In 2015, Brandon Chase from Bay Roberts was in an accident involving a drunk driver, and it changed his life forever. A decade later, drinking and driving is still a problem. The RCMP arrested more than 320 people last year for suspected impaired driving offences. Corporal Jolene Garland is the media relations officer for the provincial RCMP, and she joined us on the line this morning.

For almost two weeks, the media was silent. Similarly, the local authorities did not say much either. Ohio Governor Mike DeWine, said in a press conference on Feb 14, 2023, ten days after the East Palestine ecological disaster: ‘Look, President Biden called me and said, “Anything you need.” I have not called him back after that conversation. We will not hesitate to do that if we're seeing a problem or anything, but I'm not seeing it.' The EPA and FEMA are on the ground, debate continues whether it is safe to breathe the air or drink the water in the area. Questions are being raised regarding the extent and reach of this environmental disaster, too. 1, 2 In this episode we also look at the peculiar similarities between the East Palestine toxic train derailment and the very similar fictional event described in the novel White Noise. This coincidence is reminiscent of another unbelievable case: the 1979 the film “The China Syndrome” with Jane Fonda, Michael Douglas, and Jack Lemmon. Daily News Male Athlete of the Year Brian Espanet sits down and talks with Cassell’s Corner podcast host Tommy Cassell. Espanet was a three-sport athlete at Hopedale High School, who graduated in June. He played football for the co-op Millis-Hopedale team (which won a Division 4A state championship), the boys basketball team and baseball team. The team beat Maynard High 30-18 in the Division 4A Super Bowl in December. Espanet talks with Cassell about how that friendship on the football field with Millis players and the rivalry with Maynard carried over on the hardwood during the basketball season. During this high school career, Espanet scored over 1,000 career points in basketball and had over 100 career hits in baseball. Only a few days old, Brandon quit breathing 64 times in 12 hours and was told by doctors he could be deaf, blind, mentally impaired, or possibly all three. Not only did the Texas native not suffer any complications from his childhood, he instead went on to graduate high school at the age of 15. He then completed his masters certificate in song writing from Berklee College of Music at the age of 17. He has since appeared multiple times on season 5 of NBC's The Voice as a member of Blake Shelton's team. He now gets to travel the world, but let's find out what destinations he still has on his bucket list.

Hailing from Arlington, TX., this 19 year old Country/Pop crossover artist picked up music at the age of 14 and quickly became passionate about performing and speaking through songwriting. Brandon Chase started his musical journey playing drums, then turned to singing. Shortly after, he taught himself to play piano/keyboard then acoustic/electric guitar. He graduated high school at the age of 15 so he could get a jump start on his career. Before his 18th birthday, he completed the master certificate program for songwriting through Berklee College of Music. Brandon was featured on iTunes "New and Noteworthy" and also "Rising Stars of Country", following the release of his EP “Country Enough”. His most recent achievement was appearing multiple times on season 5 of NBC's The Voice as a member of Blake Shelton's team. Brandon is currently recording his debut album set to release mid 2014. The first single off the album, titled "One", is currently playing on Country Radio nationwide and is available for download on all digital platforms.
