Is your speaking authentic—or just polished performance? Learn why collecting no's as a speaker isn't failure—it builds courage, resilience, and the emotional stamina needed to grow. Discover why the true impact of your words may not be immediate—your message can echo long after you've left the room. Understand how social neuroscience shows that live speaking activates more areas of the brain, making in-person engagement especially powerful. Recognize that authenticity and self-awareness are the foundations of effective communication, helping you connect beyond just content.Uncover how adopting the mindset of “be the water, not the rock” helps you flow around resistance instead of clashing with it. Realize that criticism is often more about the critic's pain than your performance—so don't internalize every negative remark. Master the idea that courage and generous assumptions are essential when speaking hard truths or challenging norms—because connection beats confrontation.Discover why:Rejection isn't failure: every "no" builds your courage and emotional stamina.Your words have a ripple effect: impact can happen long after your talk ends.Live speaking hits deeper: it activates more of the brain, making in-person talks more powerful.Authenticity connects: being self-aware and real helps you go beyond just delivering content.Flow with resistance: like water, don't fight back hard; adapt and keep moving.Don't absorb every critique: sometimes, criticism reveals more about the critic than your message.Lead with courage and compassion: when speaking hard truths, prioritize connection over confrontation.Celebrated Speaker, Agent Antoniette Roze, and Transformational Mindset Coach, Sherril Harris shares her insights on the importance of social neuroscience and emotional intelligence in fostering human connection, particularly in the speaking industry. She discusses her journey into this field, the impact of live versus virtual interactions, and the significance of authenticity and self-awareness in communication. Kat Armstrong Kay Daigle Leaders are always on the hunt for good volunteers. The question is what to look for in a potential volunteer. The answer? Recruit gifted volunteers, in fact look for those more gifted than you are. What does it look like practically? Kat Armstrong discusses with Kay Daigle why and how to find and empower such volunteers. As a leader, this episode will make you think about what gifts you need in the people working under and with you. Keep in mind that you need to recruit gifted volunteers, people who are even more gifted than you are! Recommended resources Recruit the right volunteers with Kat Armstrong How Should I Structure My Women's Ministry Team? Maximizing volunteers This episode is available on video as well. TranscriptKay >> Hi, I'm Kay Daigle with Beyond Ordinary Women, and I am delighted to welcome you to a series of videos that I'm doing with Kat Armstrong, who is the founder of Polished Ministry, a nonprofit. And Kat is sharing lessons in leadership that she has learned through leading in Polished. And we have some others that we're discussing as well. But this particular session we're going to talk about seeking leaders that are more gifted than you. And so, Kat, there are probably people out there wondering why in the world you would want to seek leaders more gifted than you, because don't you want to sort of be the one who knows all the answers and, you know, you're sort of at the top of the food chain. Why not? Kat >> Well, yes, I used to think that way. I read this book by John Maxwell, probably 15 years ago called Developing the Leaders Around You. And that book changed my mind about this. And he said, “Think about your leadership on a scale with zero being not such a great leader, got to work on some things, and ten being really high capacity person. He said, “Let's say that we're seven maybe six-and-a-half. If you start recruiting eight, nines and tens in your organization, they're going to bring you up. They're only going to encourage you in leadership and make you a better leader. And I think Stephanie and I, when we co-founded this organization, really took that to heart. But I started to see quickly that if we were going to reach our peers with the gospel—young, professional women (I only had experience in sales and marketing), we needed women who were great in accounting and logistics and administration and technology. Things that I'm not going to be able to learn really quickly or efficiently. But they know how to do it. And so we just decided let's recruit the smartest, fastest, most efficient women we can think of. And it is a little intimidating. I walk into a leadership team meeting, and I think everyone in here is better educated and could do a lot of things better than I can. But it just makes our team really strong. Kay >> Absolutely. I totally agree with you about that. Do you have an example to share of someone or a group that really was just an amazing recruit? Kat >> Sure. If we look at our staff right now, I wish I could talk about all of them. We don't have time to do that. But I think if you just go to our website, look at the headquarters staff, they're incredible. Felicia Benton really stands out in my mind is someone I watched behind a microphone and I thought, wow, she is better at interviewing than I have gotten in a decade. And I've really been practicing. We've done over 200 events. I bet I've interviewed a slew of people and it was like magic to watch her behind a microphone. And then I watched her emcee an event, and I thought of all the things I've read in the training I've been to that is just raw, natural talent right there. It's and now she's joined our staff as the regional director, and she helps all of our directors and see and speak. And so she's training people on how to do that. But I think she probably stands out as a great example for that. Kay >> Well,
Tune into our weekly LIVE Mastermind Q+A Podcast for expert advice, peer collaboration, and actionable insights on success in the Probate, Divorce, Late Mortgage/Pre-Foreclosure and Aged Expired niches! In today's episode of the All The Leads Mastermind podcast the conversation focused on sharpening marketing strategies through direct mail campaigns and building a stronger digital presence. The panel emphasized the importance of consistency in mailing, discussing how cadence, message clarity, and professional presentation directly impact response rates. Members shared success stories around pairing letters with follow-up calls, as well as tips for segmenting lists to prioritize the most motivated sellers. The discussion then turned to websites as a credibility and conversion tool. Bruce explained how even a simple, well-structured site can build trust with probate leads by showing professionalism, authority, and resources tailored to families in transition. The group explored best practices for content such as including probate FAQs, testimonials, and clear calls to action along with the value of integrating websites with mailing campaigns so prospects have multiple touchpoints to validate your expertise. Tim and Jim highlighted how the most successful agents combine print and digital, using direct mail to open the door and online presence to establish credibility once homeowners start researching. The episode wrapped with practical advice on tracking responses, refining messaging over time, and making sure that both websites and mailings work together to build trust, stay top-of-mind, and increase long-term conversion rates. Key Takeaways Consistency in direct mail is key. Mailing cadence and clear messaging dramatically influence response rates. Pair mailings with calls to create a natural follow-up process and build stronger connections. Websites establish credibility by providing families with probate-specific resources, FAQs, and testimonials. Mail + website = multi-touch trust: Prospects often research you online after receiving a letter, so both channels must align. Professional presentation matters: Polished websites and high-quality mailings convey authority and reliability. Track and refine: Monitoring response rates and adjusting both messaging and design can boost results over time. Integration creates long-term wins: Using direct mail to initiate contact and websites to nurture trust produces higher conversions than relying on a single channel. We all know leaders who are technically brilliant—but hopeless in front of a crowd. One of our friends had a big pitch looming, and he knew he wasn't ready. He'd been putting off proper training, and now the pressure was on. Unfortunately, this is not uncommon. We hope our skills will magically hold up under pressure, but presenting under pressure is a different beast entirely. Leaders are the face of the company, whether they like it or not. Their words, presence and delivery become a public reflection of everything the organisation stands for. If we ramble, fumble, stumble or come across as unsure, people don't just judge us—they judge the entire brand. It's brutal, but it's reality. This is the age of visibility. Everyone's a broadcaster. TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn, Instagram—leaders are on camera more than ever. There's nowhere to hide. Even at a PTA meeting or a casual talk, people are evaluating us. That throwaway moment might become their lasting impression of the business. The problem? Many leaders still think good technical skills will carry them. That's outdated thinking. You might be great at what you do, but if you can't express it with authority, confidence, and clarity, people will underestimate your value—and your organisation's reputation takes a hit. We've seen it all. The confident speaker who's “good enough” and never pushes further. The reluctant presenter who knows they're exposed but delays training until it's almost too late. Both are missing massive upside. Polished communication isn't a nice-to-have anymore. It's mission-critical in today's hyper social media and presenting world. Training gives you more than the skills. It gives you confidence, structure, message clarity, and the tools to show up consistently strong—regardless of the room or the moment. This isn't about winging it. It's about walking in knowing you'll land it, every time. So, stop gambling with your personal brand. Don't rely on last-minute favours from a friend or your own delusional overconfidence. Get the training. Own the skill. It pays off every time you speak, pitch, or lead. This is what professionals do—and it's available to every leader willing to get serious. Let's get to work.
Savage Wonder hosts Saturday night absurdities The ploy each Saturday evening at Savage Wonder in Beacon is simple: Wind the eight actors up by handing them a script, let them rehearse for about five hours and turn them loose. The resulting staged-reading performances take place every Saturday night for a month at the Main Street venue, a former bank. "The last performance is the most polished, but the first one is the most fun," says Chris Meyer, its artistic director. On Saturday (Aug. 9) and each week through Aug. 30, the company will present The Actor's Nightmare, by Christopher Durang and directed by Meyer, along with six 10-minute comedies. Absurdist scenes include a corpse in conversation and a wedding catering menu that offers hand-clubbed baby seal, carpaccio of spotted owl and sashimi from the waters around Fukushima. As Savage Wonder builds out 139-141 Main St., the basement is the only area open to the public. Music and theater performances are held at The Parlor, accessible through the 4,000-square-foot art gallery Savage Wonderground. Formerly known as Vet/Rep (short for veterans repertory theater), Savage Wonder moved from Cornwall last year and plans to open two performance spaces and another bar/cafe upstairs. "We've never produced a show in August before," says Meyer. "We always went dark. This year we figured, let's see what Beacon brings." Next to the performance space is Grape Rebellion, a wine bar and eatery. Patrons can dine and drink while watching the performances. In The Actor's Nightmare, Cian Genaro portrays a befuddled accountant mistaken for an actor (who may also be a thespian having a bad day). He is thrust into a production that shifts from Beckett to Hamlet and A Man for All Seasons. Beheaded at the end, like Sir Thomas More, the actor/accountant lies motionless on the floor during the curtain call. A short, "The Big Dark," referencing hell, relates the fast-moving adventures of a mishmash of nymphs, satyrs and Greek gods as narrated by a hardboiled gumshoe (Dylan Crow). Kia Nicole Boyer laughed after gargling water to imitate a fountain. During a game of craps, a character rolled "Medusa eyes." In "Monkey Do," the protagonist's younger brother died from being strangled by a sock puppet - or an actual monkey; it's ambiguous. Ana Anderson and Leeanne Hutchison heightened the hilarity, reflecting Meyer's mantra to have fun, mix things up and "eat the dessert first," he says. The key to keeping a theater-like flow in the cozy Parlor space is the doorway to a utility room that fills in for backstage. Actors also enter and exit by walking through the house, which is filled with four couches, padded barstools and height-adjustable antique tables. Three rows of lighting gear affixed to the ceiling add ambience to the performances. During "Hamlet in Hiding," they simulate the police raid on a trio of bank robbers with Irish accents holed up in a theater. The room's mottled red, blue and yellow decor is adorned with portraits of Bob Ross, Shel Silverstein and Edgar Allan Poe. For readings this month, the action takes place along the far wall, but configurations are flexible, including in-the-round experiences where the stage stands mid-room, says Topher Kage, associate artistic director. When hosting improv or standup comedy shows, the small stage is placed against one of the side walls. There are 25 chairs, and "pretty much everyone has a first- or second-row seat," he says. Tickets are $25 at savagewonder.org. The play performed on Saturdays in September will be "The Elephant Delivery," by Bill Smith, along with six 10-minute comedies written by veterans. The Grape Rebellion is open from 5 to 10 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday and noon to 10 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Welcome to The Daily, where we study the Bible verse by verse, chapter by chapter, every day. Thank you for joining me today and following us throughout Project 23. If you would like to learn more about this project, click the link to discover more and partner with us. Our text today is Mark 12:38-40: And in his teaching he said, “Beware of the scribes, who like to walk around in long robes and like greetings in the marketplaces and have the best seats in the synagogues and the places of honor at feasts, who devour widows' houses and for a pretense make long prayers. They will receive the greater condemnation.” — Mark 12:38-40 Jesus has been teaching in the temple all day, and now he turns from answering questions to issuing a warning. “Beware of the scribes.” He calls them out on their own turf. And notice the exhortation. He does not say to “disagree with them” or “debate them.” He says "beware" as in, be on high alert. Why? Because their spiritual influence looked holy on the outside. They wore the robes. Spoke the language. Took the places of honor. Prayed eloquent prayers. But it was all for show. Underneath the surface, Jesus exposes something far more dangerous: They devoured widows' houses. They used their spiritual authority to manipulate, exploit, and take. Their power was not for people's good, but for their own gain. And Jesus doesn't just call it out—he warns of a greater condemnation. Spiritual leadership without spiritual integrity is deadly. And Jesus is clear. He's not impressed with religious appearances. He sees the robes. The seats. The greetings. The prayers. But more importantly, he sees the motives. Are you living for God's approval or people's applause? This warning isn't just for teachers and pastors, like myself, which is humbling to consider. It's for anyone tempted to put on a spiritual performance. It's for the man who prays in public but won't lead at home. The woman who knows Scripture but won't show grace. The leader who loves attention but won't serve in obscurity. God is not looking for polished people. He's looking for surrendered hearts. So beware of putting on a religious show. It may impress people, but it never fools God. #BewareTheShow, #Mark12, #SpiritualIntegrity ASK THIS: Why does Jesus say “beware” instead of just “disagree”? What does “devouring widows' houses” tell you about the scribes? Where are you tempted to perform spiritually? How can you pursue deeper integrity in your walk with Christ? DO THIS: Ask someone who knows you well: “Do you ever see a gap between what I say spiritually and how I actually live?” PRAY THIS: Jesus, protect me from the temptation to perform spiritually. I don't want appearance—I want authenticity. Shape my heart, not just my image. Amen. PLAY THIS: “Give Me Jesus”

Rebekah Coste hosts the "Moms of the Lou" podcast, and features Leah Longueville of Polished Prints in this latest episode. Leah, an Illinois mom, discusses her business journey - starting with onesies for her daughter and evolving into a brand offering gender-neutral clothing and mom-friendly items. She highlights the challenges of balancing business growth with family life and emphasizes the importance of creating a community and safe space for customers to share personal stories. Go visit Polished Prints in Edwardsville or support Leah's business online! Leah Longueville started Polished Prints in 2018 when she was a new mom with a personal love for graphic tees, and yet couldn't seem to find many for her daughter that really aligned with her own mindset. So she did what any graphic designer mom would do - she created her own. It all started in her guest bedroom, hand-printing onesies one-by-one and sharing them on social media. She focused on positive messages that reflect her own values, bringing to life the meaningful apparel she felt was missing in the world of children's clothing. It didn't take long for her to see how messages like "Be The Good" and "Love Thy Neighbor" resonated with so many others in the same way, so she decided to open up an Etsy shop so others could spread the love, too. Before she knew it, she launched her own website and this tiny hobby evolved into its own little business. We hope you enjoyed this podcast episode! Before this episode, I tried to record twice. Both times, I was trying to sound like what I thought a podcaster should be. Motivational. Polished. Perfect. But it wasn't me. This right here? This was the first real one. No fancy mic, no ring light—just me, in a closet, recording on an Android with a gaming headset, talking to save myself. I was a sergeant on the outside, but broken and lost behind closed doors. In honor of Men's Mental Health Awareness, I'm remastering “Find Your Peace”—the episode that helped me stop pretending and start healing. I hope it brings you the same clarity it gave me when I hit record and finally decided to be real.

This is message 47 in the Isaiah series. Isaiah 49:1-26 The Servant of the Lord is chosen before birth, hidden for a time, and refined by God to fulfill a far-reaching mission. Though His labor appears in vain, He trusts the Father's purpose and timing. God promises restoration, victory, and glory through the One who will bring salvation not only to Israel but to the ends of the earth. Like a polished shaft made ready for its target, the Servant is prepared in secret and released in strength. His example teaches that those who yield to God's shaping hand will be used in His perfect time for His perfect purpose. Leave your commentIn Episode 136 of Mastering Modern Selling, Brandon Lee, Tom Burton, and Carson Heady welcome back a show favorite Larry Long Jr, CEO and Chief Energy Officer of LLJR Enterprises. Larry doesn't hold back. With a mix of energy, humor, and real talk, he calls on sellers and leaders to ditch outdated habits and build something that actually works today. This episode hits hard on what it really takes to stand out in a world that's constantly moving: owning your calendar, taking daily reps, and showing up with intention. Larry's philosophy is simple: get clear on your purpose, stay committed, and don't wait around for perfect conditions.Sales Has Changed, Stop Acting Like It Hasn't “There's still dinosaurs out there, but they're extinct.” Larry doesn't mince words. If you're still relying on tactics from 2014, you're behind. Making 1,000 calls a day hoping something lands isn't a strategy, it's noise. Buyers have changed, and sellers need to catch up.Forget ‘Safe', Start Being Seen “Your content is not creating trust.” That was Brandon's mic drop, and Larry doubled down. Polished, lifeless messaging isn't helping anyone. The people you're trying to reach want something real. Share your story, talk about your journey, and be someone worth believing in.Worry Isn't the Problem, Inaction Is Larry says it straight: a little worry is healthy if it gets you moving. But if you're stuck worrying without action, that's on you. It's not about being flashy, it's about doing the work. “Let me see your calendar. Who are you meeting? What are you learning?”Success Comes from Reps, Not Excuses “You've got to get the reps in.” Larry's sports background shines through as he reminds us that success isn't random. It's about repetition, accountability, and small steps done daily. Want results? Stop hoping and start practicing. The JOLT Effect – Jump On Life Today Larry's signature mindset is captured in one word: JOLT - Jump On Life Today. Why? Because waiting is a trap. “Tomorrow is not promised.” Whether it's getting healthy for your family or building a sales rhythm that works, it starts with taking real action now. This episode is a wake-up call for every seller who's coasting or playing it safe. Larry reminds us: the path to being unstoppable starts with ownership. Don't wait for motivation. Don't wait for the market to shift. Build your discipline. Practice with purpose. And show up differently every single day. Don't miss out—your next big idea could be just one episode away! Canadian electro-industrial band Front Line Assembly, led by Bill Leeb with longtime collaborator Rhys Fulber, released their eighth album Hard Wired in 1995. The album blends harsh electronic beats, cinematic synth textures, distorted vocals, and heavy guitar riffs, all characteristics of the industrial and cyberpunk aesthetics of the mid-'90s (think Hackers, Strange Days, Johnny Mnemonic). Lyrically and thematically, Hard Wired explores dystopian, technological, and transhumanist topics, reflecting fears and fascinations with the digital age, surveillance, and the loss of humanity in a mechanized world. Polished yet gritty production, mixing cold mechanical rhythms with a dark, atmospheric intensity, the album bridges the gap between their earlier EBM (Electronic Body Music) roots and a heavier, more industrial rock-influenced style. It's a late Sunday afternoon, the sun is shining, and the smell of freshly cut grass (and the inevitable hay fever) is drifting through the studio as I sit down to record this episode. After a whirlwind few months — including seven incredible weeks photographing on Crystal Cruises — it feels good to be back behind the mic, even if I'm a little sniffly. In this episode, I'm reflecting on the magic of authentic portrait photography, the rapid rise of AI in our world (and our inboxes!), and why the human touch still matters more than ever. Plus, there's news about upcoming workshops, a few tech tips for cleaner files and faster edits, and a good-natured rant about AI-generated podcast pitches. As always, it's a mix of stories, laughter, tech, and a reminder to stay creative — and stay human. Cheers P. Transcript Introduction and Podcast Setup So it's Sunday afternoon, the sun is shining, and here I am late on Sunday recording this podcast and I'm recording it with the smell of freshly cut grass, uh, wafting in through the windows, which is gonna trigger my hay fever one way or another. Um and also the reason I'm recording it quite so late at this stage of the day. It's 'cause my neighbors have been cutting their grass and they do have the loudest petrol mower in the world. I'm Paul, and assuming I can get through this without sneezing, this is the Mastering Portrait Photography
Polished is out. Grit is in. If you want your brand to cut through the noise, it might be time to take a cue from the underground music scene. In this episode, we're taking lessons from 90s indie rock with special guest Scott Rayburn, CMO of DataArt. Together, we talk about how brands can market with meaning, stay relevant in the digital age, and create content that hits like your favorite song.About our guest, Scott RayburnScott Rayburn is the Chief Marketing Officer at DataArt. He's experienced in leading cross-functional, high-performing content, GTM/sales, comms, operations, and creative teams, and skilled in content strategy, sales enablement, demand generation, SEO, product marketing, website strategy, branding, partner marketing, and providing creative direction.Scott has been with DataArt since 2023. Prior to his current role, he served as Director of GTM & Content at global technology services company Wizeline. He has also led product marketing at companies like The Risk Management Association and Proscia. What B2B Companies Can Learn From 90s Indie Rock:Lead with authenticity. Great marketing doesn't have to be glossy, it just has to be real. The best indie rock bands of the '90s didn't rely on flashy production or major label backing to build loyal followings. They embraced raw sound, DIY, and intimate venues, and that resonated deeply with fans. Scott draws a parallel to modern marketing: “People can see through BS… you actually generally will get better results from the kind of authentic stuff.”Think in lifetimes, not just campaigns. The strongest brands create lasting emotional connections, much like your favorite bands. “These bands that started in the eighties are still filling up 5,000-person theaters today,” Scott explains. Why? Because their fans feel a deep, emotional connection. For marketers, this means nurturing your audience beyond the funnel. Build a brand people want to grow old with, not just click on once.Stay active on every channel. Indie rock bands don't just put out an album and disappear. Scott says, “Even if they're not making new songs, they need these channels to stay relevant, to sell tickets, to sell merch. It's all kinds of tied to marketing. And this is a tie between the authenticity and customer lifetime value. It's really activating that in a digital age.” Marketers need to do the same. A strong multi-channel strategy ensures your message reaches people where they are, whether that's a blog, a webinar, an event, or a TikTok feed. Being present across platforms consistently helps brands stay top of mind, accessible, and adaptable to change.Quotes*“ This authenticity that we were talking about with these bands, people can see through BS. Whether it's like an Instagram reel or a LinkedIn ad, or an email campaign. It can still work. Your marketing can still work if it's completely polished. But I think, and I see from some results that come from a company work that DataArt is doing. You actually generally will get better results from the kind of authentic stuff. And this is kind of where you see brand maybe driving more revenue than demand generation, but who can actually count the dollars from brand? Well, not me, but maybe someone can let me know. So those conversations are happening.”*“ These bands that started in the eighties are still filling up 5,000-person theaters today… There's this multi-channel approach, which is a huge part of marketing and content marketing. You notice they're all on Spotify. They all have websites, they all have social media. Even if they're not making new songs, they need these channels to stay relevant, to sell tickets, to sell merch, e-commerce. It's all kind of tied to marketing. And this is a tie between the authenticity and customer lifetime value. It's really activating that in a digital age.*“ The number one thing I've noticed in content marketing is the huge need to transition from the faceless 1000-word blog post to something that's more interactive. The quote with somebody's face on your social media post is gonna perform five times better than the faceless five AI trends.”*“ You can't do everything yourself. Build a good team around you. Be T-shaped 'cause you're not gonna be a marketing leader if you're not T-shaped…And try to create some way that you can stay focused on your strengths, and then lean on others who have strengths of their own. Have this kind of holistically built type of leadership team.”Time Stamps[0:55] Scott Rayburn, CMO at DataArt[02:02] Why 90s Indie Rock?[03:53] What is Record Store Day?[04:55] The Role of CMO at Data Art[06:38] Origins of 90s Indie Rock[10:50] The Indie Rock Movement and Its Impact[20:30] Building Community Through Music[31:11] B2B Marketing Takeaways from 90s Indie Rock[38:39] How You Can Be More Authentic in Your Marketing[46:55] Advice for marketing leaders[47:29] Final Thoughts and TakeawaysLinksConnect with Scott on LinkedInLearn more about DataArtAbout Remarkable!Remarkable! is created by the team at Caspian Studios, the premier B2B Podcast-as-a-Service company. Today, we're talking about a game-changing concept that will redefine how you think about your business and yourself. Luxury. What is it? We'll explore what it means to bring that energy forward in every interaction, regardless of the size of the transaction. And here's the twist—it starts with YOU. We'll also unpack why adopting a “Louis Vuitton state of mind” transforms your business, your confidence, and how others perceive your value. Trust me, love, this one's pure gold. The Reality of Luxury Can we get real for a second? When most people hear “luxury,” they think yachts, champagne bars, and designer bags. Sure, that's a part of it—but it's just the surface. The sales associate treats you as if you're the most important person in the world. That care, that attention to detail, that feeling, is what we're talking about. NOW take that same energy and imagine delivering it to your clients. Whether it's their first condo or their dream estate, luxury is about how you make them feel. Energy, elegance, and excellence—that's what turns a business transaction into a lifelong memory. Key Takeaways You'll Love Luxury whispers, “You are worth this.” Understand that before you can offer it to others, you've got to embody it yourself. It's not just a transaction. Each interaction is an opportunity to create an unforgettable experience. Energy doesn't lie. Walk in with intention, poise, and confidence, and others will see your value. Luxury is personal. It's not tied to a price point. It's in the care, attention, and detail you bring to the table. Treat yourself as a brand. The way you show up for yourself reflects the way the world will show up for you. In this limited series of the ProductLed Podcast, Wes Bush shares the contents of his new book—The Product-Led Playbook. Over the next three months, we're releasing one chapter at a time, providing you with practical, no-nonsense guidance on how to build a multi-million-dollar product-led business with a lean team. In today's episode, Wes explores the critical decision-making process of what to give away versus what to monetize in a product-led business. He emphasizes that the most successful models are intentional and strategic. Using real-world examples like Tettra, Wes illustrates how a freemium model can unlock long-term user value and how offering limited free features can lead to higher retention and conversions. He dives into the different types of free models—such as freemium, opt-in, and usage-based trials—and provides actionable tips on finding the best fit for your business. He introduces the DEEP framework (Desirable, Effective, Efficient, Polished) to help businesses design a powerful free model that delivers tangible value upfront without overwhelming users. Key Highlights: 1:14: What makes an intentional free model2:12: Case study: Tettra's switch to freemium3:17: Key benefits of the DEEP framework6:40: How to build user trust with value11:20: Practical steps to define your beginner level22:05: The PCR test for finding solutions32:06: Understanding opt-in and opt-out models You can buy The Product-Led Playbook here. Pull up a chair at the mill's fishing camp because this episode is packed with classic lumber trader BS, war stories, and some useful market insights. We kick things off with a SYP talk, asking Charles why published prices keep climbing when he insists, they're flat. Did we spill too much on what we think values should be? Maybe. We also dig into how much tariff speculation is already baked into prices. Matts had the best market pulse lately, and he breaks down what mills' optimizers are up to. Gregg takes us through housing starts, and Charles lays out the numbers on 2x4 and 2x6 9'. This episode is loaded with free intel—things your lazy trading partner might be missing. Come for the stories, stay for the knowledge. Listen in and get ahead!
Sometimes beauty is just a mask that's painted on. Polished, and perfected to hide the horrors beneath. A swipe of lipstick, a pop of nail polish, all the small things that are meant to make us feel seen and powerful. But is beauty isn't just for us? There may be someone else watching, waiting, longing to wear it too. Be careful, because before long, you might not recognize the monster that's hidden beneath your surface. Justin Thornton packs a LOT of soul-stirring and heart-searching truth into this short and powerful message that he delivered in Indianapolis, Indiana back in October 2023. He speaks about the irreplaceability of a preacher's heart relationship with the Lord, which contains both spontaneity and structure. Justin Thornton is a father of 4 and a husband to Adreanne. He was a church planter and a coach for 16 years and now he is a teaching pastor at a church that meets on the college of TCU in Fort Worth Texas. He wrote “The Preacher: A Comprehensive Guide From Heart to Pulpit” and is working on “The Priesthood”. He wants to see a movement of God in the next generation and God's Kingdom come on earth as it is in HeavenFor information about our upcoming training events visit ExpositorsCollective.com The Expositors Collective podcast is part of the CGNMedia, Working together to proclaim the Gospel, make disciples, and plant churches.
