In this episode on focus and productivity, drawn largely from Michael Hyatt's Free to Focus: A Total Productivity System to Achieve More by Doing Less, she covers how to:    STOP. This is where we Formulate, Evaluate, and Rejuvenate.  CUT. This is where we Eliminate, Automate, and Delegate.  ACT. This is where we Consolidate, Designate, and Activate.  “Putting some of these concepts into action has helped me so much with focusing my work and productivity – and letting go of the ‘hustle-productivity-do-all-the-things-at-once' culture,” says Sarah.   “We stress ourselves out about doing 'all the things' and just need a reminder that it's okay to not do 'all the things.' We aren't called to do that. We're called to serve each other in love because we are forgiven children of God, and that in itself gives us a lot of freedom.”  Connect with the Lutheran Ladies on social media in The Lutheran Ladies' Lounge Facebook discussion group (facebook.com/groups/LutheranLadiesLounge) and on Instagram @lutheranladieslounge. The Rev. Dr. Scott Stiegemeyer is associate professor of theology and bioethics at Concordia University Irvine; previously, he served as parish pastor of congregations near Pittsburgh, Pa., and Chicago, Ill. In this Kitchen Table Talk conversation, Dr. Stiegemeyer answers pressing questions on AI (artificial intelligence) from an ethical and theological perspective. How does God's Word inform our perspective on artificial intelligence? How does AI require us to think deeply about what it truly means to be human? What is it about artificial intelligence that makes it scarier or more troubling for people than many technological innovations that have come before? From a Christian perspective, are there good, bad, and neutral uses for AI? Is AI evil? " So I don't think we have the luxury of not grappling with because we live in the world, right? Think of it in terms of vocation, that we have a joyful obligation of freedom to serve our neighbor, to be a little Christ for someone else. And so if this thing could be damaging, we should care about how it may damage us and impact our ability to serve the Lord in numerous vocations." Christa explores why we should study and teach our children church history and how we are a part of God's family through our baptisms. Find out more about Christa's new work at cph.org/churchhistory.  Show NotesJust as you are joined to Christ in your Baptism, you are joined to a family of believers who have gone before you. In Journey through Church History, Christa Petzold helps us discover men and women from church history who witness to Jesus Christ—martyrs, historians, apologists, theologians, translators, and more. Listen to the full episode as Christa previews the curriculum and shows how we can dig in and uncover our family tree rooted in Christ.Questions·        Church history seems universal, why does it matter that we have a text that describes the history of the Christian church from a distinctly Lutheran perspective? How does church history look different when it's written from say a reformed perspective?·        How early is too early to start teaching children about church history? ·        Why is it important to start educating children about church history?·        The new Journey through Church History book covers a lot of ground! Can you talk a little bit about some of the historical persons covered? Why were there so few women covered? How did you select the people and topics covered?·        How does studying church history strengthen your faith and deepen your understanding of Biblical truths?·        Some might think that this topic is too difficult or “above the heads” of younger children, and yet you included a coloring page in the Leader guide. How do you plan to use this curriculum with a broad range of ages in your homeschool situation? How might that translate for others doing the same?·        Which theological ideas that people fought over in the early centuries of the Church surprised you? I.e. Are we still fighting over some of the same issues as the early church? About the Guest Christa Petzold lives with her husband and four children in northern Illinois. She has a MA in Theology from Concordia University Irvine, a BA in Mathematics and Lutheran Secondary Education from Concordia University Wisconsin and is currently pursuing a PhD in History of Exegesis from Concordia Seminary, Saint Louis. She is a coauthor of Male and Female: Embracing Your Role in God's Design, author of Gathered by Christ: The Overlooked Gift of Church, and author of Journey Through Church History Curriculum. She spends her time homeschooling, teaching theology, writing, and learning as much as she can about church history.

Would you call yourself an emotionally healthy person? Let me make a bold statement, and say: none of us in this world is completely emotionally healthy. But there's a way to provide and receive healing. Tune into my conversation with Brandon Cordon and learn: The most important ingredient to intimacy and cognitive development.  How a person becomes an enabler or abuser and why they are attracted to each other. What he teaches codependency is vs what you might have learned it was.   The importance of healing instead of only coping.  What empathy actually looks like. How healthy attachment is critical to intimacy and self-worth. What self-worth actually is, instead of how we learned to validate ourselves from our family and culture.  How culture, family dynamics and epigenetics foster an environment which creates traumas, emotional and personality disorders, and addictions. How Christianity mirrors neuroscience as a means to move from struggle to thriving via the church yet is failing at.   Brandon Cordon is a therapist in California with Masters in Counseling from Concordia University Irvine at the Townsend Institute. He holds a bachelors of science in Biblical and theological studies from Mid-Atlantic Christian University and is an educator who provides trainigs for clinicians and leaders of churches. In this insightful episode, she covers:  How great teamwork skills relate to the Body of Christ  Pat Lencioni's Working Genius model for productivity  How a productivity model applies to everything from marriage, to church council, to homeschool co-ops  "I think the most beautiful part about this is how Lencioni frames the [Working Genius] model,” Sarah says. “He specifically talks about the geniuses as the things God has gifted you to do, how He has wired you. I've talked about this before in several places, about recognizing the gifts God has given and not given to us, and using those gifts to the best of our abilities. This fits so beautifully with our description of the Body of Christ, that each of us in individually gifted with ways to serve each other within the unity of the Body. So this assessment gives us insight into how God has wired us so we can lean into the spaces that are our strengths, and uplift others in the spaces that are not our strengths but someone else's strength.”    Find the Working Genius podcast, book, assessment, and insights at workinggenius.com.  For even more from Pat Lencioni, including the Table Group podcast, visit tablegroup.com.  Click to learn more about CUI's Townsend Institute for Counseling and Leadership.    Connect with the Lutheran Ladies on social media in The Lutheran Ladies' Lounge Facebook discussion group (facebook.com/groups/LutheranLadiesLounge) and on Instagram @lutheranladieslounge. We talk about experienced waiting in this season, how theologians connect it to the end times, and living in the season of patience. We talk about the tension between preparation and waiting, and how the reformation pivoted the church's view of Advent from preparation to waiting. We talk about the connection between Advent and birth. (This episode was recorded just before Kelsi gave birth to her daugher.)
