“I want more Bible in my life this year!” One way we can get more of the Bible in us is to memorize portions of it. Our good friend, Professor Tom Meyer, also known worldwide as “The Bible Memory Man," dropped by to give us some tips! Stick around for the end of the conversation, as Tom shared that bible memorization helps him hold steadfast to the Lord in the midst of an unexpected emergency, stemming from a medical condition his daughter was born with eight years ago. https://www.thebiblememoryman.com/ Donate to Moody Radio: http://moodyradio.org/donateto/morningshow/wkesSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
When our children were young, being raised at home, we had Bible reading pretty much every morning. As part of that, I put many passages to song for easier memorization. We recorded most of them. Some of them I "produced" in a very minimal way using Garageband loops and such. All scripture for these songs is from the New King James Version translation of the Bible. The subtitle for this song is So Walk in Him. I am singing this this song. See this link for a full list of Bible Memory Songs: Bible Memory Songs. Since this is the first song published, it is the only one on the list so far. Others will be added to as I publish them!

Good Question is a podcast for the curious by Compassion Christian Church. Join us with love and curiosity in your heart as we dive into a discipleship series over the next few episodes. What is discipleship, why does it matter and what does it look like, that's what we will be digging into together! Carolyn Kixmiller, the executive pastor of spiritual formation joins Marcus Johnson and Blair Bauman to break down how you can be a student of Jesus. This conversation is not meant to create guilt or force you to make a list of do's and don'ts, but rather to remind you of the invitation that is available to you. God wants to meet with us and we have the gift of choosing to learn intimately from Him. We hope you'll explore how you can practically “be with Jesus” as we discuss what discipleship looks like. One of my New Year's resolutions this year is to make Bible memory more of a priority. Memorizing scripture doesn't come quite as easily these days as it did when I was a kid, but the following tips and tricks have helped speed my progress significantly. Here's hoping they'll do the same for you! Show Notes SCRIPTURES CITED: - “Therefore shall ye lay up these my words in your heart and in your soul, and bind them for a sign upon your hand, that they may be as frontlets between your eyes.” (Deuteronomy 11:18) - “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” (Romans 12:2) - “You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.” (Isaiah 26:3) - “Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” (Ephesians 6:17) - “Then the eyes of those who see will not be blinded, And the ears of those who hear will listen.” (Isaiah 32:3) - “You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.” (John 14:14) - "But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him." (James 1:5) - "And ye shall teach them your children, speaking of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, when thou liest down, and when thou risest up." For most of us in the highly literate, western world, memorizing the Bible means "learning the text with word-for-word accuracy". But in the much of the world today, text was often passed down orally in a practice known as "orality". “[Psalm 107] is just such a beautiful picture of the gospel, isn't it? That Jesus came not to save those who were good and righteous and the best, but he came to seek and save the lost. He came for those of us who were his enemies, who were thumbing our nose at him. And that is who our God is, and his love is unfailing, and his deeds are wonderful.
