Welcome back, Catholic Pilgrims, to another reading that covers the topic of friendship. Today, specifically, we will be hearing about true friendship. As you know, my daughter is a Focus Missionary at Berkeley. Most people turn up their nose when they hear that she is a missionary there, writing off the students as utter loss causes. I was worried about her safety when she first told me she was going to be sent there. But, we can't only go into places that are healthy and be missionaries. Christ said, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I came not to call the righteous, but sinners.” One of the things that has been striking to my daughter as she serves in this mission field is how little people understand what true friendship is. Most have never had a true friend, one that desires your good, raises you in virtue, and shares special memories with you. So much of what she has done is to teach them how to be in friendship with one another. Let's hear what St. Francis has to say by turning in our books to Chapter Nineteen of the Third Part.

Do you believe you were called to be a missionary in some capacity? This doesn't instantly mean a FOCUS Missionary, or even a religious sister or priest. It just means living out mission with conviction for spreading the Gospel in little ways. Sometimes we need re-conviction or reminders as to why we are striving for Sainthood and spreading the Gospel daily, and that's where SEEK24 and mission trips come in. This week Court and Meghan talk about the importance of mission both in the USA and internationally, as well as the great impact of SEEK24. SEEK24 will happen in St. Louis, MO January 1-5, 2024 and you can register for the event at http://www.seek.focus.orgThis episode is sponsored by Abundantly Yours and Sculpa Studio. Those who are incorporated in the Catholic Church ought to sense their privilege and for that very reason their greater obligation of bearing witness to the faith and to the Christian lifeas a service to their brothers and sisters and as a fitting response to God. They should be ever mindful that "they owe their distinguished status not to their own merits but to Christ's special grace; and if they fail to respond to this grace in thought, word and deed, not only will they not be saved, they will be judged more severely." -JP2 (for full quote Redemptoris Missio 12)https://www.focus.org/missionaries/katie-mossbargerFREE RESOURCESFertility Awareness Cheat SheetRelationship Check-UpOur BooksGo To Joseph: 10 Day Consecration to St. JosephGo To Joseph For ChildrenOur MinistryAbout UsConnect with us and send us a message on InstagramYouTube ChannelEpisode Music by Alex_MakeMusic from PixabayRECOMMENDED RESOURCESHere are some of our favorite books and resources that will support your marriage, family, and faith. *Full disclosure these are affiliate links, which means we get a little kickback if you purchase it, but it's at no additional cost to you.Love and Responsibility by JP2Theology of the Body by JP25 Love Languages by Dr Gary ChapmanTotal Money Makeover by Dave RameySt. John Paul and his 5 loves by Jason EvertThe Porn Myth by Matt FraddWould you prefer to listen to these books instead? visit https://www.audibletrial.com/twobecomefamily for a free 30-day trialSupport the show
