The Mitchell Institute for Aerospace Studies invites you to enjoy our rollout for our newest paper: The Need for Collaborative Combat Aircraft for Disruptive Air Warfare by Mark A. Gunzinger, Director of Future Concepts and Capability Assessments and a former Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense, with Maj Gen Lawrence A. Stutzriem, USAF (Ret.), Mitchell's Director of Research, and Bill Sweetman. This discussion featured Robert Winkler, Vice President, Corporate Development and National Security Programs, Kratos Defense, and Curtis Wilson, Senior Director, Emergent Missions, General Atomics Aeronautical Systems. The event was moderated by Lt Gen David A. Deptula, USAF (Ret.), Dean of the Mitchell Institute for Aerospace Studies. This report is a product of the Mitchell Institute's wargames and related research that involved expert participants from the Air Force warfighter communities, defense technologists, and industry. It strongly supports the Air Force's proposition that CCA will help mitigate the Air Force's existing—and growing—capability and capacity gaps that threaten its ability to achieve air superiority in a conflict with the pacing threat. However, while CCA may provide affordable mass to bolster an otherwise dwindling inventory of crewed combat aircraft, CCA combined with crewed 5th and future 6th combat aircraft have the potential to disrupt China's A2/AD operations and then deny and impose costs as called for by the National Defense Strategy. The stakes for creating this new, hybrid force design have never been higher, given China's unchecked campaign to field new A2/AD weapon systems and proliferate them to other actors that threaten the security of the United States and its allies and friends.

We welcome James C. Goodall! Jim is a published author with 24 books in print, and with book No 25 (a pictorial history of the Seawolf/Virginia class nuclear submarines) in the final stages of going to press. He is a recognised expert on low-observable aircraft such as the F-117, B-2A, the Lockheed 'twins' (F-22 and F-35), and the Lockheed Skunk Works family of Blackbirds. Photographing and writing about 'spooky aircraft' for the last 35 years, he is also an acknowledged expert on Area 51 as it pertains to flight-testing classified aircraft in a remote location. His very first book, co-authored with Bill Sweetman, was the first volume in print on the F-117, and it sold more than 60,000 copies. James's seven previous books with SquadronSignal have sold a minimum of 3500 copies to a maximum of 17,000 copies. Even the $100 US Blackbird Flight Manual that was published by Motorbooks in 1990 sold 1,500 copies in 15 months. His Blackbird pictorial from Schiffer (published in May 2018) is considered by many in the 'Spooky aircraft' world to be the most complete pictorial ever assembled on the subject. This week, biologists are excited about what might be a unique protein found inside an ancient meteorite, which could have tremendous implications not just for alien life, but also raises questions about the origins of life here on Earth. Astronomers have also located what is believed to be evidence for the biggest explosion ever found in the cosmos, and an unusual, anaerobic life form that lives in the living tissue of another aquatic creature.  We then turn our attention toward the topic of mystery aircraft and secretive black budget programs that the U.S. military has allegedly been involved with for decades. The history of spy planes and secret aircraft since the end of WWII begins at Area 51, the secret test facility at Groom Lake, Nevada, which has attained near-mythical status over the years for the rumors about UFO-like aircraft developed there. However, among the known kinds of aircraft that were built and flown out of the facility were the U-2 spy plane and its successor, the SR-71 Blackbird. Since the SR-71 was decommissioned in 1990, many aerospace experts and UFO buffs alike have wondered what other kinds of top-secret, experimental aircraft might have been developed there over the years. Further questions surround reports of eerie, massive flying wings and "black triangles" seen in the skies over parts of the American southwestern deserts and various other locales. The Pentagon has maintained that no such aircraft exist... but if so, how can we account for the hundreds of sighting reports, which have led to investigations by organizations ranging from the Federation of American Scientists, to Robert Bigelow's National Institute for Discovery Science? Our deep-dive this week takes us beyond "Deep Black" as we go in search of answers behind the enduring mystery aircraft of Area 51.  Enjoy The Micah Hanks Program? A strong brand and corporate name is critical to demonstrating your uniqueness in the marketplace. The competitive forces are at play. The problem, of course, is that even if you can secure a strong and original brand identity, getting the right domain name can be costly, time consuming and extremely frustrating. Thankfully, there are smart people like Bill Sweetman who love the domain game. I've been fortunate to know Bill for over a decade. He's a former digital agency professional (who was in the space almost twenty years ago), before switching to his true passion: domain names. His company is called, Name Ninja. He is focused solely on helping individuals and brands get the domain names that are best for them. He is a very successful and respected domain name industry business leader with extensive experience in the domain aftermarket (or secondary market) of premium domain names, including domain pricing, distribution, and sales. A self-confessed domain name fanatic, Bill registered his very first domain in 1994 (which he later sold) and has been perfecting his "Domain Karate" moves ever since. If you've ever wondered how the domain business has become so wild and hard to navigate, you do not want to miss this. Enjoy the conversation...  Running time: 57:58. Hello from beautiful Montreal. Six Pixels of Separation Podcast - By Mitch Joel

After being a Co-Host on Across The Sound - the new marketing Podcast from Joseph Jaffe, I caught the Podcasting bug... big time. Yesterday I was listening to Across The Sound Episode 33 with CC Chapman (from Accident Hash, The U-Turn Cafe and Managing The Gray) and I just decided to go for it. I emailed CC and he pointed me toward CastBlaster. I watched the demo, downloaded the trial version and hit record. So, here it is - the pilot episode of Six Pixels Of Separation - The Podcast. Six Pixels Of Separation has been a keynote presentation I have given over the past few months and is the working title for my yet-to-be-written book. Below are show notes from this pilot episode of Six Pixels Of Separation. Let me throw some caution up front: - This is my first attempt at Podcasting and I'm putting it out there in the spirit of "what the heck." - It was recorded live, in one-shot, with no editing. - CastBlaster in trial format only allows you to record a maximum of ten minutes (that's why I talk a little faster at the end). - I'm not a fan of the intro or outro music - I was just playing around. My business partner, Mick Kanfi, will be creating some cool theme music (coming soon). - This episode is "powered by" and not "presented by" CastBlaster. - I should have faded out the music at the end. Six Pixels Of Separation - The Podcast - Pilot Episode - Show Notes: - Running time: 9:20. - Welcome to Six Pixels of Separation - The Podcast. - Brief bio on Mitch Joel. - Thanks to Joseph Jaffe and CC Chapman. - Recap of CMA - Canadian Marketing Association - National Convention and Trade Show. - Mentions: Kevin Roberts, Max Lenderman, Joseph Jaffe, Bill Sweetman and One Degree. - Why Six Pixels Of Separation? - Montreal Business Book Club. I have yet to set-up the feed and post the Podcast to iTunes, etc..., so the only way to hear it is to download it from this location (you can try a right-mouse-click and save): Six Pixels Of Separation - The Podcast - Pilot Episode - Host: Mitch Joel. As with everything, your comments, feedback and help is appreciated. Please let me know what you think.
