We can all benefit from disagreeing just a little more. Going along to get along is going to be far more successful - being a dissenter can be equally as successful. Challenging the status quo can bring much needed change to any organization. These stalwarts are arguing out of compassion with an aim to improve ideas. Andrew Millar sits down with host Mark Roe to share the keys to how being a serial dissenter can strengthen your golf club, business, and mindset. Andrew Millar considers himself a serial dissenter and has questioned, challenged and argued his way from one job to the next. From Playstation to Swatch to Infiniti and now PVH, Andrew enjoys driving sales and his colleagues a little crazy. He is passionate about the importance of dissent and will argue with anyone who doesn't agree. Millar holds an MBA from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. He is currently growing and curing olives, batches of passata, and plans to someday make homemade wood-fired pizza.
Andrew Millar and Sandra Panara of Relogix discuss the opportunity -- and need -- for corporate real estate organizations to embrace real-time occupancy.
In today's episode, Allan and Lauren talk to Andrew Millar, founder of Relogix. As a company that monitors occupancy data, it's easy to see how the sudden shift to remote work changed everything. Tracking occupancy data evolved to using sensors to figure out social distancing and time spent in the office, which then was used in real-time to control cleaning and safety. Hear about the metrics that matter when you have a hardware and a software component to your business and how a sudden change in the way we work can completely change the way a business operates.
It's not always easy to discover what we're born to do. We might think, is it possible to find your purpose without the pressure? In this episode, I speak with Andrew Millar who's been helping business owners find their true purpose. For him, the key to business enjoyment starts with knowing the meaning behind existence. Unfortunately not everyone goes to this life stage. Andrew helps entrepreneurs by identifying natural pressures that are holding them back from enjoying the success they worked hard for. There was a time in Andrew's life when he worked as an insolvency practitioner. He was running and selling businesses. Andrew worked with business owners on both ends of the spectrum; entrepreneurs who were about to lose everything and those who were very successful in their field. People who saw their business collapsing had a good excuse to not appreciate life however, he also saw that even successful ones weren't enjoying life as they should. The lack of enjoyment came from not knowing true purpose and the immense pressure of how success is seen. The society brings too much pressure on having material wealth to be considered successful, but it was not always about this, it's about something deeper. Andrew shares how he helps people unravel the path to discovering purpose and how to deal with external pressure. He is building a community that knows the real value of success. He changes the conversation to success in business also mean enjoying it to the fullest rather than how much money you are making. It wasn't enough for a company to have lots of sales and profit, it was essential that people enjoy what they are doing. Knowing one's purpose allows for better enjoyment both in life and in business, and for Andrew, this is the true measurement of success. We start off with the GolfRules Question of the Week answer for Episode 28 Are you permitted to use rock-paper-scissors as a legitimate way of determining who plays next in a match, if you are unable to determine who is furthest from the hole? Yes, rock-paper-scissors is a random method that can be used. Other random methods can also be used, like a coin toss, or you could throw an iron in the air and see which side up it lands - face or back. Alternatively you could just agree for one player to play. Blakey had an interesting story when he was called in as a referee for the Charley Hoffman vs Brendan Steele match at the Dell Matchplay in 2018. We were inundated with Rule 9.4 rulings this week at the AT&T PGA Tour event at Pebble Beach and Spyglass Hill golf courses. Firstly during Round 3 - Maverick McNealy https://youtu.be/iZ_eKA2SFWs And then on the first hole during Round 4 - Russell Knox https://youtu.be/yM4DmT7K-wk Both players were penalised one stroke, although the exact same ruling wasn’t given by the referees at the time. Russell’s was handed to him after playing the 4th hole. We cleared up an email question from Jwonghen, and encourage everyone to send in emails for questions they want to know the answer to. If the lie of your ball is altered, are you permitted to place the ball closer to the hole? And if your ball won’t come to rest after you place/replace it, how far away can you then move your ball to get it to stay at rest? Say it was on a steep slope. Rossco and Blakey reminisce on the 25th anniversary of the famous golf movie - Happy Gilmore. It certainly has brought golf shops a lot of business from those who try to replicate the famous swing - including Blakey. Blakey has created the video scenarios, and has promised a re-release, and a whole podcast episode dedicated to Happy Gilmore imbroglios. The Background Bingo’s were discussed with Andrew Millar back on top of the podium, guessing both Spyglass Hill, and Craigielaw golf courses. This week will be a little trickier for all punters, but both are in Australia. GRQotW 29 Question Are you permitted to watch a video on YouTube (say George Gankas or Me&My Golf) during a round to obtain swing tips? Episode 28 Show Notes Is Mrs Blake " Blakeing the Rules" or is Blakey confused by his mum The GolfRules Question of the Week Episode 27 was an absolute doozy that caught many by surprise. When a player hits their original ball beside another ball in the general area, and they can’t tell which one is which, then they have a lost ball on their hands. However, when the ball is known or virtually certain to have gone into a movable obstruction, such as a player’s golf bag. Then the player can proceed under Rule 15.2b for no penalty. Listener Question #1 Webbo (Andrew Webster) from the UK, hit us up with a listener question a month ago, and must have had a crystal ball in his possession. He was asking about embedded balls, and lo-and-behold, we covered it last week after Reed-Gate#423. Yes, a ball can be embedded on the bounce, BUT only if you have reasonable evidence that it happened that way. No you are not permitted to take free relief for a ball embedded in sand in the rough, but Rossco and Blakey haven’t quite figured out what the cleanest definition of sand is. We think it’s where no plants/grass is growing. Listener Question #2 The mum of podcaster GolfRules Questions hits the wave-lengths with a very tricky situation. Two players get to their balls on the green of the 9th hole and realise that the balls they have found on the 9th are although the balls they hit off the tee of the 9th hole, are not the balls that they started the 8th hole with. The pair of ladies then declares they are taking a penalty and go back to the tee, thinking that is the way to resolve it. Blakey explains many different scenarios, trying to make assumptions to get to many answers. Background Bingo The patronage of background bingo enthusiasts is up 300% since the solo Mr Andrew Millar was dominating. Last week's courses were Carne Golf Club, Belmullet Co Mayo and Clearwater Golf Club, New Zealand. This week both Rossco and Blakey have ventured to the Northern Hemisphere, can you guess where their backgrounds are? GolfRules Question of the Week - Episode 28 When two balls are an equal distance from the flagstick, are you and your opponent permitted to use paper-rock-scissors as a legitimate way to determine who will play first? How To Buy A Franchise Show | Dr. John Hayes provides insight on how to buy and operate a franchise
Andrew Millar of UBREAKIFIX recently visited with Dr. John P. Hayes on the How To Buy A Franchise Show and explained how UBREAKIFIX franchises are changing the lives of people across North America. Some 150 franchisees own the 311-plus UBREAKIFIX franchise outlets in the USA, Canada and Puerto Rico. However, those numbers are going to change rapidly — one area developer, for example, plans to open more than 230 stores just in the USA. And then there’s the wide-open international market. Millar says the company is already getting buy requests from across the world, but management plans to dominate North America first. The company is already the market leader in the $282 billion mobile phone industry, but Millar says there’s a huge growth curve ahead. Franchise-wide store revenues should top $140 million in 2017 but Millar points out that’s only 3.6% of the market! And lest you think all they do is repair phones, they repair anything with a power button. Their goal is to capture users of the tech space and keep them as customers for a lifetime. All-in investment for this dynamic franchise is about $150,000 including a $40,000 franchise fee. U.S. veterans get an $8,000 discount upon becoming franchisees. UBREAKIFIX is on track to be the next huge international franchise opportunity, at least in the tech/repair industry. Could it be the perfect franchise opportunity for you?
