesus tells us to live backwards according to the world's standards. The only way we can do this is when He is living in us, and when we live this way we realize that we are really living forwards in the way He designed us to live.

We may not be chosen to die a physical death for Christ's sake, but everyday we are called to die to ourselves, take up our cross and live for Him. We must ask ourselves if we're really willing to take a stand for Christ no matter the cost. If the answer is yes, no price we must pay can compare to the victory we celebrate in Heaven.

When Rich perjured himself for worldly gain, the saint reminded him that “the whole world is fleeting; what truly matters is the kingdom of God.” This echoes the “Catechism”: “The Christian is called to die to self and live for God” (CCC 1033).Saint Anthony the Great taught the same radical love: “Die daily, if you wish to live eternally.” Our lives are like a house on fire — clinging to material treasures ensures our destruction, while abandoning them opens the path to everlasting life. As Moses declared, “I have set before you life and prosperity, death and doom” (Dt 30:15; NABRE).Thus, each day presents a choice: hold fast to the fleeting comforts of this world, or lay them down at the foot of the Cross. The cross is not a burden to be avoided; it is the gateway to the resurrection. By surrendering our will to God's will, we align ourselves with the divine plan and secure the promise of eternal life.Let us, like St. Thomas More, abandon pride, ambition, and fear, and like St. Anthony, practice the daily death to self. You have the words of life.' What would it take for you to have that same conviction when Jesus asks you to do something uncomfortable or confusing?

This episode emphasizes that true wholeness in Christ comes through surrender, not self‑preservation, using the image of a grain of wheat that must die to produce fruit.
