Summary: “I'm sorry, what was that? No, the second part…the part that came after that…”   METALCORE seems to be all over the place, in that its components are quite varied and cover a broad spectrum of everything that has historically made metal awesome: double bass drumming, guitar shred, breakdowns and mosh parts, and sometimes even some emo screaming and heartfelt vocals sung straight from the balls. Like a heavy metal jambalaya with a ton of different ingredients, METALCORE is the next wave of metal for a new generation of metalheads who want to enjoy a little bit of everything all at once.   Be sure to stop “adulting” and remember that “when people lose their argument, they shift their whole stance”. Realize the darker connotations of saying “I did a thing today” and understand that Cory Hart wears his sunglasses at night because it's terrifying to be “blinded by the light”.    Get ready to ponder the entertainment value of a “scientifically accurate Spiderman”, brace for some quality “decoction” bloopers from the cutting room floor of “Transition Hospital”,  accept the fact that there are still some folks who believe “a non-tattooed 6 is way hotter than a fully tatted 10”, grab yourself “a hot pocket” and JOIN US as we sample the smorgasbord of modern fusion metal known as METALCORE.   Visit www.metalnerdery.com/podcast for more on this episode   Help Support Metal Nerdery https://www.patreon.com/metalnerderypodcast   Leave us a Voicemail to be played on a future episode: 980-666-8182   Metal Nerdery Tees and Hoodies – metalnerdery.com/merch and kindly leave us a review and/or rating on the iTunes/Apple Podcasts - Spotify or your favorite Podcast app Listen on iTunes, Spotify, Podbean, or wherever you get your Podcasts. Shat the Movies: 80's & 90's Best Film Review

Shat The Movies historically has been less than kind to Stephen King. So this years Spooktacular commissioner, Rob T, challenged us to rewind to the Master of Horror's first work: "Carrie." Aside from its massive pop-culture impact, this 1976 hit showcased Sissy Spacek's incredible acting skill and Brian De Palma's directorial prowess.  "Carrie" also introduced the Shat Crew to Googly-Eyed Jesus, exercise detention and shockingly effective use of slow-motion while leading us to ask whether the movie poster gave away too much. Is Stephen King the Hoobastank of authors? How clearly can a person speak while blowing John Travolta? And which utensils are appropriate for killing your mom? We tackle these questions and more, just in time for Halloween. Send us a Text Message.Scotty Austin isn't your ordinary or average run-of-the-mill rock star. With a remarkable track record playing across the United States, as well as being a multi-instrumentalist in numerous genres, it is clear he has a unique perspective when it comes to creating music. Hailing from Parsons, Tennessee, his interest in various instruments started at a young age when he began reading music in kindergarten while also gaining experience in the family band at church. By the late 90s, Scotty began expanding on his knowledge of music genres and branching out to multiple styles such as percussion and classical guitar performance before earning his spot as the band leader of the official NASCAR Rolling Thunder band for an entire season. His accomplishments continued when around the early 2000s, he won fourth place in the world during the International Blues Contest while representing Memphis, Tennessee.         Shortly after, Scotty collaborated with a new original group and recording artist, Ash Bowers, along with Jason Aldean's label, Broken Bow Records, as well as the sister label, Stoney Creek Records. It wasn't long until Scotty decided to start his own original project, an indie rock band called Trash the Brand. He had wanted to record and play songs that he had written but never had the chance to play. Within weeks of forming, he was playing to packed houses and venues which in turn caught the attention of a few people in the music industry. Soon Scotty found himself in contact with Jeff Hanson (manager of Creed and Saving Abel), who offered to manage him.
