"Why isn't there a metal site that talks about metal the way people actually talk about it?" The MetalSucks co-founder, formerly known as "Vince Neilstein," tells the origin story behind the opinionated news site. There's also an in-depth discussion about "The Metallica Economy": how the kickoff of a new Metallica album/touring cycle is the digital wave that lifts all of the metal websites. (In 2022, Ben and his fellow cofounder, Matthew "Axl Rosenberg" Goldenberg, sold MetalSucks to The Orchard, a subsidiary of Sony Music, and left their co-Editor-In-Chief positions.) Axl Rosenberg, formerly of MetalSucks, sits in on the episode today and we have a lot to talk about. We talk a lot about movies, and bad movies and why they're great. We spend some time discussing the Fast and Furious franchise, why Netflix is making a mistake with their password-sharing crackdowns and Matt's new movie blog. We begin with Matt learning about the Pantera reunion from Rob and that leads to discussions from Rob and Axl about how we would ask to get on guest lists before. We discuss the recent pushback from Republicans on LGBTQ+ Pride Month. We analyze Eddie Trunk's anti-NYC tweet and ponder what got him there. We are fascinated by a millionaire who makes his son do blood transfusions with him and learn about this practice and see if it's actually working.Visit Axl's new blog at appetitefordeconstruction.comWatch the episode on Youtube for free. Blake Harrison of Pig Destroyer guests this week. We discuss the lengthy break between the band's new album Head Cage and Book Burner (2012), if the title of the record contains any messages about modern society, how a Pig Destroyer show has become an event for our genre, how they got on the Showtime promo for the new Twin Peaks series (while we fanboy hard on David Lynch's career), playing “Natasha” in its entirety and if there is a demand for that song, his thoughts on doing a Pig Destroyer live record, and turning down an offer to do Prowler in the Yard in it's entirety (and his take on that general phenomenon). Also this week MetalSucks co-founder Axl Rosenberg calls in to discuss his perfect score for Head Cage, the comments and reviews he's been reading about it and his thoughts on the rest of Pig Destroyer's discography, which Petar unfairly makes him rank on the spot. Petar and Brandon create an ad for the splendid new Atreyu song, discuss Brent Hinds' comments about metal being "the most brutal job" he's ever had (and Devin Townsend's response), the Sword's recently-announced hiatus, and our thoughts on the cruel realities of being a non-stop touring musician in 2018. Songs: Pig Destroyer - “Army of Cops” Pig Destroyer - “The Torture Fields” Pig Destroyer - “Mt. Skull”
We talk about Trump's America, Charlottesville, race relations in America, NFL players taking a knee, Flynn's stand against Phil Anselmo's racist outburst, how Dimebag Darrell's death affected him, the rape allegations against Decapitated, Machine Head's new album "Catharsis," its more melodic direction and how fans may react to it, how it's similar to The Burning Red, his decision to rap on the album, how current political and social events inspired the lyrics... and that's just the beginning. The post Robb Flynn of Machine Head Sits Down with Axl Rosenberg and Vince Neilstein on The MetalSucks Podcast Special Episode #214.5 appeared first on MetalSucks.
We discuss the band's new EP The Solace System, how they amassed so much material in such a short amount of time, the jobs she had prior to joining Epica, the choice of not bringing her children on the road, the seven-year anniversary of her blog and her passion for photography. The post Simone Simons of Epica on The MetalSucks Podcast #208, with Special Guests Axl Rosenberg and Emperor Rhombus! appeared first on MetalSucks.

Metalsucks's Axl Rosenberg and Chris Kovatin (also of Revolver) have joined us this week to talk about their upcoming book that chronicles the history of metal, Hellraisers: A Visual History of Heavy Metal Mayhem! Of course, I steer the train hard off the rails, so we have a great time talking about a bunch of topics, including but not limited to: the book itself, Phil Labonte, Decapitated getting arrested, racism in metal, the business of running a metal blog, and much more! This was a hilarious time and I'm glad that I got to chat with Axl and Chris. Hellraisers is really cool and it comes out October 2nd, so go pre-order it!

Noa was not in the studio, but called in from Israel, telling us some shockingly interesting tales of visiting museums with her family. She will be back in the studio next week. Additionally, we learn more about Sean's nipples, get some new contributions from Cancerscare and a new amazing Livecast/Bolt Thrower mashup from longtime listener Anselm (Blight Worm) which had us laughing so hard we were choking. Rich was a little confused at first on if we were on air or not. He also assumed all the callers' names were Darren. But we got through it anyway, getting a bunch of random calls from people with juggalo hate, Emmure hatred, and we got a call from a devoted listener from Venezuela. We played Thrash It or Trash It and heard Malevolent, Milosony, George Costanza Is Brutal. We ended the show with an acapella version of Creeping Death. Here is this week's playlist: CONVERGE – My Great Devastator LUDICRA – A Larger Silence TODAY IS THE DAY – In the Eyes of God
It's pretty clear that the stars of this week's edition of the Metal Injection Livecast were the callers. On this very eventful edition of the 'cast, we're joined for the whole show by our brotha from anotha motha, Axl Rosenberg of MegaSluts.gov. Axl is in charge of all the music played on the show with the exception of the Ja Rule and Metallica collaboration, which Axl has never heard until we graced him with it. Stopping by later in the show was THOR SHREDSTEEN who brought his "main squeeze" Antanella not to be confused with Bernadette. Expect appearances from Zakk Wylde harmonics, malevolent murders, bad tributes to Michael Jackson and more.
